Amazing private tour in Shanghai

We had an absolutely outstanding experience on our private tour of Shanghai and Zhujiajiao water town — a true five-star day from start to finish! Our guide, Lin, was exceptional in every way. Her knowledge was incredible, and she shared so many fascinating facts and insights throughout the tour that really brought each location to life. She struck the perfect balance between being informative and engaging, making the whole experience both educational and enjoyable. Lin’s English was excellent, which made everything so easy to understand and allowed us to fully appreciate the stories and history she shared. We always felt comfortable asking questions, and she was more than happy to provide thoughtful and detailed answers. Zhujiajiao water town was a highlight — absolutely beautiful and full of charm — and Lin made sure we didn’t miss any of its hidden gems. We also really loved the lunch she arranged for us; it was delicious and a perfect opportunity to relax and take in the day. Overall, this was a truly memorable experience, and we couldn’t have asked for a better guide. I had a wonderful evening with TJ and Lotus showing us some hidden gems in central Shanghai. We got lots of information about the specialities and food culture not just from Shanghai but across China. We had a very smooth and enjoyable Suzhou tour. The pick-up and drop-off between the hotel and bullet train station were prompt and professional, which made the logistics completely stress-free. The itinerary also had a good balance between walking and being driven, and the car provided was comfortable and of good quality. Our guide, Lulu, was excellent. As a Suzhou native, she knows the city extremely well and shared insights with just the right level of detail—informative without being overwhelming. For improvement, it would be great to include a few more sites in the itinerary. Ideally, at least two gardens and one temple would make the experience feel more comprehensive.

Funny stories and great food

This tour was just what I...

This tour was just what I wanted to visit Zhujiaiao. Because we had already seen many of the sights in Shanghai I didn't want to go on a longer tour. The length of this one was perfect. Kalvin and the driver picked us up at our hotel at 10:00 am sharp. The car was very clean and comfortable, and the driver was highly competent. Kalvin was very knowledgeable and a great host. We had a delicious lunch and had a thoroughly pleasant day. On a side note, Kalvin pointed out a restroom to use before the long drive back to the city. It was spotlessly clean, and I was pleased to see that the accessible cubical at the far end had a western toilet!

A fantastic experience

This was a fantastic day out. Caroline was a fantastic accommodating guide. We were carefully shown around several sites as well as enjoyed a canal ride and rickshaw ride. Lunch was delicious and vegetarian dietary requirements were accommodated. Caroline was friendly, and passed on so much knowledge. It was a very enjoyable day out including the driver navigating very busy streets. Lots of photo advice and opportunities for breaks.

I was apprehensive about booking a tour guide for a solo day experience in Shanghai, but I need not have worried. May is an excellent tour guide. She was so patient with all my questions and incredibly knowledgable about everywhere we went. I made multiple changes to the original suggested itinerary making this even more impressive. Alana behind the scenes was always attentive ensuring the whole experience went smoothly and our driver was on point. Always close by ready for the next stop. May made the experience so worthwhile I will plan to book a similar tour when I get my wife to come to Shanghai.

Tom picked us up from our hotel, took us through the city where he gave us interesting facts and information on the way to the boat. Once there he ushered us to the proper boat where we enjoyed a VIP section of the boat complete with outdoor seating and a very comfortable interior. The city really must be enjoyed from the river at night. It’s quite nice. Afterwards we visited a couple “must see” areas before returning to the hotel. Tom was professional, had a very comfortable van, was knowledgeable and a pleasure to spend time with. I think Tom made this excursion a good value. I’m glad we chose a private tour.
