Holmen Husky is a racing and breeding kennel with more than forty years behind it. This is not a show put on for visitors — it is a working home built around one animal: the Alaskan husky, the finest long-distance runner alive. No creature on earth covers ground the way these dogs do, day after day, mile after mile. That is what we breed for. That is what we race. It is private — never more than two guests per guide — so nothing is rushed. Afterwards there is time with the dogs, and a fire, drinks and stories in the Lavvo, where you hear what a life given to racing huskies is really like. Short, fast, and honest. While the route was operated in the 19th century 30 different reindeer herding families got their mail delivered to them along this road. You will get a glimpse of what it used to take to deliver a mail up here in the sometimes-harsh, rough conditions of the arctic. We will take you on journey, following part of the original route between Gargia and Suolovuopmi Mountain Lodge. This trip gives you an exhilarating way of exploring the arctic scenery just right outside our doorstep. While driving through the magical winter landscape, there is a possibility to see wildlife as well.
