A unique experience to explore Cretan Countryside for a day, if you don't feel like going to the beach! We offer two hiking options: 1) hike the Meskla Gorge or 2) hike the botanical gardens . After your hiking choice we stop at the caffe inside the gardens for a refreshing break. Then we are driving to the scenic village of Zourva to enjoy the amazing views. Later we head to the historic village of Theriso where you have lunch at the traditional taverns with authentic cretan dishes. Last, we return to Chania from the picturesque way through Theriso gorge. A unique path leading through beautiful nature and serene landscape, far away from traffic any traffic noice. The path will take us to an old church with beautiful views and an old spring. We will teach you many things about the local flora, talk a lot about the indigenous trees and their stories, show you our little saplings along the path. We use this paths for our local trail running races too. You will experience routes that local athletes enjoy running on all around the year! You'll start by driving through the White Mountains to your starting point – the Xyloskalo staircase, which zigzags some 200 meters down into the gorge. You'll pass tiny chapels, walk between the high ravine walls and maybe spot some of Crete's wild ‘kri-kri' goats. The highlight though, is the ‘Iron Gates' – the narrowest section of the gorge where the 300-metre-high walls stand just 3 meters apart. At the end, you'll reach the seaside village of Agia Roumeli, where if you've made good time, you can take a swim or relax in a taverna. Then, when everyone's ready, you'll catch a boat along the coast to where your coach awaits. Great for outdoor types.
