All Guilin Tours & Excursions in 2026

Had a solid tour with Leo. In my opinion, this is the best day trip to the fields. You get a private driver and English guide for the same price as some group tours. We took the electric car up to platform 2 and walked down to 1, then down to a delicious lunch. Both the car and lunch were a small extra payment. A few things to keep in mind with Longji 1. You’re in the mountains, which means weather changes quickly. And your tour guide doesn’t control the weather 2. To increase your chances of a clear day, aim for end of May to early October. But, again, see 1 3. The long hair show is once a day at 11am off peak (before May) and 5 times / day peak season. I chose to leave at 9am so we didn’t make the 11am show 4. The traditional festival is 3rd day of the 3rd lunar month, this year it was April 19, probably very cool experience. But I was too early. 5. There is a 3 platform, much higher, you can take an optional ropeway to, but you’d definitely need a clear day. So, ultimately I chose to leave late-ish at the end of rainy season, and I missed the hair show and had a misty day, but I enjoyed hanging out with Leo, the terraces were peaceful, he was more than happy to answer all my questions, walk with me the whole way, and chose an excellent spot for lunch.

Our tour guide Jeff was amazingly informative, helpful and funny. Nothing like a local person to teach you about the area and its history. We were well looked after like 'vips'. We would definitely have Jeff as our guide again if we came back to guilin.

Beautiful visit to the rice terraces. Our guide Jerry offered to take us to the Dazhai section, which I highly recommend—quieter, more dramatic landscapes, a nice cable car ride up followed by an easy hour-long walk down. Really peaceful afternoon with stunning scenery. Jerry was also helpful in assisting us to arrange other activities in town. Great experience!
