Truffle Hunt in Avellino Italy

We had the most amazing day. We traveled from Praiano to Avellino which is about a 2 hour private transfer. We escaped the hustle and bustle of the Almalfi coast and were able to experience a beautiful hike through the mountains and meet Argo our truffle hunting dog along with his owner Carmenie. Our guide, Luciano, gave us the history of this small region and navigated our hike. Afterwards, we experienced an incredible lunch and got to eat the truffles we found. The restaurant was called La Carte dei Filangieri and the owner and chef was Antonio. Some of the best focaccia bread, wine, and ravioli we experienced in Italy! I would highly recommend this tour for anyone who loves to be outside. It's definitely a work out, and it would be difficult for small children are people who have mobility issues. Lots of rocks and uneven surfaces, but one of the highlights of our whole time in Italy!

Giuseppe and Carmine could not have been better guides on our successful hunt. Argo, the star of the day, found us many truffles that we enjoyed with our expertly prepared meal at La Corte dei Filangieri. Chef Anthony deserves at least a Michelin star and it’s a crime if he has not been considered. I don’t want to forget to mention William who kept us safe on the road and was a pleasure. Overall, a hit on all cylinders for Viator. A very reasonable price for the value.
