What are people saying about San Ignacio

An incredible experience!
My friend and I were picked up from our hotel in San Ignacio and driven 15 minutes to the Guatemalan boarder where we were assisted with exchanging to Guatemalan currency (I think we exchanged $20 USD and exchanged back our change later in the day), paying the boarder crossing fee and passport control. On the other side, we were met with another driver who drove us 1.5 hours to Tikal. About halfway through we stopped at a roadside store where you could purchase souvenirs, grab a coffee or a cold drink and use the restrooms. Once we arrived at Tikal, we picked up our tour guide, who goes by Pinky. Pinky was an absolutely stellar tour guide. He shared so much history regarding the Mayan culture and background of all the sites we visited. He was able to answer the list of questions we had along the way and pointed out tons of wildlife in the jungle! You could feel how proud he was to share his culture with us, and it was very special. It was also incredible to be somewhere with so much rich history. Do expect to do a ton of walking (we walked 13k steps in the park), so wear comfortable shoes and bring water with you. The lunch you have is provided at restaurant near the parks entrance. The food and drinks were delicious!

Excellent and informative tour with a great lunch
Great tour - really knowledgeable and patient guide, lots of great information about ancient Mayan culture. Delicious lunch! Would recommend for any age of travelers! Moderately taxing in terms of walking/climbing, though the guide is happy to work with whatever level of exertion you would prefer.

The activities were amazing and the guide was friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable. One thing I didn’t realize was that there was a long drive between the archaeological site and the cave tubing and then back to San Ignacio, so a fairly large portion of the day was spent in the car. However, I enjoyed the drive and seeing the towns and countryside. Overall, I think the trip was worth the money, and I recommend it!

We were lucky and got a private tour with Danny. They will pick you up from your Airbnb if you need them to and drive you to the Guatemala border. Crossing the border on foot was so fun! We saw a howler/spider monkey turf war within 10 minutes of entering the park. Tikal is HUGE and so interesting to tour. Would definitely go again.
