Never got the audio guide for this tour. Basically just paid for the ticket (which without the audio tour was way too much).
Colloseum is definitely worth visiting though. Spectacular place.
Response from Host, Aug 2026

The only reason it’s not 5 stars is because I chose the 8:30am time on the app but the tickets they sent were for 9:15am. Tickets still worked great though!
Response from Host, July 2026
Dear Visitor,
Thank you for your kind review.
We have secured your tickets for 9:15 AM. This is because, these days, there is a long queue starting from 8:30 AM, and visitors often have to wait outside the entrance, which can cause delays and inconvenience. To ensure a smoother and more comfortable experience for you, we arranged your entry at 9:15 AM.
Thank you.
Paul_F, July 2026
Be expected to queue and in parts in hot baking sun without shade or refreshment a little confusing at start with people stood around wondering what to do first.
Response from Host, July 2026
Thank you for your feedback, we’re really sorry to hear about your experience. We understand how uncomfortable it can be to queue in the heat, especially without shade or refreshments, and we apologize for any confusion at the start of your visit.
Your comments are very helpful, and we’re already looking into ways to improve signage, organization, and guest comfort during busy periods. We truly appreciate you taking the time to share this with us and hope to provide you with a much smoother and more enjoyable experience in the future.

We have used Viator many times and this was by far the worst experience we have ever had. We booked and paid for a Colosseum tour well over a month before our trip. The day before our tour, we received a text from the tour company stating they did not have our tickets and we were out of luck. After many texts back and forth with the company, they finally offered a general admission ticket instead of our original tour which included general admission, access to the Colosseum floor, and a guided tour. We accepted the general admission ticket rather than miss one of Rome’s biggest attractions.
While trying to resolve the issue, we reached out to Viator for help with the tour company but were told they wouldn’t assist and we should deal with the local company directly. Great customer service!
Additionally, I now see that there are tons of bad reviews for this tour company where families have experienced similar issues. This raises the question, why does Viator allow this company to use their platform knowing their reputation? Do they simply not care or is the money more important than their customers?
Response from Host, July 2026
Dear Visitor,
Thank you for your feedback.
We would like to clarify that your review does not accurately reflect the situation. You booked a general admission ticket, which was delivered to you as confirmed. We kindly recommend carefully reading all instructions and details provided before completing a booking to ensure a smooth experience.
Thank you for your understanding.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review.
Sarah_B, July 2026
A day to remember. Organised like clockwork. Recommend this tour company. No need to collect tickets from an office. All completed electronically. Really easy.
Response from Host, July 2026
Thank you so much for your wonderful review.
Niamh_F, July 2026
Very good experience booking with this company. We were clearly given the information both in email and through WhatsApp as where to queue, how to use our tickets and given good advice about which gates were more quiet to enter Palatine Hill and the Forum. The audio guide provided was also interesting.
Response from Host, July 2026
Thank you so much for your wonderful review.
Julian_F, July 2026
We saw this wonder of the Roman era, worth the walking and the heat. There are water vending machines inside. The staff was in general friendly.
Response from Host, July 2026
Thank you so much for your wonderful review.
Mckenzie_N, July 2026
Amazing experience! We loved being able to go at our own pace and not be tied to a specific guide. We typically enjoy doing things without a guide so this was perfect. The Colosseum was our favorite. The line to get into the Roman forum after was very long. I wish there was a skip the line option if buying a ticket with all three included. However great experience and would book again if we were to go with others!
Response from Host, July 2026
Thank you so much for your wonderful review.
Lisa_T, July 2026
They sent the tickets via WhatsApp so you did not have to do anything. I did not have to go pick them up. We just had to show them once you got in line. It was extremely easy and efficient.
Response from Host, July 2026
Thank you so much for your wonderful review.
Kathleen_P, July 2026
Just a basic ticket into the Colosseum that should have cost a lot less. The audio was just an app anyone can download. Wasn’t worth the cost.
Response from Host, July 2026
Thank you for your feedback—we’re sorry to hear that the experience didn’t meet your expectations. We understand how disappointing it can feel when something doesn’t seem to offer the value you anticipated.
Our goal is always to provide a smooth and enriching visit, and we regret that the audio component and ticket offering fell short for you. We appreciate you pointing this out, as it helps us review how we present and package our experiences more clearly.
