What are people saying about Puerto Plata

This is THE tour for Puerta Plata
This was THE best excursion we have ever done, and it was our first with Viator. Jahaziel was an incredible tour guide and allowed us to see more than just the "tourist" part of Puerta Plata. We had coffee made by a local grandmother, visited a country store, visited a cigar factory, Umbrella Street, and the chocolate factory. I highly recommend this tour to others. He is a great guy!

Frank and his son were awesome tour guides. Some how we booked the wrong day and they still made it work for us. They let us decide where we wanted to go. Went to pink street, umbrella street which you better get some empanadas there omg so good. Went to the cathedral, Amber mining place and cigar factory. I hope Frank and his son will be out drivers next time we are here.

Elvin was fantastic, very trustworthy and reliable. We had a nice time! We enjoyed lunch the most, because it was the least tourist oriented - we went to an authentic local restaurant where other locals were having lunch. Was a great way to see some of the sights of Puerto Plata

Jesus was wonderful. Great tour
We had a wonderful city tour today in the Dominican Republic with Jesus. He was incredibly kind, generous, and professional, and he drove exceptionally well. He even went out of his way to stop at the pharmacy for us, which we truly appreciated.
I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Dominican Republic. Jesus made our experience enjoyable and stress-free. We wish him a wonderful life and all the best!

Puerta Plata Perfection!
Francisco was our tour guide. He is incredibly well loved in Puerto Plata, and as a result, you have an incredible tour. He took us everywhere. He kept us hydrated and happy. He was so flexible when we decided we wanted to change the itinerary a bit.. He even encouraged my son to go to the fort which give us a beautiful view of the ship and a nice family moment. 5 stars!!!! Highly recommend.

Incredibly organized and so much fun!
I would recommend this experience to anyone and everyone (with average or better fitness levels).
Communication was clear and reassuring. I had questions after booking and used the messaging system through viator. The company replied within minutes. The night before, we were also texted instructions for the next day. We got off the cruise ship and walked exactly where he told us to meet him (about a 10 min. brisk walk - not a lot of shade). We met our guide and driver and were off in a private, clean van. We were given tons of information about the area on the way to the falls and what to expect once we arrived. It was all very reassuring as I was a little stressed about the unknown. We were able to leave everything in the van which was kept locked and watched by the driver. We were added to another group - given helmets, life jackets, and a bottle of water and we were off. The hike had a lot of stairs and uneven ground. We wore harder soled water shoes and still could feel all the pebbles and rocks, but once we got to the water they were nice because they had drainage holes. They do stop and provide a couple breaks along the way. I'd like to think I'm in pretty good shape, but my cardio is lacking and that was very evident on this hike. But I'd still 100% recommend it. Once you get to the water, it is so refreshing and unlike anything I've ever had the opportunity to do. We only got to slide/jump into 7 falls. Most of them you have to slide into, but for the last 2 you have the option to jump (it's super high) or slide, or go down a ladder. I wear glasses (I'm pretty lind without them), so i wore them for the hike, but once I started sliding and jumping, iur guide said I had to give him my glasses for safety. He stored them in a water safe bag along with peoples' phones/watches, etc. We didn't get the picture package, but another group did and they stopped for a lot of pictures and videos at each stage. Afterwards lunch was included and it's right at the gate of the falls - a little buffet. Food was got and good and there was a good variety. Afterwards we went to a little place to learn about all the things they grow, how they make coffee and chocolate from plant to product. We saw a cigar making demonstration and tasted the manajuana drink. From there we were taken right back to where we were picked up and made the 10 min walk back to the ship (with way more shade). This tour was highly organized, informative, so much fun, and a great mini introduction to Puerto Plata. I will 100% book with this company again.

Great Private Tour
This is a private tour just for your party with a driver/tour guide. Joseph was our driver and he is the best. We traveled with my mom in a wheelchair and he took us to all the places where it was easily accessible for her to participate. Joseph took his time at her pace so she could enjoy Puerto Plata. We were able to see all the sights and go to a Dorado beach and enjoy the view. Recommend this tour for anyone traveling with someone with mobility issues as they cater to your needs. Thank you Joseph for a wonderful day. May God Bless you and your family.

An unexpected good time!
Great experience! We had lots of fun, would absolutely do it again. Wear clothes you don’t mind throwing away or washing immediately afterwards. I appreciate the trip through town, makes me want to go back to spend more time. Take full advantage of your beach stop it’s the last hope to hose off.

This boat day was SO much...
This boat day was SO much fun. There are a lot of people on the boat, so expect a very social, lively environment. You’ll likely be sharing tables and space with others, and there aren’t really quiet or private areas. That said, if you’re open to it, it really adds to the experience.
The crew completely made the trip. They were hilarious, engaging, and did an amazing job getting everyone involved—dancing, laughing, and just having a great time. Huge shoutout to Benjamin and Mawii (the photographer), who were especially fun and added a lot to the vibe.
The day starts with two snorkeling stops. You can fully snorkel with equipment, just swim, or even stay on the boat if that’s more your speed. My friends and I chose to just get in the water and swim, which was perfect. Life jackets are provided and required in the water, but not while you’re on the boat.
After snorkeling, the open bar kicks in and you cruise while eating and drinking. The food was buffet-style, with plenty of options and generous portions—you can go back for as much as you want.
A couple practical tips:
• There are bathrooms on board
• Definitely bring sunscreen and a towel
• Take motion sickness medication beforehand—this is a big one
Even if you’re comfortable on boats, the waves can be intense. I grew up on the water on a boat every weekend in Florida and still took Bonine beforehand, and I’m really glad I did. I felt completely fine, but probably a third of the boat got seasick. The crew does their best to help (cold washcloths, crackers, water, buckets, etc.), but it’s much better to prevent it. Bonine is great because it doesn’t have noticeable side effects, so it’s 100% worth taking as a just in case.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this experience. It’s high-energy, social, and just a really fun way to spend a day on the water.

An adventure of a lifetime
When we signed up to see the monkeys we were both more enthused about the zip lining but after all was said and done, we both thought the monkey experience was very special. We’d seen monkeys in the wild in other countries and mostly found them to be smelly and unfriendly. However, these monkeys were small and adorable and so gentle. We were given ample time to spend getting photos taken with them and it was extremely memorable. As for the zip lining the experience was also good and it felt safe. The local meal was absolutely delicious. When we come back we would definitely come see the monkeys again!

Great way to spend a day on Puerto Plata DR
What a great day. The communication from Austin was great. Then add in Carlos (our driver) was clear, easy. Our tour was very knowledgeable. We were able to roll our own cigar. Learned a lot! Hanging out afterwards with a cigar and a cocktail just made it all a great day. We took our driver Carlos out for coffee afterwards. Just do it! Get to know the locals as well. THANKS for a very memorable day!!!!

Great Tour, Great guide
Pretty impressive tour. Was only my wife and I with Melanie our driver/tour guide. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and several times asked what else we would like to see. It seemed like she knew everyone in town as we walked around town center. Great tour and great guide! It was only the 3 of us so a very personal tour
