A day trip into the past which shaped our present. You will be visiting 2 countries, Croatia and Bosnia & Herzegovina. Starting from Zagreb, the first stop on our trip is the infamous Jasenovac Concentration Camp Memorial Site, the site of imprisonment and execution of thousands. In 1941, the Independent State of Croatia, a Nazi-backed Ustaše regime, imposed racial laws, persecuting Serbs, Jews, Roma, and others. Thousands perished in camps, the worst being Jasenovac. Prisoners faced forced labor, starvation, disease, and executions. The memorial site preserves camp remains, monuments, and survivor testimonies. In Bosnia, learn about the Partisan resistance led by Tito, fighting Nazis, Ustaše, and Chetniks. The fall of fascism led to communist Yugoslavia, bringing new challenges to the region. During the day, there will be a lunch stop in Bosnia and Herzegovina, presenting the traditional Bosnian cuisine which leaves no one hungry. Lunch is not included in the price.
