Absolutely amazing trip up to 400 metres to see the mini eruptions. The guide took an appropriate route which suited all abilities of the group. Medium route taken up and an easy route back down to the starting point. I waited years to see this volcano but thoroughly enjoyed it and was not disappointed

Ashara coms highly recommend! If you choose them make sure to ask for the older Giuseppe as your guide. Remember to start the hike by asking Giuseppe what's his favorite volcano. You will the get the best roller coaster of a hike ending with Giuseppe live commenting the flaming volcano! 11/10 hike, education program, Rollercoaster vulcano ride! Have fun!! :)

The guide was really informative, very interesting, with a good attitude, and really took good care for the group, specially for the people that had more difficulties to hike, he waited, with kindness and consideration. I felt very good with him.
The initial organization was not so good; the meeting point was at 17:00, and we started at 18:00, with absolutely no information from the organizations. Information is vital specially under that heat as preparing for 4 hours hiking without a toilet, requires some some planning. Just a bit of information would had make it more human.

But the guides were very bad, didn't explain anything, didn't tell how long we were staying in each place/stop, a tour in French was proposed but there was no French-speaking guide etc. It's really a pity that you have, by law, to be with guides to do a hike that could be easily done alone.

I absolutely recommend the sunset trek to see the Sciara del Fuoco. Pepe was an excellent guide. They have all the gear you need. I borrowed hiking boots, poles and a backpack for the walk. The meeting place, at Bar Ingrid, has a great view, and you can pick up a snack and water before the trek. Also you finish there and can get a pizza and beer!
Pepe is geologist and spoke to the group in English and Italian to explain the different rock formations we were seeing along our trek caused by the volcano. He also kept the group moving at a pace that was comfortable for everyone. We stayed at a viewpoint to watch the explosions for 1 hour. The wind on that side of the island is more intense, so bring a light sweater or windbreaker to wear while you wait for the explosions.
This is a must if you visit the island!
