This is a fun, informative and funny tour on a nice warm bus with knowledgeable people, in costume and in character, with true historical depth about Boston. We visited 2 graveyards and in between visits the guide, in a semi-creepy costume, peppered us with scary lore and groaner jokes. Reasonably priced and a great way to learn a lot about Boston; highly recommend this!

Itinerary

Boston’s original “frightseeing” tour is an evening of fear and fun. Climb aboard the Trolley of the Doomed for an experience unlike any other. Uncover Boston’s darkest secrets and hear the stories of those lost souls who many locals believe still wander the streets and alleys of this historic town.

Learn about some of the city’s most sinister characters, from Albert DeSalvo, better known as the Boston Strangler, to Jane Toppan, aka Jolly Jane, one of the most prolific serial killers in American history.

Walk through two of the oldest burial grounds in Boston, including Old Granary, the final resting place for many notable Revolutionary War-era patriots like Samuel Adams, John Hancock and Robert Treat Paine, plus Paul Revere and the five victims of the Boston Massacre. Also, visit the site of the biggest grave-robbing scandal in New England’s history.

Come with an open mind and see if any ghosts appear. It’s a ride on the dark side.

Great tour

Ghosts and Graveyard Tour We had a great time! Ronnie was a great story teller and made it fun along the way. He really got into his character and tried to draw us all into his back story. I would recommend this tour to anyone that wants to hear the tales and see a few cemeteries.

You need a jacket on the night tour because they have the trolley windows open. Plan on doing a bit of walking. The staff was very entertaining and extremely cordial!!!! We are happy we took this tour!!

Don't miss this hauntingly fun graveyard tour!

Christina_T, May 2026
Such a fun way to tour Boston with teens. I had chaperoned a similar trip for my oldest daughter's 8th grade East Coast trip back in 2007, now that my younger daughters are around the same age, I wanted them to experience some of the highlights of that trip. All of the walking graveyard tours were already booked for the day we needed, reluctantly I paid the extra few dollars per ticket for the trolley tour. Turns out it was money well spent! The trolley was so much fun and the tour guide was able to really spin his tales while he had a "captive" audience. Our girls are young teens, making them the perfect age for understanding and appreciating the history without being scared of the ghost stories or graveyards. There was one younger child on the tour, maybe 7-8. They didn't seem scared, but it was hard to tell if they were understanding much of what was being talked about. on the technical side.. Ordering the tickets through Viator and accessing the tickets with my phone was very easy and convenient. This tour met up in a very different area of Boston than the daytime walking tour, so pay careful attention to that. We did the trolley tour in early April and although it did not rain, we definitely needed our hats, scarves, and coats. At the first stop we did not leave our backpacks/purses on the trolley for fear that we would not be sitting in the same seats, so we were lugging them through the graveyard, just to come back and be seated in the same seats. At the second stop the driver made an announcement that we could leave our personal belongings on the trolley. My suggestion would be to ask up front as you board, so that you aren't questioning it like we did. I happened to have cash and was happy to give the crew a generous tip at the end. Just a reminder to bring along a little cash if you are a tipper.

Interesting ghost tour, a little repetitive if you have done a lot of sightseeing before you take the tour. Friendly tour staff.

Fun time!

Brianna_R, Apr 2026
The tour guides were very engaging and knowledgeable. The tour was not what I expected and focused more on the macabre history of Boston which was a pleasant surprise. Be prepared to step off the trolley a couple of times to venture into the graveyards (dress accordingly)! Overall totally recommend. It was a lot of fun!

A hilarious tour of local graveyards and ghost-lore of Boston!

Michelle_P, Apr 2026
We left the tour early it was so bad. The tour guide’s stories didn’t match what we were seeing at the time. Totally missed Bunker Hill because she brought it up after we passed. Same situation with the Boston Strangler. So disappointing! The audio system on the trolley was terrible as well.

So much fun!

