Itinerary
After pickup in Adelaide, relax during the scenic 30-minute drive to Hahndorf.
As you exit the city, pass through the cultural precinct of the North Terrace and head up Mount Lofty. Stop at the summit, Adelaide’s highest peak, and get great photo ops of the city, coast, and St. Vincent Gulf. Continue down the road, which winds through the villages of Crafers, Stirling, Aldgate and Bridgewater. You'll see the water wheel of the historic Bridgewater Mill along the way. Your guide shares commentary about the sights during the drive. Stop at the Beerenberg Farm Shop for time to taste and purchase some products (own expense).
Upon arrival in Hahndorf, spend the afternoon exploring the town independently. Australia's oldest German settlement features locally made foods including classic German dishes, a pleasant tree-lined main street, and shops with arts and crafts. Your tour includes tastings of traditional German beer or afternoon tea at the Hahndorf Inn Hotel.
Your tour ends after four hours with drop-off at your starting point in Adelaide.

Peter was so insightful, funny and kind and this was a fantastic way to experience Hanhdorf. A half day tour was just perfect to see the place, leisurely shop and take in the surrounds. You must not skip the beer paddle at Hahndorf inn!

The half-day tour was excellent. Roger, the driver and tour guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. The experience struck the perfect balance between learning about the area and having free time to explore, rather than feeling like a lecture or school excursion. I also enjoyed chatting with other travellers, and the afternoon tea was genuinely delicious. As a solo traveller, I didn’t feel out of place at all, even though most of the group was older or travelling with family. It was a fun, relaxed day that I’d highly recommend.

It was a lovely afternoon out. Hahndorf and the Adelaide Hills well worth visiting.
Peter the driver and guide was good at his job, driving, giving a commentary and a nice person. I would recommend this trip. However, be prepared for many tourists in the holiday time.

Not all the stores at Hahndorf are open for the full day. Also the view point stop was closed because of the car racing . The bus driver Peter was great and loved His humour and stories.

A very enjoyable half day tour. The driver was friendly and his commentary was interesting and knowledgeable. We saw some beautiful scenery and an incredible view from Mount Lofty where we had time to look around and take photos. We had plenty of time to wander around Hahndorf and some more lovely scenery as we returned on different route for part of the way.

The driver was fantastic, The amount of time spent in Handoff was not enough. Although afternoon tea was nice, the service was not. it took a long time, cutting into the look at Handoff. There was only 1 person handing out cake. and one person making coffee.

A short 4 hour tour of the Adelaide Hills a little foodie tour was a different experience in the winter. We had sunshine then rain then hail then more rain then the trip back to Adelaide in sunshine. Knowledgeable guide Roger was great for a chat and local history.

It was a great informative tour. The guide and driver was really friendly and made everyone feel comfortable.
The afternoon tea or beer tasting should be made optional as service at the Inn was slow and most shops had closed when we walked around after the tea.

We really loved the Handorf Village atmosphere was great.. We had a choice of beer tasting or afternoon Tea. We chose afternoon tea and someone on our table chose the beer tasting.

The best money I spent on a tour ever. Really comfortable half-day tour in a spacious bus with a small tour group. The driver Phil was particularly fantastic, giving the internationals a good chance to see and photograph Koalas in the wild. The arvo tea was incredibly good - both the beer paddle and the tea and cake were really good value. The sights were incredible both on the trip and at the destination. I bought some truly magnificent gemstones at Hanndorf (and my jeweler from the Hilton is organizing a chain). Seriously the best experience of my entire trip. Nice overview of Adelaide with some history of the local area. Nice views of the city on the way to Hahndorf and good commentary. I would have enjoyed more time in Hahndorf; we only had time to eat/drink and then race to the bus.

While coach driver-guide was excellent and courtesy pick-up/drop-off great, Beerenberg visit and Hahndorf township were disappointing.
Beerenberg strawberries delicious and worth $7, but jam/sauce products we can buy cheaper in supermarket.
Hahndorf Cuckoo clock shop & afternoon tea great. However, German Pantry and other similar shops closed. Township lacked the 'German' authenticity previously experienced.

Timely pick-up, be 10-15 min early as you may get bonus time on tour accordingly. Lovely view from the lookout of Adelaide and it's structured layout. Great souvenir shop as well with reasonable prices. Seeing the farm and supplier for all the preserves and honey for the Australian Marriott properties is impressive. Their market is busy with good food and decent prices. Some unique items. Hahndorf didn't disappoint. Lots of history here, including some not so perfect, for the German origin settlers who simply wanted to escape persecution in their homeland. They took the land and improved on it with a beautiful settlement and town who's success is confirmed by your willingness to visit. Generations of families and artisans that have continued many traditions. Some great unique finds and good prices. The beer tasting was great as was much of the food at multiple establishments. 2 hours seems like a lot of time, but it goes fast as there are so many shoppes. If shopping is a key outcome, don't waste too much time with eating. Opt for take-away fresh pretzels, and baked goods w/ coffee. Maybe order something to eat along with your beer flight or tea. On the way back, we looked for Koala's along the old highway. I spotted all 3 of the Koala's we saw that day. Driver was impressed and made the comment, Visitors 3; Aussies 0. One nice thing to consider is that this isn't an all-day exhaustive tour. Plenty of time to grab a nice breakfast, visit the market, etc. before the tour and then get back to town in time to do something in the evening whether it be dinner, an event, or sampling the night-life. Michael, our tour guide, provided key colorful commentary and important historical facts along the way. His global mentality was refreshing.
