Our kids insisted on this...
Our kids insisted on this tour and I am glad we did it. It was totally worth the time spent and the price. They offered multiple fruits and snacks to taste - chocolate covered frozen banana, sugarcane, soursop, fresh banana, home made rum, papaya, mango, cacao fruits. We ground coffee and cocoa beans, they made hot cocoa and coffee out of it, served them to us. They also gave us handmade chocolates. Plus, lot of historical information shared on coffee and cacao.

Recommend!
A wonderful tour! Our guide was excellent, very informative and enthusiastic. It was great to learn about the process of making chocolate and see the stages from the bean to the chocolate itself! It was also fun to be included in different processes such as the grinding of the beans. We loved the tasting and creating of our own chocolate’s and this really made the tour stand out! I would definitely recommend doing this tour!

Learning experience!
Guides are very knowledgeable about wildlife and plants. They have telescopes to help find the sloths among the trees and are very patient with pointing them out. We don’t speak Spanish (English) - had no problem communicating in English throughout. Great way to learn about the natural habitat and see some of the natural animals.

A must-do for anyone who loves chocolate and coffee!
This tour is simply amazing! For the price, this experience can’t be matched. Listed as a two hour tour, the host was kind enough to extend the duration due to our deep interest in the process of making chocolate and coffee: The tour is situated in the shop, where we got to have a hand on experience, lecture, and question/answer session wrapped together into a very informative mid-day activity. In addition to learning about the specifics of cacao and chocolate, we were able to sample cacao at the various stages of production, in addition to grinding our own cacao and coffee beans. Lunch was provided, consisting of Casado, a traditional Costa Rican dish, paired with a delicious fruit drink. For the price, this experience and included lunch was great! Thank you to Rosbin and his assistant, and the staff at the cafe for a great afternoon!

The cacao bean is a prevalent crop in Costa Rica, so this Central American country is an ideal vacation destination for sampling locally-produced chocolate. On one of these Costa Rica chocolate tours, you can learn how cacao beans are farmed and processed into a delicious sweet treat. Some combo tours include an immersive experience at a coffee plantation, as well. You'll sample the goods with on-site tastings no matter which Costa Rica chocolate tour you choose.
