Rio Bueno is a seaside village in northern Jamaica, and there’s no fee to visit it—it’s also the name of the river that runs through the village. Tours that pass through the village and visit its harbor range in cost, depending on what they offer. Shorter tours can cost as little as US$45 per person, while excursions that feature activities start around US$150.

River tubing excursions on the Rio Bueno typically last about half a day, including the journey time from Montego to the river and back. Some excursions include additional stops or activities, such as waterfall hiking, time to relax on nearby private beaches, or horseback rides.

Yes, Rio Bueno is definitely worth visiting, especially if you like spending time in the water. The river itself passes through lush jungle and is a popular spot for tubing excursions, while the town of Rio Bueno offers a quiet retreat from the busier hubs along Jamaica's North Coast.

Yes, it’s smart to book Rio Bueno excursion tickets in advance. As tours require specialized gear and a guide, book at least a day ahead—many people prefer to book well in advance to guarantee availability. For added value, many excursions include transportation from the Montego Bay area.

If you don’t join a tour from Montego Bay or Falmouth that includes transportation, you’ll need to either hire a taxi to drive you to Rio Bueno and back or rent a car. The A1 coastal highway will take you to the village of Rio Bueno.
