What are people saying about San Ignacio

An incredible experience!
My friend and I were picked up from our hotel in San Ignacio and driven 15 minutes to the Guatemalan boarder where we were assisted with exchanging to Guatemalan currency (I think we exchanged $20 USD and exchanged back our change later in the day), paying the boarder crossing fee and passport control. On the other side, we were met with another driver who drove us 1.5 hours to Tikal. About halfway through we stopped at a roadside store where you could purchase souvenirs, grab a coffee or a cold drink and use the restrooms.
Once we arrived at Tikal, we picked up our tour guide, who goes by Pinky. Pinky was an absolutely stellar tour guide. He shared so much history regarding the Mayan culture and background of all the sites we visited. He was able to answer the list of questions we had along the way and pointed out tons of wildlife in the jungle! You could feel how proud he was to share his culture with us, and it was very special. It was also incredible to be somewhere with so much rich history.
Do expect to do a ton of walking (we walked 13k steps in the park), so wear comfortable shoes and bring water with you.
The lunch you have is provided at restaurant near the parks entrance. The food and drinks were delicious!

Excellent and informative tour with a great lunch
Great tour - really knowledgeable and patient guide, lots of great information about ancient Mayan culture. Delicious lunch! Would recommend for any age of travelers! Moderately taxing in terms of walking/climbing, though the guide is happy to work with whatever level of exertion you would prefer.

The activities were...
The activities were amazing and the guide was friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable. One thing I didn’t realize was that there was a long drive between the archaeological site and the cave tubing and then back to San Ignacio, so a fairly large portion of the day was spent in the car. However, I enjoyed the drive and seeing the towns and countryside. Overall, I think the trip was worth the money, and I recommend it!

We were lucky and got a private tour with Danny. They will pick you up from your Airbnb if you need them to and drive you to the Guatemala border. Crossing the border on foot was so fun! We saw a howler/spider monkey turf war within 10 minutes of entering the park. Tikal is HUGE and so interesting to tour. Would definitely go again.

We were lucky and were the only ones on our tour! Jose was our tour guide and he was absolutely incredible. He took our interests into consideration to customize the tour for us. He was extremely knowledgeable of all things Belize and it was so fun to spend the day learning so much with him! 12/10 recommend and I would gladly do another tour with Jose any day !

Mayawalks & Francis were top notch! Highly recommend!
Can't say enough positive things about this tour experience! Francis was so knowledgeable about the archaeology and nature of the jungle. He made sure everyone was taken care of throughout the cave experience. The ATM tour was so memorable and so much fun while also being informative.

Unbelievable Views 🇧🇿⛰️
Shout out Pedro for being so kind and informative! This was an incredible experience learning about Xunantunich and Mayan culture! The ruins were breathtaking, and from the top, we could see everything. We discovered so much about different plants and their uses. We even got to see spider monkeys!

Amazing Experience
This was an intense and amazing experience. Our guide, "Uncle Patrick" was absolutely amazing. He was incredibly knowledgeable and patient with our 9 year old. He knew the history and the wildlife inside and out. This was definitely a core memory day for the whole family.

This was such a fun...
This was such a fun adventure. Our guide Giovanni was awesome! Took us to three different waterfalls where we were able to swim relax and take many pictures. Then he prepared a traditional Belizean lunch right on the pontoon for us. Grilled chicken, sausage, veggies, potatoes, beans and homemade tortillas. There were refreshments too. It was a full day tour surrounded by nature and wildlife and we enjoyed it very much.

Best tour guides ever!
My grandson and I had the best tour with Marvin and Leo! The history of the Mayans was so interesting. I learned so much. After a delicious lunch we started our trek up the hill for the cave tubing. I'm 75 years old and definitely not in the best of shape, but Leo stayed with me and encouraged me all the way up the hill. Once we got in the water it was everything I had imagined. The water felt great and the terrain was beautiful. Leo pointed out the different birds we saw. We then entered the cave and it was awesome! This was definitely the highlight of my trip to Belize.

Cave tubing at Nohoch...
Cave tubing at Nohoch Ch'een was an incredible experience, and our guide, Edgar, made it even better than expected. Since we had a small group and a private tour, he was able to pick us up from our Airbnb, which was convenient, and as he drove us through San Ignacio, we got to learn more about the area. During our cave tubing experience, learning about the history of the cave, along with Mayan beliefs and rituals associated with it, was truly fascinating. Edgar showed us how parts of the cave were interpreted and sometimes modified to depict things like animals or people. We also got to see ancient Mayan pottery and swim through tight, cavernous side tunnels of the cave. Toward the end, Edgar guided us down the river while we got to relax and take in the scenery and overall experience. The lunch served afterward was exceptional as well. Overall, Edgar was kind, knowledgeable, and funny, and made this such a fun day for my friends and me. I would highly recommend him and this tour, and hope I get to do it again someday! Thanks Edgar! -Jenna, Jordan, and Rosita :)

Seamless transition from...
Seamless transition from pick up to drop off in Guatemala to head to Tikal. Tikal itself was amazing. Probably the best Mayan ruins I’ve ever seen. It’s incredible how you can climb a bunch of the structures to this day. I loved seeing temples above the trees from the tops of other temples or pyramids.
