So comfortable. They thought of everything! I loved the bean bag seats and hot tea! Just the right amount of time. Not too much talking but still informative and interesting.

This Stargazing tour was so awesome! Everyone involved is incredibly nice and knowledgeable. We learned a lot and saw a bunch of cool things in the night sky. Would highly recommend adding this to any trip to Joshua tree. Directions & signage leading us to the site were both super easy to follow. Thanks again to this team for a memorable experience!

It was an amazing experience and totally worth it. They are super knowledgeable about the night sky and outer space! We even saw the moon rise above the mountains it was beautiful. We got to see constellations, planets, Galaxies and see beautiful stars and up close. I went solo on my birthday it was very special for me. They took a beautiful night photo of me too! I loved it thank you!!! It was so cold at night so it is important to come prepared. They are so sweet they gave us a blanket, hand warmers and hot drinks and chocolate ☺️💜. Thank you for making my birthday special. Also loved how they made visible signs to get there and to leave it was very helpful I very much appreciate it!!! 💜💜💜

The guides were phenomenal - so knowledgeable about the constellations and galaxies. We really enjoyed it. I don’t recommend going on a full moon - too bright. We will have to come back for the full experience some day

Unique evening in the desert!

Matt_D, Apr 2026
Unique, comfortable, and fun. The crew behind this experience has really thought about everything needed to make an easy, enjoyable night in the desert. Comfortable bean bag loungers, hot coffee/tea/cocoa, blankets and binoculars at every station, engaging storytelling and great equipment. Tip: Drive out early, go to the BBQ restaurant in Pioneertown for dinner or drinks (and a final bathroom break) before the short 5-minute drive over to the meet-up point.

Must Do!

Way beyond our expectations

Lowry_G, Mar 2026
This was so incredibly well-organized, thoughtfully communicated, and thoroughly thought through - my family and I have honestly not experienced a tour this well done through viator. (And, we’ve done quite a few that we’ve loved!) Matt, and the two other wonderful folks he works with were incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely seemed to love sharing their knowledge with our group. Matt was an incredible story teller as well as teacher - he also shared two relatable analogies about space and planets that helped shape this experience into the cool learning opportunity it was - but I won’t spoil any surprises! Logistically we were comfortably able to lay down on bean-bag type mini-beds that supported our bodies from our heads through to the crook of our knees. If this wasn’t a comfortable position for you, they also provided chairs. We then alternated as a group between Matt expertly explaining a ton of constellations, their mythological background, and looking through the team’s widely powerful telescopes at objects you could never imagine!! Do it now! We want to go again and again!!

Worth every penny! We went with our two kids (12 and 7) and we all loved it. None of us are big “space nerds” but the way the information was delivered by the astronomer made it interesting for all of us. We would definitely do this again.

Amazing, entertaining, and comfortable!

Gary_P, Mar 2026
At first I was a little nervous, but this was without a doubt one of the best activities in which I've participated. Thr guide, Matt, was amazing, knowledgeable and entertaining. The clouds cleared and seeing galaxies and planets all while being warm, and comfortable was perfect. I highly recommend this tour.

Dark Sky Adventure

Edith_C, Mar 2026
This activity was amazing and far more than I expected. After following detailed instructions to the meeting point, we were met by guides and led through the solar system to our viewing site. Comfortable bean bag seating prevented strained neck muscles. Blankets, hot drinks and hand warmers kept you comfy in the cold desert night. Binoculars were provided for a closer look. Oh, yeah, the stars. Our astronomer in chief, Matt, pointed out constellations and told us the stories of the heavens and the societies that created them. There were telescopes set to view specific things and the team was available to talk about them. Then a second round of constellations. And a second round of telescope viewing. We had a portrait done set against the night sky and photos of the telescope views were sent to us. The staff was professional, friendly, very knowledgeable and were able to share that knowledge in a clear and understandable way. I cannot recommend this activity enough!

Must do!

Neha_P, Mar 2026
A wonderful look at the night sky! A great way of learning about the planets and solar system. We enjoyed everything about the experience. Definitely dress in layers!!

Memory Maker!

Heather_B, Mar 2026
Absolutely, incredible family memory making experience! It’s a hefty price tag, but I’m so glad we decided to do it.

Richelle_B, Mar 2026
Make sure you take layers of clothes. It really does get cold. Everyone was very knowledgable and just lying looking at the stars was relaxing and amazing. I would have enjoyed it more with more layers but my luggage didn’t make it so I didn’t have the clothes I packed for the outing.

Don’t use Viator to book this!

