Coffee was discovered in Ethiopia by a goat who always admired the sweet sap of the coffee juice inside the coffee skin. After its discovery, people started eating the fruits mainly during famine and leisure not until the coming of missionaries and the Indian merchants who introduced the commercialization of coffee. The missionaries used to normally send coffee to their relatives as gifts.
