Explore the hidden military landscape of the Bay of Kotor on a journey through the Austro-Hungarian fortification system built in the 19th century to protect one of the Adriatic’s most strategic naval bases. The tour begins at Fort Vrmac, located on the ridge between Kotor and Tivat, with sweeping views over the bay. Continue to Fort Gorazda, one of the best preserved mountain fortresses, where corridors, gun positions and observation points reveal how the empire defended Boka Bay. The route then follows the outer defensive line toward the Luštica Peninsula, visiting Fort Luštica and Fort Kabala, coastal fortifications guarding the maritime entrance of the bay. We continue the tour with an organized boat ride to the charming little island Our Lady of the Rocks, located opposite the Old Town of Perast, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
