Learn about life in Buenos Aires, both past and present, during this in-depth walking tour with an informative guide. Spend ample time on the streets of Argentina's bustling capital, listening to your guide's commentary about the architecture, traditions, and local history that many visitors miss out on.
Visit the historic downtown and Plaza de Mayo, including stops at Casa Rosada, the Cabildo (Town Hall), the Cathedral, and Puerto Madero. Trek on toward San Telmo, the oldest neighborhood in Buenos Aires and home to many colonial-style houses and churches. Follow your guide on foot to San Telmo's famous Dorrego Square and its antiques market to learn about the dark history of the open-air Slave Market.
Cover the area around Plaza San Martin Park, which gave Buenos Aires its 'Paris of the South' reputation. Your guide leads you through Palermo, Buenos Aires' largest and most populous neighborhood, to get a taste of everyday life in this vibrant city. You'll also pass through tiny Recoleta toward its heart, the Recoleta Cemetery, where Eva Peron and many other famous Argentinians are buried.
Along the way, your guide stops for a coffee and lunch break (own expense). Your tour concludes at one of the main restaurant districts so you can continue exploring on your own.

Tour was excellent. Our guide, Clemencia, went out of her way to provide a wonderful experience for us. She was very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. She really went out of her way to make the day so very enjoyable.
Response from Host, Feb 2025
Very glad to hear your experience was as expected by us.

We walked the city ourselves the day before the tour, and SAW some of the same sights, but through the tour we began to UNDERSTAND the city; the history, neighborhoods, and potential.
Understand this is a true walking tour.
Response from Host, Jan 2024

I ended up being the only one on the tour, so it was custom-tailored.

On March 26th my wife and I took what was supposed to be the 6-hour guided walking tour in Buenos Aires. We met Carlos and one other couple at the right time and place. Carlos, as previously reported, was very interesting and knowledgeable. Then the rather quicker than expected walk commenced. What happened next truly upset us and hope that it never happens to anyone else. At noon, the other couple took off guess it was a half-day tour and Carlos proceeded to dump us close to the Recoleta Cemetary and told us to wait there until 1:00 pm for Soledad to meet us for the second half of the tour. Not what we expected or appreciated. For some unknown reason, we still gave him a tip for the morning portion of the tour. When she did show up, she produced a map of BA and pointed out a couple of places close by that we would visit - - and then informed us that we were to take, at our expense, a cab to some other areas way beyond walking distance. We told her that was just not going to happen and tried to explain to her what walking tour meant. We did end up having to take bus transportation to some other section of town. My wife and I were just too disappointed in the whole affair to even begin to enjoy the rest of the day. And, when she finally left us at the end, because we were so far away from our original starting point, we had to take a cab back to our hotel. And, for some unknown reason, we tipped her as well. It was a total disaster and we were very disappointed with the whole affair because weve taken Viator excursions when travelling thru Italy and they were all well and professionally done.

Well recommended for a solo business traveller, first time visitor to Buenos Aires, with only limited leisure time but seeking to absorb as much of the city's vibe, character and life from the street level. Our guide, Carlos, was a charming and knowledgeable host with many stories about every street, corner and building we walked by. I'll do this tour again if I return to the city with a companion who needs an introduction to this fascinating place.

Brisk tour of central Buenos Aires. Lots of information. I was the lone guest on this tour. If I could change one thing I would encourage the guide to deal with questions when they are raised rather than saying he would explain later in the tour. The tour did give me insight into much of the history of Argentina and Buenos Aires.

A very interesting day, Carlos was a fountain of information and endless facts, incredibly interesting and brought Buenos Aires to life with his fascinating stories a superb way to find out about this interesting city and would fully recommend it.
cegoss, Jun 2016
Very knowledgeable guide on the history, architecture and politics of BA and Argentine.
Jean_H, May 2016
Very good tour, especially the morning where we saw many things that we would have not done from just a book. A really enjoyable day.
Steedman S, Apr 2016
very informative, good pace, great way to get to see all the intricacies of this beautiful city.
louis v, Apr 2016
The first half of the walking tour, in the morning, was very good. I enjoyed the guide and the range of interest. However, I was somewhat disappointed when, at lunch time, I was joined by another guide who took me to Recoleta where I thought we spent too much time. The second guide was also less fluent in English than the first guide.

They really do drop you far from pick up. You need to get a cab!!!
Peter S, Jan 2016
Good and informative tour. The guide was interesting and particularly expert on the Recoleta Cemetery and its famous tombs. He really brought the City to life.
leslie s, Jan 2016
The first guide was great. After that it was dragged out unnecessarily to wait for a second guide who was not as knowledgable or fluent in English
Rhoda S, Jan 2016
Very thorough tour with our most informative and pleasant guide Soledad

My husband and I loved this tour. We were with Carlos in the morning and Soledad ?spelling in the afternoon. We learned so much about the history and culture of both Argentina and Buenos Aires and their experiences living there.
Eric P, Aug 2015
Didn't see enough sights, didn't go into any buildings. Lots of time, but felt we could have seen more.
Nathan S, Aug 2015
This was a great walking tour with tons of information about the city. I talked to people who took cheaper tours, and they wasted their time in gift shops and found very little out about the history of the city. If you only have a short time in Buenos Aires and want to make the most of your time, I'd recommend this tour.
Charlene S, Aug 2015
This tour was very good. The guide was very knowledgeable about the area and all the sites/points of interest we visited. Would definitely recommend this tour.
Miranda H, May 2015
It was ok. Alot of the sights you could have just gone to on your own. The added history and commentary was not compelling.
Clay S, Apr 2015
This was an excellent tour! It is a lot of walking, but it is the most comprehensive walking tour I have ever taken. I really liked my guides.
Christopher M N, Apr 2015

Very interesting and both the guides, Carlos and Soledade were very informative.

Fantastic!!My tour guide Eilat knew Buenos Aires inside out. She knew all the out of the way sites. Loved it. A most memorable day. Thanks Eilat
Paul N, Apr 2014
Highlight of our time in BA! Carlos was open, honest and very insightful. If only our Rio your was 10% as good as this one.
Carolyn S, Mar 2014
Excellent guide - Carlos who really knew "his stuff". Maybe a little too long especially in the graveyard where Eva Peron is entombed.
Anthony_K, Mar 2014
First class, would recommend this to anyone stopping over in BA.Tour lasted nearly 7hrs and covered everything.
Only problem, everyone on the tour(3 couples) assumed that we would finish the tour at the same place it started,WRONG! We were left in an old part of BA and told go out of the building turn left and your hotel is in that direction.
30 minutes later with aid of a map we made it back, but don't let this put you off.
Robert L, Mar 2014
This walking tour is a good deal. If your new to Buenos aires, this is a good way to start, cause it shows you where everything is. The guides Spoke great English, and are extremely helpful.
Mr_M, Feb 2014
Excellent! We covered a lot of ground (we were walking for about seven hours) and Carlos, our guide, was very interesting and knowledgeable, as well as speaking faultless English, He gave us a great insight into both the history and present-day life in the city - highly recommended.