If you’d be open to it, we’d love to learn more about your booking so we can better understand what happened and see if there’s anything we can do to make it right.
Thank you again for sharing your thoughts.

Excellent experience overall. Very warm but we can’t predict the weather. Seeing it in real life was amazing
Response from Host, July 2026
Thank you so much for your wonderful review.
karen_w, July 2026
my tickets were never delivered by email. I only received and email to viator site to get tickets and the site said to get my tickets at the event. we searched all around the colosseum for 40 min and never found viator anywhere. I would upload an image of the email but it doesn't have capability
Response from Host, July 2026
Dear Visitor,
We have confirmed that your tickets were successfully delivered to both your email and WhatsApp, along with all necessary instructions.
Thank you.
Luis_V, July 2026
There was supposed to be an audio guide included. I could not find it, and when I wrote asking for support no answer was provided.
They just sell you the tickets and an overpicres proce
Response from Host, July 2026
Dear Visitor,
We have provided all the services as promised. Your tickets and audio guide have been sent to both your email and WhatsApp.
Our Customer Care team is available 24/7 if you need any assistance.
Thank you, and we wish you a wonderful experience.
Sebastiano_C, July 2026
Difficult to follow the directions because the city itself is constantly bombarded by tourists and locals trying to stop you to sell you things. So while you’re trying to figure out what to do and where to go, someone’s in your face asking if you want water or bracelets or whatever it may be, trying to sweet talk you when you say no and try and continue on your way. It’s all just overwhelming. I would say go with the tours directly provided by the coliseum because that seems direct and straight forward.
Response from Host, July 2026
Dear Visitor,
Thank you for choosing our services.
As a tour operator, we strive to deliver all services as promised. Please note that interactions with independent street vendors (such as those selling water or bracelets) are outside of our control and responsibility.
If you have any concerns or feedback specifically related to our tour services, we kindly encourage you to share your experience with us. Your feedback helps us improve and serve you better.
Thank you for your understanding.
Will_A, July 2026
Was a great experience. Came on a Weds in July and was glad we got the tix first thing in the AM. Went on a self guided tour and it was beautiful. A good portion of the tour is outdoors so bring a napkin and fan. It’s very hot in July. The grounds are well maintained and the colosseum is magnificent. So much history. Viator made it easy to book and correspondence in advance was helpful. They sent me an app to download to use for the audio (which we didn’t use) - we just arrived and explored.
elvis_H, July 2026
Bring water and don’t bring white shoes. Palatine hill and the forum can scuff up your shoes. Great spots either way.
Response from Host, July 2026
Great tip, Thank you! The terrain around Palatine Hill and the Forum can definitely be tough on shoes, so that’s super helpful advice. Glad you enjoyed both spots!
Jenny_P, July 2026
This is a scam website. Never book on this site. So much hiddend fees you don't realise it untill you know the real price on the official website. VENER USE THIS
Response from Host, July 2026

We would like to clarify that all details regarding our services, including pricing, are clearly stated in the product description prior to booking. Guests are free to review this information and decide accordingly, and there is no obligation to proceed with a reservation if the terms do not meet their expectations.
As the tour was completed as agreed, we regret that we are unable to process a refund request in this case.

Becca_B, July 2026
The skip-the-line tickets with the audio guide made our visit easy and stress-free. Although the line looked long, it moved very quickly. I recommend going early in the day to make the most of your experience and avoid the larger crowds. Overall, I would definitely recommend this tour.
Response from Host, July 2026
Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re really glad to hear that the skip-the-line tickets and audio guide helped make your visit smooth and enjoyable. It’s great that you were able to take advantage of an early start and avoid the bigger crowds—that’s definitely one of the best ways to experience everything comfortably. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you again for another fantastic visit.
Cindy_L, July 2026
We paid for audio and there were no headphones or anything provided. We had to scan a QR code into our phones, which most of us didn’t have WiFi, and when the tickets were purchased this wasn’t explained. Also, very unorganized on how to use the voucher to enter and the meeting place.
Response from Host, July 2026
Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience did not meet expectations.
