A fantastic experience working with Chef Asli. She was informative and explained everything in a way that it was easy to understand. The trip to the local farmers market was an added bonus. After 30 days of cruising the eastern Mediterranean, this class was the number one memory for us. Do not hesitate to sign up for this class.

Cultural food trip

Julie_T, Oct 2025
The experience was above and beyond what I had expected. I love going to the markets and the guide, chef Asli Multi, knew where the best herbs, spices and produce are grown in the country and took us to those vendors. We tried different cheeses, foods and fruits. The cooking part was amazing-there was so many dishes, but we worked on a few of the dishes with techniques new to us. An amazing meal with wine overlooking a valley. I came away with new techniques, tasted foods new to me and felt I’d been given an opportunity to look deeper into Turkish culture through its food. Definitely a highlight of my trip.

Good day!

The local market was an amazing experience. We sampled a number of the fruit, veggies & products on offer. Our guide then drove us out to a rural location with views across the countryside and towards the sea for the cooking demonstration. The Chef/instructor was knowledgable and shared insights into Turkish cuisine. We all sat down together and ate the food that we helped prepare, it was tasty. Be good if the recipe book was included as part of the deal given the price of this tour. Would recommend this as a great experience.

Thank you so much for taking your time to give us a nice review. Please note that we do have the recipes online on our website, if you could please send us an e-mail to mutlu.aslihan@gmail.com we always send a password to our guests who have been to our classes. We sell the printed books at the class, and the income goes to a foundation that is dedicated to help girls that that does not have the opportunity to go to school. Sorry if we did not let you know about this.

Long drive, but great experience.

Melissa_h, Aug 2025
This activity is not just 40 minutes drive, it is closer to an hour and a half each way. The market visit is not to buy the produce for the class. You will not get the recipes for what you prepare. You will not be doing the actual cooking, you will make more food than is actually served to you, another group having a full wine tasting and lunch will eat some of the food prepared by you. You will not have a wine tasting at the vineyard where the class is held. You will still have a great time, great wine and fantastic food.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Thank you for taking your time to review, it helps us greatly to improve our product. I need to point out here that everyday the farmers markets are in a different location, on tuesdays and saturdays we go to Milas markets and that takes about 50 minutes from the cruise port, on other days its closer. But Bodrum is a whole peninsula where the distances can be very challenging so if you were staying out of Bodrum like Yalikavak or Turgutreis yes it will take more than one hour so it really is up to where you are staying and which day you are taking the class. The recipes are online on our website you just need to send us an e-mail to request your password to asli@cookingclassesbodrum.com The food that you prepared is only served to you and shared by our staff who help us in the kitchen other than that it is never served to restaurant guests. There might be times out of courtesy we o offer a plate to people who are sitting by our cooking class table and are curious about what we are doing there. Wine tastings are not included in this class but you can always order at your expence if you like to. We are happy that you liked the food and the wine.

Great tour! Highly recommend

This was an amazing experience!! If you are even considering it; book it. The market was filled with beautiful produce; then we went to a stunning winery and restaurant to learn how to create the fantastic dishes. Our guides were lovely, humble and created such a lovely day!

Amazing!! Asli texted a day before with a confirmation and when we arrived at the port the driver was waiting. We went to a market with fresh fruit, veggies, and fish; we even sampled food. Karnas vineyards, the cooking class location, was absolutely stunning and the experience was very enjoyable.

I’ve been to many international cooking classes and this one was by far the best. Chef has so much knowledge of traditional Turkish dishes as so many good anecdotes. The farmers market was an added bonus to such a great class. I highly recommend.

Incredible food in a fun atmosphere

Lauren_K, Oct 2024
This was such a fun experience. The food we made was incredible, the staff that ran the experience were so nice and helpful, and trying all the different spices and dried herbs and fruit was a highlight. We absolutely loved doing this during our time in Bodrum. We came off a cruise ship for this and they picked us up and dropped us off at the port.

