We created the camp to provide a quality experience with excellent service, as we want our guests to experience the adventure of Acatenango without having a bad time. Our food portions are generously sized and made with sustaining ingredients, as we know firsthand how demanding this adventure is. The camp is new and very well-designed. It's also very well-located, with a surprising view of the the protagonist of this adventure, the Fuego Volcano. Our camp is called IXCANUL, which in the Mayan language refers to the internal force of the mountain, which can erupt at any moment. Our goal is for you to fall in love with our country and make you want to come back again to create unforgettable experiences.

Our company is located in front of the Fuego Volcano and if it is clear enough you will be able to see Pacaya and Agua volcanoes as well. Each cabin has a pillow, – 6°C sleeping bag, extra blanket, a 5″ or 12cm comfortable mattress, under the matt all over the tent we have a waterproof carpet to isolate the cold from the bottom. In our tourism project we work together with a cooperative of local guides CAT (Comité de Autogestión Turística) conformed by the people of the community San Jose Calderas, Chimaltenango. Our cabins are shared by 2 or 4 people (the number of people per cabin depends on availability when the reservation is confirmed).

The tour begins with hotel pickup in Panajachel at 3:00 a.m. You will travel with other passengers by shared minivan to Santa Clara La Laguna. Upon arrival, there will be a brief 5-minute stop before starting the hike. Accompanied by a local Spanish-speaking guide, you will hike for approximately 45 minutes to reach the summit of Indian Nose Mountain. From the top, enjoy a spectacular sunrise with panoramic views of Lake Atitlán, surrounded by the San Pedro, Atitlán, and Tolimán volcanoes. You will spend approximately two hours at the summit to relax and take in the breathtaking scenery. To keep you warm in the early morning cold, a hot chocolate drink will be provided. After hiking back down to the base, you will return to Panajachel by shared minivan.
