Freddy and Praylord were amazing hosts. We got a taste of the culture, felt relaxed, and enjoyed the scenery. After 24 hours of flying from new york and only having one day in arusha before heading into the Serengeti.... This was definitely time well spent. So much information to absorb and wonderful memories. And one amazing cup of coffee roasted fresh with song and dance.... Truly special.

My teenage son and I had a fun day exploring the country side of Arusha with Freddie. We picked and roasted coffee, tasted authentic African food, saw the waterfall and swung in the mountains. It was a great way for us to stay awake after 17 hours of travel. I highly recommend this tour if you need something to do around the city.

    Arusha and coffee

    Michael_D, Jan 2026
There were no planned comfort stops and this was over a 6-7 hour experience. Our transportation also suffered a blown tire so we missed out on the last portion of the trip - which we elected to do based on the time delay. The overall experience was enlightening and enjoyable except for the above mentioned.

An Afternoon in a Mountain Village Near Arusha

    Carol_G, Sep 2025
A local man's effort to show his village just outside of Arusha. We toured the grounds, picked coffee beans, which we then ground, roasted, and made coffee. Some of the village young men performed a dance around the fire, we met a young woman studying to become a guide and driver, and a few of the children who came to meet us. It was an interesting, informative, and delightful afternoon. We're glad we chose this tour.

    An unforgettable, wonderful experience

You are welcomed into the village by Freddie and Pamela and all of their friends and neighbours. Walk to a beautiful mountain river. A fantastic lunch and lots of fascinating information and insights into village life and small plantations. The highlight however was the coffee making. From picking beans, all the steps to brewing and finally an excellent cup of coffee. All this accompanied by Swahili songs and dancing. An unforgettable and wonderful experience

Highly recommend this Meru tribe tour

The Best Part of our SAFARI TRIP (unplanned)! (Sep 2024)

    Janine_D, Jun 2025
THE BEST PART OF OUR SAFARI TRIP (unplanned)! (Sep 2024) We booked a luxury safari trip through one of the big tour companies and arrived a few days early to recover from travel before our big tour. We decided to take a local tour offered through Viators. Honestly, it was one of the highlights of our entire trip and gave us a close-up look at the local area of Arusha. We walked through the village with our guide pointing out various flora and fauna and explaining an average day in the life of locals. We ended up at the home of the host for a lesson in making coffee and a wonderful home cooked meal. Finally, we made our way to a wonderful and secluded waterfall, which we more or less had to ourselves. My wife lost her footing on some boulders and the guides kept their cool and took great care to make sure she was OK and well cared for. We got very lucky that it was not worse, and that she was able to walk out on her own as we were deep in a valley. [SIDE NOTE: Be careful and keep close attention to your footing. Bring your own first aid kit (and carry it with you) to Africa with you just for this reason]. We are in our early 60’s in average “American” health. The hike was at a good pace (not too rushed or too slow). The hardest part was walking up the many stairs out of the waterfall area where we had to stop for a few rest periods, especially with my wife’s head injury. The best part of this side tour (as compared to our luxury tour), nothing seemed staged or rushed. Sure, the big game tours were amazing, but when I think of Africa, I think of this tour and our guides. The guides were super friendly and very casual, but well organized and knowledgeable. They took the time to understand us, our interest and adjusted the tour as needed. It was like hanging out with your friends for several hours. We 100% recommend booking this tour.

    Great excursion

A packed day with different activities all thoroughly enjoyable. We learned a lot too. Fred and Anderson were great and Fred’s knowledge and enthusiasm and singing kept us entertained and we were encouraged to participate fully

    Amazing coffee experience

    Pamela_L, Aug 2024
This was an amazing tour and very informative on how coffee is made. Anderson our guide was amazing. Would highly recommend this tour

    Surprising local tour

    Syyuan_C, Aug 2024
This is a hidden gem - not many reviews were a surprise since I was honestly bit suspicious on how the tour will be. It went well and better than expected - spice tour, coffee making tour, village tour and lastly, a nice visit to the orphanage. Lunch was yums too - authentic at its best.

    Absolut empfehlenswert!

    Great african village tour

    Axel_H, Oct 2024
Macht weiter so!
