This is a special program that combines hiking in the beautiful mountains of Busan with a unique experience of Korean rice wine, called Makgeolli at an old-style street food stall called Pocha. It's perfect for those who want to explore Busan in a more social and less touristy way. During the activity, we'll follow the weekend routine of Korean 'Ajussi,' which refers to senior guys in Korea. We'll hike up the highest mountain in Busan, enjoying breathtaking views along the way. Then, we'll visit hidden villages that only locals know about, where we'll get to try authentic Makgeolli made in those villages. It's a great opportunity to engage in casual conversations, share our cultures, and learn about different drinking traditions. By the end of the activity, you might even make a new friend from Busan! Join us for an immersive experience that lets you truly connect with the local culture and enjoy the natural beauty of Busan.

This is a unique opportunity to learn about and make your own makgeolli! This is the only English-speaking makgeolli making class in Busan. The class is perfect for anyone interested in Korean food and alcohol, history and culture, and fermentation. No previous brewing experience is required – we provide you with everything you need to make your own makgeolli! The host is a professional brewer who worked in food and beverage in the US and studied traditional alcohol under Korean master brewers. At our makgeolli studio close to Gwangalli Beach, we will introduce different types of Korean alcohol as well as what makes them different from other rice-based alcohols. We also provide a tasting of various types so you can try them for yourself! We will then make makgeolli, from the processing of rice to incorporating enzymes unique to Korean alcohol.
