What are people saying about Hawaii

Wow!!! and more Wow!!!
Dreu Basaluda was an exceptional tour guide. He certainly wore a lot of hats both figurally and literally. He shared his knowledge about craters, volcano eruptions, plants Hawaiian culture, and even astromony with us. The tour was long and we couldn't have seen and done everything we did on The Big Island in a smaller amount of time. Thank you Wasabi Tours for having such a knowledgeable and fun tour guide. Our trip to The Big Island was "BIG" because of the Wasabii and Dreu experience.

Amazing Trip and Guide
Glen was our driver and guide and he was amazing. He was extremely knowledgeable about Maui, and Hana specifically. We learned so much about all the plants, animals, history and Hawaiian stories and he was funny. My mother is almost 80 and he took special care to make sure she was comfortable and doing well. The food was great and we enjoyed each of the stops with including the waterfall pools, black sand beach and the red sand beach. We would highly recommend Glen and this tour!

Pearl Harbour and city tour
Great communication. David our guide arr at hotel on schedule and was friendly and welcoming. Water given and snacks. Van felt crowded as full and hard to hear commentary at rear on way to site with noise of air-conditioning. David was well organized and explained process of visiting Pearl Harbour to make entry smooth, appreciating Military enforcement and rules around respect of memorial. Weather didn't allow us to visit Arizona but we all enjoyed the museums and the movie. The city tour was fabulous and as only 6 in van we all could hear well. Loved the trip up to the punch bowl - very moving- and his knowledge of history of Hawaii and all landmarks in Honolulu was icing on cake. Thanks David, top marks. Our culture is not a tipping one but pleased to give gratuities to this deserving driver.

🌋 BEST TOUR IN HILO—AN ABSOLUTE MUST-DO EXPERIENCE! 🌋
WOW—what an unforgettable experience with Makaio Tours Hawaii! Justin, the owner and guide, is absolutely phenomenal. From the moment we met him, his warm, genuine welcome set the tone for an incredible day.
His knowledge is outstanding, but what really makes him special is how he shares it—engaging, fun, and full of passion. You can tell he truly loves what he does, and it shows in every detail.
The Hilo volcano tour was beyond anything we expected. Justin goes above and beyond to create a one-of-a-kind experience, adding thoughtful touches that make it feel personal and truly memorable.
What really sets this tour apart is how Justin makes you feel—like you’re not just a guest, but part of his ohana. By the end of the tour, it felt like we were exploring with a friend.
If you’re visiting Hilo, do NOT miss this tour. It’s hands-down one of the best experiences we’ve ever had. Justin delivers pure magic!

From Different Countries to One Shared Journey
Travelling in a group has been a really enjoyable experience overall. I’ve had a great time and especially loved the opportunity to meet and speak with people from different countries—it added a whole new layer to the trip and made it feel more meaningful.
One of the best parts of group travel is the shared experience. You’re not just seeing new places, you’re creating memories together, which makes everything more fun and often less stressful since a lot of the planning is taken care. That said,Travellers should know that group travel does come with a few trade-offs. You need to be flexible with schedules, as everything runs on a set itinerary, and there may be times when you have to compromise on what you personally want to do. Personal space and downtime can also be limited, depending on the group dynamic.
Overall, if you’re open-minded, patient, and enjoy meeting new people, group travel can be incredibly rewarding. It’s a great way to explore the world while building connections you might not otherwise have made.

Ship cruiser
Great narration and to the point. Great views and mouth dropping scenes! I would like to see on the phone app a time to destination. It was hard to tell how far we were since we were on a cruise ship we had to turn back without knowing how far or how long it would take us to get back

Fantastic tour. There was...
Fantastic tour. There was so much to learn and see. You can go completely at your own pace and do as much or as little as you like. Very easy to follow directions and it uses your phones GPS, so it knows which road you are on. 100% recommend it for anyone wanting to do some site seeing without booking a tour guide.

Road to Hāna Stunning Scenery
The day starts at 5:45 am and returns about 3:15 to your pickup spot. You are in a 16 passenger van and you are in and out of many times - depending on where you are sitting this can get tiresome because there is only one side entrance.
Our guide Roger was very solicitous of our welfare, very polite and knowledgable.
The only negative was the itinerary requested a $52 to $70 gratuity which is exorbitant (we should not be paying the drivers wages!!!). We were told at the outset that $35 was expected. So best bring cash!!’

The view is breath...
The view is breath taking. The guides are skilled, knowledgeable and hilarious! My kids are 6 and 11 and both were able to zip line by themselves until the 6th and 7th line. That was due to the distance of those lines. All of us had a blast and my son said it was his favorite experience.

The shuttle service is...
The shuttle service is prompt and efficient and I felt like it was a good value.
Eric was our driver and he was informative and friendly. For the hike you definitely need good supportive shoes and sunscreen. The shuttle arrangement gives you ample time to do the entire hike and have a rest or snack afterwards.

Ashley and Alex are the best!
Ashley and Alex were so great. They educated us while finding SO many whales. You can tell they truly care about the species and we learned a lot, but we also got to see so many breaches! We saw flips and turns, spouts and tails... it was amazing! We saw 6 or 7 different whales, including a baby who was quite playful! The zodiac ride is not for the faint of heart-- it's bumpy but FUN and we loved our experience. We would do it again, most definitely!!

Loved the whale watching tour!
What a great experience! Aiden (sp?) and his crew did a fantastic job finding whales and dolphins to see. Aiden delivered information about the whales with humor and knowledge. Also the music onboard was great. What more could you ask for…beautiful water, whale and dolphin sightings and a great crew to make it a memorable experience for my family. Highly recommend this excursion. Thank you!