Sara_D, Apr 2026
Silly, spooky and fun! Our teenagers were a little bit skeptical going in and they ended up having a blast.

At first we weren’t sure about what we got ourselves into but it turned out to be great! We also went in April and it was chilly in the evening!

Good time

Teresa_D, Apr 2026
Historical tourism with jokes and spookiness! This was a fun experience, and a great way to see and learn.

Fantastic Mix of Ghosts and History!

Steven_P, Apr 2026
We had a great time, my 11 year-old loved it! It was a great mix of ghost stories and history and it was a great final event of our freedom trail vacation.

A fun spooky time!

Rachel_M, Apr 2026

Fun evening

Dana_E, Mar 2026
Our family such a fun night! Ronny, our guide, was extremely entertaining and made the evening so enjoyable. I would definitely recommend.

Best Ghost tour ever!

Traci_G, Mar 2026
Petunia was so engaging and entertaining, while also being extremely knowledgeable about the history and lore around Boston’s ghoulish history. We couldn’t have had a better experience!

Aleksey_O, Mar 2026
Not what expected. Good intention but I guess you need to be a little buzzed to enjoy it more I would be more happy if it would be a story teller about dark Boston history as a normal excursion.

Haunted tour in Boston

Juliet_D, Mar 2026
You walk around the 2 historical graveyards in Boston. They tell funny stories and interesting factoids about different people who died and famous deaths in the area (back in colonial times mainly).

The entertainment value...

Janelle_E, Mar 2026
The entertainment value is there. The tour guides are funny and entertaining. There isn’t a lot of history or stories covered, though.

Entertaining and historic!

Andora_S, Mar 2026
We had a fabulous tour guide, a funny Irishman who told us tales of ghost stories, serial killers, legends and lore. We stopped at the Kings Chapel Burial Ground, Boston’s old city hall, the Old State House, the Boston Stranglers old stomping grounds in Beacon Hill, Boston Commons where hangings and stockades for punishments were, Park Street Church and graveyard, a few patriots graves: Samuel Adam’s, Paul Revere and James Otis and heard stories of the most haunted hotel in Boston, the Omni Hotel. This was so entertaining, historic and fun!!

Great experience and nice to have the trolley take us around so that we were warm and well rested when we got to the sites

Recommend to Book Swiftly!

Crystal_Y, Feb 2026
Most comical rendition of history that adapted the learning experience to something people really want to listen to Mo matter who you are. Well done!

Great tour

Mayra_N, Jan 2026
Don't go in winter! I was freezing! Guide was amazing, funny and very professional . It was a fun experience.

Super fabulous

Major kudos to the tour people for taking us out in the freezing cold! They were fantastic! Learned lots and had a great time!

B-K Ghost Tour

Joseph_B, Jan 2026
Lots of fun. Guides (Malachi and Petunia) were both fun and informative. Really enjoyed the stories.

Meh…

N_K, Dec 2025
We have done ghost tours in many cities (St. Augustine, FL was the best) and we’re excited to hear Boston’s ghost stories. Unfortunately, our tour guide was not very good at all. I’m sure my review would be better if we had had a better guide but based on our experience we would not recommend this tour. The guide was just not informative and spent most of the tour trying, unsuccessfully, to be funny.

The dark side of Boston tour

Carole_L, Dec 2025
What an amazing time!! Bernard and his colleague made the tour!! We enjoyed the interesting historic details while riding and walking through Boston!! We had lots of laughs together as a group too!! Would absolutely do it again!!

Brad_H, Nov 2025
It was a great tour with funny moments and a lot of very interesting facts about Boston and people who lived there

Great storytelling

Shannon_C, Nov 2025
We’ve done ghost tours in several cities and this is a good one. Well run experience from start to finish. Check in went smoothly. The guides were knowledgeable and great storytellers. Our group of teens and adults all enjoyed it. I would recommend it for anyone 10 or older with the exception of people with mobility issues. Walking around the graveyards at night could be a challenge.
