Marti gave a great tour! I couldn't recommend it more! He shared his knowledge of all the street art, that present for some time as well as that appearing with just a few days. The music scene differs by day of the week, but Marti knows all and will ensure you have a great time! Everything from a ukulele jam fest, to a Filipino from NYC rocking it, to traditional Irish. Great tour, outstanding guide, book this tour as it will truly elevate your Belfast experience.

Marti loves his hometown of Belfast, and his pride shines through as he winds you through the city core telling you stories of the street art, architecture, pubs, and the history and moral principles that form the essence of Belfast. He's quirky, genuine, and I swear his voice sounds a bit like Van Morrison. He takes you to the Belfast that the locals adore, and will help you avoid the touristy traps. Take this tour when you visit Belfast, you won't regret it.

Why thank you kind sir. I guess like Van the Man, being well travelled your voice changes. Just wish I could sing like him 😀 I thank you for taking the time to leave me your glowing review ✨️

Marti is very quirky but once you get his sense of humour and personality you'll have a great time.
His knowledge of the city is 2nd to none.
We wanted an alternative to all the usual historical tours and we were not disappointed.
My friend and I were lucky enough to be the only ones on our tour and Marti showed us so much including the brilliant array of non political street art aswell as several bars to have a taste of several of the many genres of live music available . He also took us off the beaten track to discover places we would not have known about otherwise.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and highly recommend Marti and this particular tour.

Thank you, I do my best to make the experiences as attractive and interesting for visitors. To add to the streetart and music venues we discover along the way. And share a little of everyday life as we pass social enterprises and other projects that help the locals gel. I thank you for taking the time to leave me your thoughts and recommending this tour.

We picked this tour as we wanted to see a different side of Belfast with the street art and also to experience some of the live music that Belfast has to offer. Our tour guide met us and took us to view the street art of which he was very knowledgeable, however if he didn't like it he would just skip over it even if we had questions. The street art part of the walking tour took about 30 minutes and felt rushed. He also throughout the walk criticised the other tours we had been on.
We then went to the first of what was meant to be 4 pubs to see live music. The atmosphere was great and before we had even got our drinks, he was trying to get us to hurry up and leave. He did recommend for us to get half pints but due to a mistake by the bar staff I got a pint which he was not happy with and made comments about my drinking habits implying I had a drinking problem (I rarely drink and at most average a pint a month over the last few years so this was very offensive). He was the one that recommended to try the locally brewed beer and I was trying to experience all that was on offer. At the next pub he again questioned mine and my friends drinking habits. My friend had a low alcohol beer as due to health reasons he doesn't drink alcohol. This was questioned by the tour guide as it wasn't the beer he recommended despite being told he doesn't drink alcohol. I had half of the beer he recommended and he had a go at the barman for pouring slightly more than half a pint in a pint glass. His behaviour really made us feel uncomfortable and my friend left and went back to the hotel leaving me to pretend he was not well. I then shortly after made my excuses and left and he followed me for 15 minutes making me feel even more uncomfortable. This is the second time I have been to Belfast and the first time I have felt like this as it is such a great city fully of very nice people!
Overall the street art is worth seeing and we went back a few days later to see it in our own time and we went and found the live music ourselves but this can be done on your own. I would recommend that you do a little research and do this on you own or in your own group.

Thanks for your review. I think you misunderstood some info. I run a socially responsible walking tour. And incourage guess to ask for tasters. And suggest ordering half pints in the two half hour stops we make to listen to the live local musicians.
And as for the streetart, in the first half hour we pass at least 70 pieces of streetart, some of it defaced by others. And if you'd continued we'd have seen lots more streetart. And went to a lot more music venues. In the Two and a half hours of the tour I introduce lots of places to go back to on other days/nights while visitors are here. I was concerned for your friend who left early telling me he wasn't well, and was going back to his accomadation as he had a early flight the next morning. And so I started back with you asking you if your friend would be ok. Happy to hear you had further nights to discover some of the places I showed you.

We really enjoyed our tour … a taste of the pubs and music available to enjoy while staying in Belfast. We loved the music so much I could barely tear myself away from each pub as the tour went along. Each pub was better than the last. It’s worth doing the tour early on in your holiday so you can make a plan to visit the places you like the best during your stay. The street art was great & Marty took the trouble to email us interesting links to follow up which was appreciated as well. Many thanks.