I’d go again just for the Seabeans

Katherine_D, Aug 2024
This was a TREMENDOUS experience and a wonderful way to spend our day in Bodrum. The pickup from the port was seamless and the vehicle was great (air conditioning!!) The market was bustling and interesting. For sure you need to know your exchange rates before going because they will chance it to get more money out of you, but they will accept foreign currencies. Asli was wonderful and welcoming and a great guide through the market and then through our lunch prep. The food was DELICIOUS as was the wine. Thank you Asli for a phenomenal day!

One of a kind, authentic Turkish experience

Murat_O, Jun 2024
Wonderful! The Farmer’s Market in Güvercinlik was a fantastic experience. Then the cooking class, subsequent food, and wines were excellent. Ms. Belgin was an outstanding guide — friendly, kind, and informative. The setting for the class and lunch was beautiful. Highly recommend!

One Day in Bodrum- spend it here

Chandra_H, Jun 2024
This was one of the highlights of our trip. From the minute we met up with our group (only 7 of us), it was apparent we were in for a culinary delight. The market was mind blowing with abundance. Our chef took us all around introducing us to unique offering from her country. She introduced us to all her friends at various booth. We sampled everything from raw artichoke hearts in lemon and olive oil to rolled up eggplant philo wraps, every variety of olives, spices, dried fruits, you name it. We could have happily stayed there and made a feast off just the offerings of the market. But off we went up the mountain to a MUCH COOLER temp and gorgeous views at the cooking school. Sous chefs in our glory. Chef told wonderful stories of recipes passed down through generations, simple prep tips, spices to add a twist. So many tips and tricks. She had two assistance with her, so this was never an arduous choir. It was a very relaxing experience. We enjoyed our lunch with an amazing local rose’ and finished with the most simplistic dessert that left us all mind blown and craving more. We wrapped it up with traditional Turkish tea while our driver sampled our leftovers. They dropped us off at our requested spot near the castle. If you only have one day in Bodrum, this is an excellent way to immerse yourself in the culture and tradition of this beautiful country. Highly recommended!

Nice afternoon in Milas

Stephanie_W, May 2024
It's a real stretch to title this as a Cooking Class. It is a nice afternoon helping to prepare a few tapas and enjoy delicious wines at a home located near Milas (an hour ride from the cruise port of Bodrum). Our host for the afternoon and her husband were delightful; she shared her tips on how to stuff grape leaves (the filling was already prepared), stuffed Phylo (the filling was already prepared), and a couple of salads. No recipe sheets were provided. From a food safety perspective, please change the order of preparing items so that handling raw meat is the last item (vs using the same boards for the raw meat and later, raw vegetable salad).

Wonderful experience

Learning about Turkish cuisines. The chef was so wonderful. They made you feel right at home. I definitely recommend this tour. You won't be disappointed

Market visit and cooking class in Bodrum

Valerie_M, May 2024
So enjoyable to cook at this home in the country. The view from the patio was fantastic. Could see the lagoon in the distance. Garden was lovely. We all enjoyed making local dishes with our chef. The market tour was so interesting. The abundance of fruits and vegetables was amazing. We enjoyed the tastings at the market. Was truly a special local experience.

Small group experience worked well.

Kathleen_P, Oct 2023
Best food I had in Turkey. Though not much actual cooking vs watching and the chief explaining what she was doing.

Awesome experience

Lisa_B, Oct 2023
My friend and I took part in the Turkish cooking class. It was amazing. Both the ride from the port to the home of the instructor and then the view from her house. We made multiple dishes and then ate them with a glass of wine. I highly recommend this activity. I will definitely make some of the dishes we prepared when I get home. Everything we made was veggie so perfect for vegetarians

Fantastic cooking experience in a stunning location with a great chef

Margaret_G, Jul 2023
Visiting the market and sampling the food, experiencing the wine match with the food, tastng teh food we had prepared.

