This was an awful experience but so grateful to the guide I was allocated, Sameh, who went out of his way to improve my trip. A person called Amr contacted me before my trip and didn’t know I was going from Aswan to Luxor, he thought I was going from Luxor to Aswan. He was still unable to give me a clear itinerary or start time. After a lot of chasing, I was picked up from my hotel in Aswan 90 minutes later than he said I would be. Then Amr asked me to cancel my booking with Viator, get a refund and pay him cash - extremely unprofessional and dodgy, I refused! When I reached my boat later that day, it was nothing like the pictures in Viator (showing a boat called Esmeralda) nor was it of a similar standard. The room was small, with lots of dust on the carpet and a very basic bathroom. The boat was very dated. I didn’t even feel I could walk without my slippers. I contacted Amr again, who put me through to Ahmed. He informed me that there was no alternative boat and I could continue on this one or cancel my whole trip and sort myself out. Obviously, it was too late to find something so we agreed on a 20% discount but to get this, he cancelled my Viator trip which resulted in a refund and asked me to pay him directly - no doubt, this meant he wouldn’t have to pay any commission to Viator. Then, somebody called Yasir contacted me to say none of the listed Day 4 trips were included and I’d have to pay extra! After I sent him the screenshot of the original programme which had been agreed with Ahmed, he stopped harassing me! The sites were extremely enjoyable to visit but do not book anything with this company via Viator and ask what boat you’ll be on, then check the pics on Google first!