Yes I know how you feel. The Misic just gets better as the expereince continues. Being a UNESCO City of Music there is just so many talented musicians here. And the next generation seems to get better. And yes the Street Art is pretty amazing too. And as I could detected you had a real appreciation for the Artist. So sending you further info on them was a must 😀 Thank you for your company, and for taking the time to leave me your review 🙂

3 older ladies lol but what a great time we had loved seeing all the street art then visiting all the old bars stopping for a drink and hearing a bit of Irish music totally recommend this tour

Marty is definitely eclectic! We loved this tour - engaging, informative and jam-packed with stops we'd never have found on our own. Many of the places we stopped are off the tourist track. He gave good background on many of the murals. What a hoot!
We appreciated Marty's perspective on life in Belfast, and his focus on peace and reconciliation.

Why Thank you, I do my best to show my guests Places not always known to visitors to the city. And share with you the background to the Street Art we see. And take you to hear Local live music of different types. And yes share with you all how the Belfast of today is all about Peace and Reconciliation. Thank you for taking the time to leave me your review recommending this walking tour.

This tour was a disaster, Marti, the guide, did not take into account a lots of pubs were closed on a Tuesday evening and that the England football match was on. First 3 bars were closed and the Sunflower where we had a half hour stop was packed with football fans and only had live music in the last 5 minutes! He did not listen to what we the clients wanted and at one point got Agitated when I went down a wonderfully light street to get a photo because it wasn’t his scene. He also marched us past a pub playing live music that we started to sing along to, presumably also not his scene.
We went into an empty pub which is famed for a singer & writers but it was embarrassing as we did not stay and buy a drink, ditto our wander through the the Merchant Hotel to get to the Jazz bar just to look at people other people eating & drinking.
We stopped at Whites and I terminated the tour as it was not what we expecting. Marti did say it wasn’t his fault and he had tried but a good tour guide would have anticipated the issues.

I'm sorry you feel the way you do. The other 18 reviews say something slightly different to how you feel. I had asked at the beginning of the tour if you'd read the discription of the tour. As the first part of the tour was Street Art as far as the Sunflower. And some the bars in that area are closed due to staffing issues, But not apart of that part of the tour. And by the time we got to the first Music stop, your group where already saying the tour was not what they expected. I had shared with you a lot of local Music History and taken you past the Music Museum and a lot of International Street Art.
I really have no control on the type of customer within the places I visit or have any control of when the Musicans play, by the way there was a group of people coming from a book signing event, to listen to the live music the 'Song Club' event which was on, and was delayed because of the England World Cup match on the small television. (That not too many where interested in). The Sunflower is not a sports bar. But did have the match on as it was the World Cup. To keep with the timetable of the tour, we sat off again to get to Whites Beerhall for the next half hour live music venue. And again taking in International Street Art. But for some reason you had desided to go down a street to take photos without letting me know. While I had wanted and was taking the group to a Game of Thrones piece of Street Art. As some of your group where interested in. And I had given them some information on. We couldn't stop everywhere we pasted.
I Also shared with you further information about places well known musicians had played. Again I have no control on the number of people within a bar during a crisis, the bar supports me sharing the history of the venue. I did take you somewhere special to show you their Christmas tree, passing through a cocktail bar (not a resturant). to get to the Jazz Bar.
As your group had told me they had been walking around all day, I wanted to get to our next half hour stop, and so we did pass other venues, Street Art, that I had explained you could return to on futher nights out, you would have while in Belfast.
We got to our next Live Music Venue stop, Whites Beerhall. And you decided you wanted to finish there. As you told me some of your group had to get up early for another tour. So would retire early. There was still an other hour of the tour left. If you had continued I would have shown you other venues some other menbers of your group where interested in. And we would have finish in a third venue with live music. I really don't think you read the discription of the tour, and if you had told me what you where expecting I could have besopke what we did. And just stayed longer in the first pub. Or could have sheduled a further stop. To keep you close to your hotel. I hope you enjoyed your time in Belfast.

Great tour and Marti was the perfect tour guide, very accommodating when we needed to tweak the time of the tour, helped by the fact we were only ones on it. As such Marti customised tour to our likes, as an artist I was keen to see the amazing street art, so we had the right mix of art, pubs and music. Marti finished the tour at a Ukeleles jamming session which was so good we were still there when he arrived with his next tour later that evening.
Highly recommend and love the fact he keeps his tours small, he said never more than 8 - have done walking tours where it’s hard to get near enough to the guide to hear what’s he’s saying.
Loved Belfast and the tour.

So many interesting murals and historic pubs with cool architecture! Marty is very knowledgeable. The pizza at the end of the tour was also fantastic.