Anonymous, Mar 2026
Absolutely amazing! Very knowledgeable guides who guided us through the night skies. It got cold out there but were provided comfy yoga beanbags, blankets and hot chocolate to enjoy the remoteness of the area and the gorgeous night skies. The only problem was that Viator charged us for a double booking in error and still trying to get a refund from them! Even our guides realized that it was an accidental double booking due to the same names, information, etc. So if you can book this excursion directly or with another company, would definitely recommend that!

Totally worth it.

Stephen_S, Mar 2026
This was top notch. They provided a super comfortable bean bag chair to rest on and blankets to wrap up in since it was chilly. They are very knowledgeable about there equipment and all the facts about the night sky. Our whole family was very happy with the tour. We all said as soon as we got in the car everyone would do it again.

Spectacular !!

jessica_c, Feb 2026
Beautiful surroundings, Jay was incredibly knowledgeable about the cosmos. We learned so much and every bit of it was just fascinating. They do a great job of making you comfortable with the beanbag recliners and blankets. Loved every minute!

Interesting and beautiful cosmos

Alice_K, Feb 2026
From start to finish this tour was engaging and well done. The ratio of participants to tour guides made the evening seamless. They had multiple high magnifying telescopes that they set up on different sites so we could wander around and look at the views multiple times if we wished. The blankets were welcome and warm even though I thought I dressed warm enough….ha! (A knit hat is a good idea) The presentation was engaging and well presented so those of us who can barely remember the names of the planets could follow along. The hard part was rolling off the bed like a beached whale when I needed to get up, (I wish I had a video of that LOL.) They send pictures of the telescope views and a few of the group to you the next day to remember your night. HIghly recommend this memorable evening!

Be Curious & Humble

James_M, Feb 2026
Astronomy is about so much more than naming stars. It is our common humanity writ large across the sky. Listen closely and you will hear humility. See with open eyes and you will understand why.

Wow

von_n, Feb 2026
So amazing. I dont want to spoil it for anyone but wow. Now only if I saw a shooting star, I’d be over the moon. Next time. It’s cold in Feb so dress warm

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Wow, your review has us shining brighter than Sirius! We hope to share the night sky with you again and have you over the moon with a meteor display: The Perseids meteor shower in August and Geminids in December hold the highest probability of shooting stars.

A great evening with the stars

Toni_N, Feb 2026
This was very well done - it was super interesting, kept moving along with new and cool information as well as 6 different telescopes to enjoy different looks into space. It did get chilly - the lounge bean bags with blankets helped so much as did the hot beverages. They even had a step stool for short me when I needed a boost to look through the telescope lens - brilliant! Highly recommend - done very well.

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, we are so glad you enjoyed! We hope to see you out under the stars again soon!

Best show on Earth!

Steven_C, Feb 2026
This adventure was a great tour of the stars and planets and even included a once in a lifetime (for us) sunset blast off of the SpaceX rocket from Vandenberg. The informative and interesting guides allowed us to see planets, galaxies and nebulae close up with their state of the art telescopes.

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Your review has us launching into space, what a stellar night! Thanks for sharing!

Hot chocolate in the desert

Donna_R, Feb 2026
Very cool experience but it does get cold out there so dress warm. In layers would be perfect. They provide hot drinks, chocolate, and even hand warmers. I saw Saturn’s rings. I am not a nature person but I really enjoyed this.

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Thank you for 'ringing in' with feedback on your experience! We hope to see you again soon!

Well organized, thoughtful set up, and very interesting. Matt encouraged questions and was able to answer *almost* everything. Learned a lot even though our experience ended early bc clouds set in. Rec’d a full refund and am looking forward to rebooking for the full experience.

Response from Host, Feb 2026

We appreciate your feedback and understanding as weather is the hardest part of stargazing! We hope to host you again in the future!

Hoys Joshua Tree Stargazing 2026

Joseph_H, Jan 2026
2 weeks in CA desert & This was our final adventure with our party of 8 (two 56 year olds & 6 twenty something’s) - and it was unarguably the most memorable moments we had ..”highly recommended!” - be sure to head the warnings of “dress warm” & no cell service other than that ..an absolute gem of a guide on an A+ experience (nothing strenuous at all for those not too agile -all flat ground walks

Response from Host, Feb 2026

We are beyond thrilled to read your stellar review! Proof that the best moments really do happen after dark. Thank you for joining us!

Magical experience under the stars!

Justina_A, Dec 2025
One of the most magical and awe-inspiring experiences my team and I have ever had. Matt and Chris were incredibly knowledgeable and creative in how they explained the universe, making everything feel accessible and inspiring. We even saw a very bright shooting star! I’ve already recommended this experience to family and friends and would absolutely do it again.

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Every night is unique and we are so glad this one put on a wonderful show for you! Thank you for your kind words!
