In November to January, the orcas, humpback whales and other whales gather in the fjords close to Alta for their big herring-feast. These gentle giants enjoy their "food platter", and to witness this remarkable sight will give you memories for life. And this experience does not end here. The area is also home to the Arctic dolphins, the majestic sea eagle, with a wingspan up to 2.5 metres and other seabirds - species. We use different boats according to the size of the group and the weather conditions, but our local guide will always accompany our group. Under the boat transfer to the hot-spot and in periods when the whales are diving, you can stay inside in the warm cabin and enjoy hot chocolate and snacks. Set out in search of the northern lights—and explore the landscape in a more active way than most other hunts—on this all-terrain vehicle (ATV) adventure from Alva, including hotel transfers. Drive to the village of Kviby, receive a safety briefing, and hop onboard your own vehicle. Zoom along coastline terrain, look out for the aurora borealis, and travel with guides who know the best viewing spots.

You will start your adventure with a 30 min drive up to our historical Gargia Lodge. From the lodge we will embark on an adventure into the Gargia forrest. Along the 2km long trail you will get to breath in the crisp forrest air and maybe experience wildlife also. After around 1,5 hour we will reach the waterfall, a magnificent conductor, orchestrating its dance over the ancient rocks. On the riverbank we will enjoy a short rest with coffee, tea and snacks. Join us for a ride along Norway's longest historical postal route. While the route was operated in the 19th century 30 different reindeer herding families got their mail delivered to them along this road. You will get a glimpse of what it used to take to deliver a mail up here in the sometimes-harsh, rough conditions of the arctic. We will take you on journey, following part of the original route between Gargia and Suolovuopmi Mountain Lodge. This trip gives you an exhilarating way of exploring the arctic scenery just right outside our doorstep. While driving through the magical winter landscape, there is a possibility to see wildlife as well. This is not a show put on for visitors — it is a working home built around one animal: the Alaskan husky, the finest long-distance runner alive. No creature on earth covers ground the way these dogs do, day after day, mile after mile. That is what we breed for. That is what we race. It is private — never more than two guests per guide — so nothing is rushed. Afterwards there is time with the dogs, and a fire, drinks and stories in the Lavvo, where you hear what a life given to racing huskies is really like. Short, fast, and honest.
