With only one day in port after your cruise ship arrives to see the Bordeaux wine region, a private wine tour of the Médoc region is the way to go. Itinerary

Disembark from your cruise ship in the port of Bordeaux and meet your guide for an unforgettable wine tour in the Médoc region. Travel in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle from the port along the castle road out of Bordeaux toward some of the best-known wineries in France. Tasting fees are not included on this tour.

The first stop on your wine tour is in either the Margaux or St. Julien appellations in a Classified Growth chateau, where you sample the first wines of the day. Next, head for Pauillac to stop for lunch (own expense) or sample more wine on your own.

The next stop on the wine tour is in either the Pauillac or St. Estephe appellations in another Classified Growth chateau, where you do another wine tasting. See if you can taste the differences from the wines you tried earlier.

Conclude your tour back at your cruise port.

The booking was painless although it did require a phone call. Advanced phone calls to the operator produced a very specialized tour for our group. We were experienced wine drinkers and collectors and the operator provided a very experienced tour guide. He lived and worked in the California wine industry for several years. David had no accent and spoke perfect english. The experience surpassed our wildest expectations.
