On this self-guided tour, produced by Tedd Long, writer and curator of Holy Toledo History, you'll uncover Toledo's industrial hub's transformation into a creative and communal space. On this walking tour, you‘ll journey through time, from the days when these warehouses bustled with workers moving goods to and from the Maumee River to today‘s renaissance, where every corner echoes with creativity and community spirit. You‘ll gain a greater appreciation for Toledo‘s historic Warehouse District, its rich cultural heritage, and lesser-known stories. With its well-preserved architectural wonders, colorful murals, and a culture that seamlessly marries the old with the new, the Warehouse District isn‘t just a place on the map; it‘s a chapter of Toledo‘s story waiting to be explored. So, lace up your walking shoes, and let‘s dive deep into the annals of a district that encapsulates the soul of Toledo!

Welcome to the Unholy Toledo Tour! Take a self-guided drive through the bloody history of 1930s gangland. Experience the magic of GPS playback while you hear from Tedd Long, writer and curator of Holy Toledo History. In 1931, during the era of G-Men, speakeasies, and Pretty Boy Floyd, a gang of Detroit wiseguys led by Thomas “Yonnie” Licavoli arrived in Toledo and brought with them a wave of violence unseen in Toledo's past: 14 murders in 36 months. Are you ready for the inside story? The most sensational crime of the era happened in July 1933 when a young club owner and bootlegger named Jack Kennedy was gunned down in Point Place. This tour tells Jack's story, from start to finish, over the course of a two-hour-long driving tour covering the downtown area and northern Toledo.

Our fun begins at the Cincinnati Lager House, where we'll have a flight of beers and take a short tour of the brewpub, before enjoying a freshly prepared brunch. Afterward, we catch a streetcar to Cincinnati's Over-the-Rhine neighborhood, looking for relics of the city's brewing past, both large and small, often hidden in plain sight. We'll share stories of not only the breweries that helped to build the Queen City, but also the saloons where thirsty citizens gathered every day. Along the way, we'll visit the historic underground lagering cellars of the the Park Brewery, open for the first time to visitors in many years and only available through this tour! After our underground exploration, the tour stops in for a pint at the Lackman Bar, located at a pre-Prohibition saloon site, with many local favorites on tap.
