Meet your guide and the rest of your group in San Telmo, then board a minivan for the short ride to Buenos Aires' city center. Stop at Jorge Bergoglio's childhood home that he shared with his parents and siblings, then move on to his early educational institutions like the College of Our Lady of Mercy and the Jesuit Universidad del Salvador.
See the Basilica of San José de Flores, where the Pope took his sacraments, received his religious vocation and dedicated his life to God at just 17 years old.
Continuing this 3-hour tour, learn about the Pope's love of futbol (soccer) at the San Lorenzo de Almagro Athletic Club. Visit the San Ignacio de Loyola Church and continue on to the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Cathedral, the main Catholic church in Buenos Aires. Overlooking Plaza de Mayo, this 16th-century building was the site where the devout followers of Pope Francis waited to hear if he would succeed Pope Benedicto XVI.

Silvia was an amazing guide, taking us from Francis’s childhood home, through his old neighborhood and by his school, to his basilica and cathedral as an adult, sharing photos and stories of his life along the way. A fascinating tour!

My guide Silvia was amazing- knowledgeable and clearly enjoyed the topic she was talking about. Loved her ability to use a iPad and share pictures as she spoke to the history. This was honestly the best tour I took. As a Catholic, The tour spoke to so many things on the road to being a pope that Jorge later Frances took- definitely humanized him in a way that deepened my appreciation for him as our pope. It also gave space for the fact that this is for some a religious experience that needs space differently from other tours. Loved loved love the guide and this tour!

Guide took time out to explain any questions, even those not directly involved in the tour. The tour itself was insightful with places both on and off the beaten path. This is definitely a case of you get what you pay for, and in a good way.

I had my 15 year old with me and we enjoyed this tour a lot. We are not religious folks, but Pope Francis is such a wonderful individual, to experience his childhood and follow his footsteps is inspiring for anyone.
Our tour guide Sylvia did not miss a thing. She was thorough and we also got to see such beautiful churches. A nice break from the touristy sites and into the heart of the porteños.
During our tour, everyone was so kind and also added their own tidbits to our tour. One stranger was happy to share the "he was their Vatican Messi!" We highly recommend this tour.

Seeing Pope Francis birth place and what shaped him of who he was, was extraordinary. Visited the Plaza de Mayo and was able to know and learned the significance of each building in the history of Argentina. Great places to see while in Buenos Aires.

Carlos was an excellent guide who showed us all the formative places in the life of Jorge Bergoglio before he became Pope Francis. A bonus experience was seeing the changing of the guard at the tomb adjacent to the Cathedral.

I absolutely loved this tour! My guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about these sacred locations, and kindly answered my questions along the way, with ample time for photo opps as well. It was everything I hoped for!

This is a very new tour customized to those who are interested in seeing the places that are related and important in the life of Pope Francis. We started the tour at the house where Pope Francis grew up in the Flores District, the visited the public school and the Catholic School where he studied, then we proceed to this beautiful Church where he was baptized, and then to Buenos Aires to the University where he taught and ended at the Cathedral where he served as Archbishop prior to his election as Pope. Seeing those places is already interesting but since the tour is very new, the guide could have given more information. Maybe as the tour package gets more client, they'll be able to add more information and insights on the life of this first Pope from the Americas.

Silvia did a fantastic job showing us the important sights for this tour! We visited many Catholic Churches, and she explained the significance of each. My wife and I thought she was very knowledgeable.
John_G, Jan 2020
Our tour was led by Carlos, a knowledgeable young guide, but hampered by inaccessibility to any of the houses where Jorge Bergoglio lived and the schools he attended. The Church where his parents were married and he was baptized was closed. The favelas (where he gained his deserved reputation as a champion for the poor) were not included, even from a distance, nor were any of the Jesuit locations associated with his careful leadership at the time of the military Junta. The one touching aspect of the tour was the small plaza where the future Pope chased the soccer ball with his friends (corria tras la pelota con sus amigos) and spent the afternoon encountering their friendship (eran trades de judges, encuentros y amistad) manifesting what his papacy has emphasized: the importance of the 'encounter.'

We were just 2 with the guide and we travelled the city by taxi. Lots of important and interesting information about life in BsAs and history and background of the Pope.. You learn alot the Pope's background in Argentina, You get to see the city and experience BsAs by car ( which is in and of itself an experience)
Carl M, Mar 2018
Our tour guide was helpful and made the tour enjoyable. But we feel we should have been driven to the place we started from, versus left on our own to get back.

We had a very nice walking tour in Buenos Aires and I loved that our tour guide had alot of knowledge of the city and its history. I would highly recommend walking tours whenever possible. I have been using viator for awhile now, and have never been disappointed.
Michael W, Mar 2016
Our guide and driver were excellent! The tour was very informative and allowed us to see many parts of Buenos Aires we otherwise would never have seen! We would certainly do it again and recommend it to our friends! Thank you Viator!

We had a great experience. Our taxi driver and guide were very nice. Our guide was very informative with excellent English
Peter S, Jan 2016
Good tour but guide could have had more background on Pope Francis with clearer English. A world traveller would already know something of the Pope's background and so could do with more local input. It was still a good tour and using a local street taxi was an unusual way of touring.

Very pleasant and friendly tour guide. However, deeper history and explanation of the significance of the sites visited would be helpful. A couple of the stops on the tour are somewhat contrived and you can only view from the outside without access.

We had a very comprehensive tour , lots of walking for 79 great grandma and daughter, but I made it, heat and all.our tour guide was very well informed about all the church's we visited..
My one complaint was when we arrived at the office in San Telmo by taxi, no one was in sight anywhere, office closed because of holiday. We left but decided to go back once more and our tour. guide was down a couple of blocks and motioned to us. If the office is closed , someone should be there early to meet tourists.
We almost missed our tour.

Saludos cordiales, Tangol.
