Old town walking around and taking pictures . Too many mosquitoes took away the fun. Over priced guided tour

Tour guide was very knowledgeable but this was a very overpriced excursion. It basically covered a 90 minute private tour followed by 5 1/2 hours of free time. Really? The round trip ferry was $21 USD per person which would have made the 90 min tour cost $336 USD based on two people. Nothing against the tour guide but I really feel ripped off and should be asking for money back.

Excellent tour guide who goes out of her way to give you a good experience in Uraguay. Tour is good for a dat

Wonderful village, good guide, great lunch. Takes an hour each way to get through check in, emigration, customs, etc.
Pickup at hotel was prompt. Return ferry was 15 min late but driver was waited for us.
Thought there might be too much time after end of guided tour and check in for return but not really. Plenty to see and do.
Sycamores in bloom caused allergies to flare.
Could do on own but guide was very additive. All in all worth the money.

We book this trip with the idea to spend a day at Uruguay while staying the Buenos Aires. It takes a while in the ferry terminal to check-in and get to Colonia but it is worth it. The old town is remarkable and peaceful. The tour guide is very nice and friendly and showing us a great restaurant at the old street. Highly recommended for people who likes old ruins and old style building. Nothing munificent but ancient and old fashion stone houses.

Very well taken care of, from pick-up at our hotel to drop-off. The short tour was informative, the tour guide excellent. We enjoyed having time on our own to explore the town. I was concerned about the short time in the town but actually it was perfect. We ate lunch at Charco Bistro on the river - had a traditional sandwich plus mint ginger tea. We saw a lot of different birds coming to the river to drink and then resting in the restaurant's garden. Highly recommend!

Wonderful little town, we had the best guide Lourdes.

First- it is definitely worth it to go to Colonia del Sacramento but DO NOT do it via this trip. It is incredibly overpriced. I recommend just get a taxi and go buy your own tickets for a third of the cost. Doing it through viator gave me a very short trip and I didn't get to explore the city as much as I would have liked. The walking tour was nice- but nothing you couldn't read online before you go. Plus this was the only non-refundable trip I booked in Argentina and I booked a lot and a friend was out 300 who could make it. Wake up early- get the first ferry out- buying tickets online ahead of time can get you an under 100 ticket. Spend a full day shopping and eating in Colonia.

Our tour guide Lourdes was awesome and extremely knowledgeable. I appreciate that our ferry was the first one out in the morning so that we had a bit of time to explore Colonia before it became more crowded.

This tour was incredibly overpriced and a complete waste of time. I haven't had a bad experience with Viator until now. The ferry tickets are only 40, the transfer can easily be taken care of with a 20 uber, and the tour was abysmal. I've had much better free tours. Colonia is beautiful and worth visiting, but go on your own!! Waking up early and paying for the tour was a huge mistake - there isn't enough to do in Colonia to entertain you from 9-5. It is, however, a wonderful place to go on your own time or for an afternoon. The tour was almost comical, with our guide walking at a snail's pace and pointing out this is a restaurant, this is an old car, and this is a church. I didn't learn anything. In summary, go to Colonia on your own save 100 and you'll have a great time!

The tour was extremely expensive for an hour a half walking tour of Colonia. Our tour guide was Ok. I strongly recommend including in your tour price museum tickets with a tour guide. The tour guide informed us where to purchase tickets, in three museums and all the information was in Spanish.

My only complaint is that we did not stay a night in this little town. The guide was really nice and she gave you plenty of free time to do what you like. The town is charming and I recommend it.

Colonia is a fabulous town and well worth a visit. Lots of history, great scenery and grand old buildings. The ferry trip took longer because of engine issues. Our guide was great. The town is small and be visited easily on a day trip.

Everything went as planned. The driver showed up at our hotel as planned and was there to meet the ferry when we arrived back in B.A. He was very cordial and efficient. The best part, though, was our guide Karen. She was great!! Very knowledgeable and extremely friendly. We had a wonderful time on our walking tour with her and she set the stage for a great day. One of her suggestions for lunch was Charco, a restaurant which was extremely enjoyable. Colonia is a great, quiet place that is perfect for a day away from the hustle/bustle of B.A.
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Thank you for your kind words! We’re delighted to hear that Karen made your tour so enjoyable and that our driver helped everything run smoothly. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you again on another tour.

The tour ran like clockwork with no time spent waiting between pick up and boarding ferry. Colombia was gorgeous, but it was a miserable rainy day. The walking tour was therefore conducted in the pouring rain. However, it was a lovely day and well organised.
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad to hear that the tour was well organized and ran smoothly despite the rainy weather. It’s wonderful that you still enjoyed your day in Colonia and appreciated the experience.