We’d like to clarify that the audio guide for this experience is provided via a QR code, allowing guests to use their own devices. This information is included in the booking details, but we understand that it may not always be as clear as it should be, especially regarding the need for mobile data or WiFi access. We will review how this information is communicated to make it more explicit for future guests.
We also apologize for any confusion regarding the voucher redemption process and meeting point. Your comments about the organization are very important to us, and we are actively working to improve signage, instructions, and staff coordination to ensure a smoother experience.
We appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention, as it helps us improve our service. We hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a much better experience in the future.
Emily_D, July 2026
It was easy to get in and listen to the audio prompts at each waypoint. Great alternative to a full tour!
Response from Host, July 2026
Thank you for your kind words! We’re so glad you found it easy to follow along and enjoyed the audio prompts at each waypoint. It’s great to hear that the experience worked well as a flexible alternative to a traditional guided tour. We hope to have you exploring with us again soon.
Andres_O, July 2026
Found them in Reddit. Went to page, got the tickets at a day and time it was sold out the colosseum website and they sent me the actual tickets to my email the day before. Friction free. You pay a bit more than twice the price, but in my opinion is worth it. No risks, no surprises, no stress.
Response from Host, July 2026
Thanks for sharing your experience! Glad to hear everything went smoothly for you. We aim to make the process as stress-free as possible, even if it means paying a bit more for peace of mind. Enjoy your visit.
Michelle_L, July 2026
Overall, we enjoyed visiting the Colosseum and learning about its incredible history. The audio tour provided interesting information, and being able to explore at our own pace was a nice option.
The only downside was the app. It didn't always advance to the next stop automatically, and at times it was difficult to tell where we were supposed to go next. We found ourselves wandering around trying to match the audio to our location, which took away from the experience.
Despite the technical issues, the Colosseum is an amazing place to visit and the information in the audio guide was worthwhile. If the app's navigation were improved, this would be an excellent self-guided tour.
Response from Host, July 2026
Thank you for your thoughtful review! We’re really glad you enjoyed visiting the Colosseum and found the audio content informative and engaging—it’s great to hear the self-paced format worked well for you.
We’re sorry to hear about the issues you experienced with the app navigation. Your feedback is very helpful, and we understand how important clear guidance is to fully enjoy the experience. We’re actively working on improving the app’s performance and making navigation between stops more intuitive.
Thanks again for your comments—they help us make the tour better for future visitors. We hope to welcome you again soon for an even smoother experience.
Magda_D, July 2026
Booked this visit at the last minute as our two previous bookings with a guide got canceled (one was fully canceled; the other, we were told, was to be modified because a new regulation is in place and guides cannot do tours inside the Colosseum, so we could meet outside for a bit of history and then proceed on our own. Seemed shady for sure -and there were plenty of guides inside - and the 10% offered refund was a joke. $400 for a self-guided tour with some intro at the beginning seemed a bit steep).
The app is rated low, but it's better than nothing. This was my second visit to the Colosseum and we would have loved more detailed tour.
Response from Host, July 2026
We did not fully understand your review. If someone canceled your tour, that is unfortunately beyond our control. We provided all services as promised, and from our perspective, everything was delivered as agreed.
For this reason, we are unclear about the concerns raised in your review.
Thank you.
Lise_A, July 2026
It was good value for the money. Viator texted regularly, which was good. We had a hard time understanding the directions and which ones were the actual tickets versus the vouchers so it was very confusing for us. When we got there, we had to ask some people what to do because the directions just did not seem clear at all. We finally did get in, but I think there’s a bit of a translation difference in the directions so figuring out how to get in was the challenging part. And it was 100° out there on July 13 which just made it a tough day to see the Colosseum.
Response from Host, July 2026
Thank you for your feedback—we’re glad to hear you felt the experience was a good value overall. We really appreciate you pointing out the confusion around the directions and ticketing process. That’s definitely not the experience we want for our guests, and we understand how frustrating it must have been, especially in the heat.
We’ll be sharing your comments with our team and with Viator to help improve the clarity of instructions and reduce any translation issues for future visitors. Clear, easy-to-follow guidance is essential, and your input helps us get there.
We’re sorry that the extreme weather on your visit to the Colosseum made things even more challenging, but we’re glad you were ultimately able to get in and enjoy the site.
