This tour is the perfect extension to our Classic City Tour and includes the southern parts of "Old Town" which are not visited on classic tours, and the castle. It's a delightful mix of history, legend and medieval tradition. As usual, we meet in Preseren Square, from which we walk directly to the inner courtyard of Town Hall to hear fascinating stories of days gone by and the clowns that ran the show. We then continue down Old Town road, passing various points of interest on the way, before arriving at the Hercules Fountain in Old Town Square. From there we walk up Ljubljana's oldest road (16th century) and climb up to the Castle by foot (easy 12 minutes walk, no option for funicular from this side of the hill), with other points of interest and viewpoints on the way. This tour was fantastic! Our guide, Tia, was very knowledgeable and was pretty funny. All of the sites were quite interesting and different. This is stated in the description, but you do have to buy your own tickets when you get there. I definitely recommend doing all of it!

Great food tour!

Simona was a wonderful guide - super knowledgeable and friendly. I learned a lot about Slovenian food and history. We had 4 local dishes, 4 Slovenian wines, 2 small tastings and 1 dessert; we were super full by the end. This is a great activity to do, especially on your first day in Ljubljana as we walked away with more knowledge of the city and some good recommendations for the rest of our trip.

Entertaining tour

This was an unusual walking tour as it did not go to the typical tourist places. We saw things in Ljubljana we would not have found on our own. We tasted food and drink to include a wonderful dessert. The guide, Kleman, was very entertaining and patient, even when we got lost! There is a lot of fast walking but it was well worth it.

Great Sights in Slovenia

Fantastic tour with guide Borut. I felt very safe while driving through some more narrow and windy areas. Borut is very knowledge about WWI and I appreciated his commentary. Absolutely beautiful. The walk to waterfall was approx 550 steps up (and then down). The two lakes were stunning. The drive to and from Ljubljana was quite beautiful and easy. We spent three hours at Lake Bled. I was glad to have my book with me to sit calmly by Lake Bled and read.

Highly recommended

It is amazing. The best caves I have ever visited. A comfortable ride to and from the caves and our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. You need to be capable of walking about 1.5 miles, some pathways are uphill and in some places steep. You can also stay on the train which is about 1 mile and ride back. Still a cool part of the caves.

Jasmina is full of historical knowledge

I came hungry as the other reviews suggested, we got the first bites an hour in, and it was a nice little city tour beforehand. The food was really good, and she made sure all dietary restrictions were met. Jasmina was full of historical stories. The tour was mostly solo travelers so we all made friends and stayed out together until midnight after the tour. Really fun!

Waterfall requires...

Waterfall requires climbing many steps. It’s like it’s raining when you get to top so wear something waterproof. Scenes are spectacular. It’s a full day with many breath taking and worthwhile stops. Slovenia has such beautiful natural scenery and it is all very close to the city. Benjamin, our guide was so kind and helpful and knowledgeable. We are in our late 60s/70 and it was very doable. Would suggest they drop off the last two stops as by that time the day is quite long. Otherwise it was very good value and loved it. Highly recommend it!