Fantastic experience

rick_r, Jul 2023
Ours was a wonderfully small-group (3 couples) experience. Lots of personalized attention from Asli. Loved learning about her culinary trajectory and about the vineyard where her tastings, cooking classes, etc., operate. Amazingly gorgeous setting - extremely serene. Low-stress food prep/cooking, even for non-chefs. Delicious meal on a series of sumptuously set tables. Even got to drink the vineyard's beautiful wine. Market experience beforehand was tasty and interesting, but adds travel time, depending where market is held on a given day (location changes daily). Considerable travel time to the vineyard, but well worth it to be among its olive trees, grape vines and resident pets. Enthusiastic five stars!

Truly Excellent Cooking Experience!

Marne_C, May 2023
So, you’re thinking of taking a cooking class in Türkiye? Stop. Book this RIGHT NOW!!! I’ll wait… Okay, you want more details? This is the real deal for foodies, a full day of food shopping, preparation and sumptuous dining. Your instructor Asli is a restauranteur (and a partner in a winery!) She is a completely fluent English speaker, a superb cook, a delightful conversationalist, and a terrific teacher. You’ll begin with an in-depth immersion in a locals-only market of fresh produce, enticing spices, nuts, cheeses, cured meats, just-made filo dough (in 2 foot / 60cm circles!), aromatic teas, and, and, and. You’ll taste nearly everything you see as Asli shops for the day’s ingredients. And then it’s off to Asli’s home for the cooking class. Her patio is graced with breathtaking views and a wonderful outdoor kitchen. You’ll sit around the spacious table and learn the secrets of Turkish cooking from a true master. My wife and I learned at least a dozen new preparation techniques — (You cook eggplant like that? OMG!!!) — and quite a bit about Turkish history and culture. Plus we made some great friends with the other participants in our small-group class. And when it finally came time for the meal, the food we made under Asli’s guidance was truly great, bordering on celestial. Course after course after course, a complete dinner-and-a-half. Yum-a-rama! It was a sensational day, and without a doubt the best cooking class we’ve ever had. (And we’ve had a lot!) Have you booked yet?

Cooking Class in Bodrum

BARBARA_H, May 2023
The experience was fabulous. There were only four of us. We were picked up at the cruise ship terminal with no hassle by our host, then driven in an SUV to a local market where we actually shopped for the ingredients for making lunch. We then went to the host's home and cooked lunch. It was just wonderful getting cooking tips (like grating tomatoes vs chopping them). The five of us sat at her dining room table and ate the food we had prepared. The host was so gracious and it was awesome to be able to see a functioning Turkish home. The tour was just great!

A perfect day - farmer's market tour; cooking; eating; wine tasting and so much more

Gerald_E, Apr 2023
We were overwhelmed by Alsi's knowledge and experience; the beauty of her restaurant and winery; her caring attitude to ensure that we had a great time and received an understanding of all that was on offer. Thank you so much - it would be great to be able to return one day.

Wonderful experience, delicious food and company.

Glenda, Oct 2022
The market was a fantastic experience. Asli sharing her lovely home was more than we expected. She is a very warm person and a perfect host and chef/teacher.

Amazing insight into everyday Turkish life

Seema_J, Jul 2022
As there were just two of us, we were picked up by Asli from our hotel. We travelled to the farmer's market and chose various vegetables of our choice. This was great as we could easily negotiate our allergies. The next stop was a delicatessen where we chose cheese, pepper paste, etc. We then travelled to Asli's house. Asli is easy to talk to and very charming. During the journey it was easy to talk to her about various aspects of the Turkish culture. At her home we spent the rest of the day preparing and cooking a choice of meze and the main course. The food was plentiful and delicious. By the time we were dropped off at our hotel, we were full and felt like we got a real insight into life in Turkey, having learnt in equal parts about the culture and cuisine. By far the best visit of our holiday in Bodrum.

Amazing day cooking with a local family!

Brooke_M, May 2022
I can’t say enough about how fabulous this day was! Alsi picked us up from the port and took us shopping at her neighborhood farmers market, butcher and baker. Then we went to her home and learned how to prepare numerous Turkish dishes while sitting outside in her beautiful outdoor kitchen. We enjoyed learning all about the Turkish culture while relaxing and enjoying the gorgeous view! If you want to do something special, do this!
