We met at the appointed time and drove about 1/2 hour out to the lodge where the huskies live. Our guide Anouk was great! Our first stop was to put on their winter gear. They have full winter suits, boots, mittens, hats and extra wool socks. She next instructed us about how the sleds work, how to brake, where to stand, how to lean, etc. She then walked us through building the sled team and let us help put on the dog's harnesses and attach them to the leads. We had two sleds and three guests. I went with Anouk and the other guests (mother & son from Germany) took the other. You take turns riding on the sled and then driving the sled. She had the lead sled so she could both guide the way and keep an eye on the trailing sled. Along the way we were fortunate to see some great northern lights! We stopped and turned our lamps off so we could see them. It's really magical as you go through the woods to see the snow and ice crystals sparkling up in the trees! When we got back we watched the dogs get fed, then helped un-harness them and put them back at their house. They then let the puppies out to visit with us, which was adorable. After un-suiting from the winter gear, we had a hot drink upstairs. Because the northern lights we REALLY perfoming well, we hung around in the parking lot chatting and taking photos. We rode back to the meeting point in a nice warm van and said our farewells. It was a great experience. You could tell Anouk and the other guides and caretakers really care about the pups.

This excursion was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The staff were excellent really helpful and animal lovers. The dogs were well trained and exceptionally cute very friendly. We also helped feed and taken to there kennel. This was a wonderful experience and highly recommend.

What an awesome trip! Other outfitters offer dog sledding rides but we got to drive our own dog sled!

Great experience. Loved every moment. Our small group were all novices and the staff made sure we all had a great time driving our dog teams. They also stopped along the route when the Northern lights appeared and took pictures with our dog teams under the coloured sky. Afterwards we learned about the daily routine of the dogs and had a little play with them. Then social time with Norwegian chocolate and hot berry drink. Wonderful way to finish off a fun and exciting evening we will remember for a long time.

Such a fun and exciting experience. Our guide was exceptional. Explained everything in detail so you were comfortable driving the dog sled!!

It was a nice experience. Unfortunately, the weather was bad, and tour appeared short. Would also have liked to learn some interesting facts about the dogs and how they are trained etc. But overall a worth-while experience.

We were lucky to take a clear night at Gargia with cold temperatures and perfect polar lights. The Musher was very friendly and the musher told us all things which were important to know.

We had a great time.
Linda is very kind and does this with all her heart. Transporter Rose is great and even dropped us off at our Airbnb.
It is fantastic to slay for yourself. We did not get to see the northern ligth, but this was only a minor detail.
Great experience!

What a great experience getting to guide and ride our own sled! It was a little chaotic at the beginning but we quickly got the hang of it. We were able to interact with the dogs and puppies and the guides were very good at answering our questions.
Bonus— on the drive back to the hotel the driver stopped in the road and we saw a spectacular northern lights show!
Very good experience and would highly recommend!!

Picked up and dropped off at the agreed point.
It decided to snow, so no Northern lights, but driving through the snow was an experience in itself at night, rushing through the forest, past and over a couple of bridges, over the small rivers.
The lady leading us, gave us a safety briefing and tips at the start, and made sure we were ok. She answered questions at the end, when putting away the dogs, and later having a hot drink.
We had about 1 and a quarter hours of actual driving the dog sled (a long time it feels like), swapping half way (if you wanted to), and covering about 10km's in total.

Our guide was lovely. Such a great teacher. Took her time to show us the ropes and made sure safety was a priority. She was always checking on us and made sure to stop a few times to check the northern lights. After the sledding we got to meet and greet the wonderful dogs. Such a fun experience.

Norway was one of the greatest countries we have visited, and this experience was truly transcendent, exhilarating, and magical. The Northern lights would have been great, but the dogs and the Tundra were what it was all about. Our guide and musher were outstanding, regrettably, however, we’re terrible with human names (possibly Enrico). There’s a special dog named Mira, whom holds my heart though <3.

Fabulous once in a lifetime experience. Some confusion about the meeting point but this was easily and speedily clarified when I emailed the contact at Viator. A real bonus being collected from the cruise port. The guides were lovely, the trail we followed was varied and exciting - like going through Narnia! Being able to drive your own team of huskies was something a lot of other tours did not include and was so exciting. We swapped drivers half way through, but still had over 30 mins each. Boots, snowsuits, gloves etc were provided, but we both got a bit cold when we were passenger, so make sure you wear loads ( especially on your feet).
If we find ourselves in Alta again, we will definitely book another trip.

La sortie en elle même était très sympa, cependant je reste très réservée sur la santé des chiens que j'ai trouvé très amaigris et certains très craintifs à l'approche de la main de l'homme pour simplement une carresse.

Hi, thank you for your review and taking the time to write something. We can assure you that all dogs are well taken care of by our handlers. They are Alaskan Huskies, a breed that next to the more commonly known Siberian Husky is a lot slimmer with less dense fur, which is why they probably seem thin to you. They are however in perfect health, receive the correct amount of food depending on the season and get a lot of exercise and attention.

Amamos a experiência!!