Thank you again for your honest review.
Eric_B, July 2026
Basic self guided tour, but when we got to the Coloseum had trouble accessing our tickets. Called the tour company and a wonderful gentleman reassured me he’d send them direct via WhatsApp and we were through the checkpoint minutes later. At the end of the tour there’s a balcony that’s right on the arena floor level so glad we didn’t pay extra for a timed visit. MAKE SURE TO DOWNLOAD YOUR AUDIO GUIDE BEFORE YOU GET TO THE COLOSEUM! Not the tour company’s fault…but July in Italy is HOT! So, water, light clothes, and fans are your best friends!
Response from Host, July 2026
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We're really glad everything worked out smoothly in the end and that our team could quickly assist you in accessing your tickets—nothing should get in the way of enjoying a visit to the Colosseum.
It’s great to hear you enjoyed the self-guided tour and the balcony view at arena level—that’s definitely a highlight! And thank you for the helpful tips as well; downloading the audio guide in advance and staying prepared for the July heat can make a big difference.
We truly appreciate your feedback and hope you had an unforgettable time exploring Rome.
DAVID_F, July 2026
There's too many people. It's very unenjoyable. It's very hot. You couldn't get in or out. It is just thousands of people. I would not recommend this
Response from Host, July 2026
Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re truly sorry to hear that your visit felt overwhelming and uncomfortable. High attendance and warm weather can sometimes create challenges, and we regret that this impacted your enjoyment.
We are continuously working to improve crowd management, accessibility, and overall comfort so that every guest can have a pleasant and memorable experience. Your feedback is extremely valuable to us and helps guide these improvements.
We hope you might consider visiting again in the future, perhaps during a less busy time, so you can experience the venue at its best.
Ashvin_J, July 2026
A must visit when in Rome - the pictures you see don’t do it justice! Make sure you get there on time and if you go in summer, go in the morning to beat the heat (or try to anyway).
Response from Host, July 2026
Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re thrilled you had such a great experience—it's true, photos can’t quite capture the magic of it in person. 😊
Great tip about arriving early, especially during the summer months. The morning really is the best time to enjoy everything a bit more comfortably. We hope to welcome you back again soon.
Richard_P, July 2026
The Colosseum is manically busy at all times of the day. Yes it’s a fantastic site but trying to see it in a comfortable relaxed way is impossible due to the numbers of people, despite their alleged number restrictions and strict time slots. Also the Viator tickets are the standard 18 euro tickets you should be able to buy direct from the colosseum website, however you can’t because the likes of Viator have bought them up and then sell them on for a 100% plus profit. The tickets did come through in time for the visit and all worked fine. But you do feel ripped off and then subjected to a cattle market crush inside the Colosseum. We didn’t stay overly long as it’s quite oppressive inside especially when hot. My advice is don’t bother and view it from the outside if you aren’t overly bothered about “going in”. Overall it wasn’t the great experience we hoped for, and the tickets are a rip off if bought via the online sellers other than the Colosseum.
Response from Host, July 2026
Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your visit did not meet your expectations and that the experience felt overcrowded and less enjoyable than you had hoped.
The Colosseum is one of the world’s most iconic landmarks and, as such, it does attract very large numbers of visitors throughout the year. While entry limits and timed slots are in place, we understand that the atmosphere inside can still feel busy, especially during peak periods and warmer days.
We also appreciate your comments regarding ticket pricing and third-party sellers. We understand how frustrating it can be to feel that you have paid significantly more than the official ticket price. We always recommend purchasing tickets through official channels whenever possible.
We’re pleased to hear that your tickets arrived on time and that everything worked correctly for your visit. We hope that, despite the challenges, you were still able to appreciate the incredible history and significance of this remarkable monument.
Thank you again for your honest feedback. We will continue working to help visitors have the best possible experience when exploring Rome’s historic sites.
Kristina_B, July 2026
Smooth experience. We received our tickets two days in advance and were able to easily access the sites. We had great time and the audio guide was a good listen.
Response from Host, July 2026
Thank you for your kind review! We’re delighted to hear that everything went smoothly and that receiving your tickets in advance made your visit stress-free. It’s great to know you enjoyed the experience and found the audio guide engaging as well. We truly appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you again for another memorable visit.
