A guide is essential to understand the experience and to navigate the crowds. I highly recommend reading a bit about this before going.

We are older than 70, so we were entitled to get free ticket to visit the terracotta warriors. Viator instead has charged US the ticket
Response from Host, Nov 2025
Dear Nadia_S,
Thank you for your feedback, and please accept our sincerest apologies for the frustration caused regarding the Terracotta Warriors tickets.
We understand your expectation of complimentary entry. However, according to the official museum policy: "Free admission is offered to seniors aged 65 and above, and minors under 16 years old (must be Chinese citizens holding Chinese ID cards)."
As this policy requires, all foreign visitors, regardless of age, must purchase the appropriate standard ticket.
We have also confirmed from the museum's official system that the tickets we booked for you were successfully scanned for entry.
Despite this misunderstanding, we truly hope you still found your visit to the magnificent Terracotta Warriors worthwhile.
Best regards,
Robert_Z, Sep 2025

Avoid a weekend and when Chinese children are off school. Try to visit in cooler weather. We tried going on Sunday and there was a long line waiting to get into another line for the big pit. Have been there 9 times before and never like this. But previous trip was 2015
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Dear Jeff_P,
Thank you for your feedback. We're glad your ticket booking process was smooth.
At the same time, we truly understand your frustration regarding the long queues and weekend crowds. As a booking agent, we have no control over these on-site conditions, but we sincerely appreciate you highlighting this issue. Your advice about avoiding weekends and school holidays is invaluable, and we will certainly share it to help future visitors manage their expectations.
We hope the majesty of the historical site still shone through, and we look forward to the chance to assist you better in the future.

Nice, fast, easy booking. As for the museum itself, There is no need to say that it's worth it. If you are searching Viator to decide if you are going to visit the mausoleum, you are in the wrong track.

Amazing. On entering turn right and go into the museum before entering the two main tombs as it explains everything and shows some of the Soldiers.
Lots of food and drinks places after the visit on the way out.

Dear Guy_R,

Great tip on entering the museum and turning right first—exploring the exhibition halls before the main tombs definitely helps visitors understand the historical context and get a closer look at the terracotta soldiers. Hope to welcome you back soon for another memorable experience! Best regards,

Eric_S, May 2025
Seeing something you only read about 😍. Seems to be an ongoing excavation but that’s half the fun. Xian is incredible too.
Response from Host, May 2025
Dear Eric,
We're glad that you're enjoying the experience of seeing the Terracotta Army in person! It's always so rewarding to hear that our efforts in booking those tickets paid off. The ongoing excavation really does add an extra layer of fascination, doesn't it? And Xi'an is indeed a city full of wonders. We hope the rest of your trip there is just as amazing. If there's anything else we can assist with, don't hesitate to let us know! Best regards,
Dimitrina_G, May 2025
This is the only way to get tickets for a foreigner to see the Terracotta soldiers if you do not have a Chinese phone number as you cannot book through the website or WeChat without one.
I give it 4 stars as the experience itself is a lifetime dream for me and that the tickets were booked on time and I did have them.
But do keep it mind that the price is more than 4 times of what you would pay if you could book from the site itself.
You get nothing with this booking but a ticket. No transfer, no audio guide, not even clear information of how to use the tickets. So I really do not understand how can they justify the up cost of 4 times the price. Other services that I used only priced the price to double for a booking fee unfortunately they just didn’t offer this experience otherwise I would have used them.
One more note on the provided as I had a bad experience with them for another ticket purchase. They might not prioritise purchasing your ticket and you could be in a situation where you have no ticket for the time you are there so keep this in mind. I would recommend you pay immediately when booking not the book now pay later option as they only start booking for you once you have paid.

The experience of seeing the Warriors was incredible. Viator keeps you well informed bro fore your arrival on the status of your tickets. Hired a guide at the entrance which was nice, but sometimes difficult to understand. True bucket list check off.

It was swarmed with local tourists. So very difficult to enjoy the exhibits.
My daughter and I were being shoved and squeezed to get to see the exhibits. Local tourists were boorish including the rude local tour guides which had no courtesy of queueing.
The saving grace was the exhibits which were very good.
The right time to go was lunch time, 12.30 pm - 1.30 p.m. where the local tourist crowd had thinned out a bit.
We went back again to take the pictures which we couldn't earlier.
Maybe, another 20 years for locals to gentrify??!!
If not for the boorish local tourists, I would have rated these exhibits much higher!
Response from Host, Nov 2024
Dear valued customer,
We deeply regret to hear that your experience at the Terracotta Warriors Museum was marred by the crowds. We sincerely hope that this did not detract from your overall journey in Xi'an. And we appreciate your kind suggestion about the time slots which we believe can help other visitors. We hope we still can get another chance to serve you in the future.

The tour operator was really helpful,he sent my tickets through the alipay account because my gmail wasn't working in China. The monument itself was very unique to see, although it was pretty crowded because it was weekend. But as everywhere in the third-world countries expect treacherous employees who will try to hire an extra guide for you without your consent, will deny you entry or even won't let you take the shuttle bus although it is included in the price. So just plan from before and don't listen to anyone-you should only scan your passport or your QR Code and everything will work perfectly.
Response from Host, Oct 2024
Dear valued customer,
Thank you for your suggestion on accessing the site. We hope you enjoyed your visit, despite the crowds. We look forward to serving you again in the future.

ROXANA_M, Jul 2024
We had a fantastic day in Xi'an with Wendy visiting the Terracotta Warriors, Big Wild Goose pagoda, and Muslim quarter. We had lunch at a place with typical Xi'an kitchen. Wendy was extremely friendly, well informed, and the tour was well organized, tailored to our (tight) time budget. Although the crowds at the Terracotta Warrior site cannot be avoided entirely, she efficiently moved us around. Adding to this her perfect command of English, her fluent communication before the trip as well as the helpful attitude of the driver completes our nemory of an unforgettable whirlwind visit of Xi'an. Her services are highly recommended.
