Amazing experience. The bioluminescence was beautiful and magical. The staff were helpful and the whole event was perfectly timed. Taxis were waiting at location upon completion for easy access back to ferry.

      Bucket List Experience

      Brittany_T, Mar 2026
We had a great experience! We took our 4 kid, ages 9-15. The trip was smooth and well organized. Our guide took time to explain the science behind the microorganisms and even brought a light blocking cover for our kayaks to really experience the full effect! If possible, try and go on a night with lots of cloud coverage/minimal moonlight. When the clouds covered the moon, the glow was much brighter. Great bucket list item checked off!

      Response from Host, Mar 2026

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! ✨💙 We’re so happy to hear that your family had such a great experience with us and that everything felt smooth and well organized. It means a lot to know that even with four kids, the tour was enjoyable and memorable for everyone. We’re also glad you appreciated the science behind the bioluminescence and the extra effort from your guide to help you experience the glow at its fullest. As you mentioned, cloud coverage and minimal moonlight can make a huge difference, and we always try our best to help guests enjoy the brightest conditions possible. 🌌 We’re honored to have been part of a bucket list experience for your family. Thank you for choosing Mosquito Biobay Tours, and we hope to welcome you back again someday for another magical night on the water! 🛶✨

      Biobay amazingness

      Clinton_J, Mar 2026
Amazing experience, be sure when you book, that you’ve paid attention to the lunar cycles and the weather as much as as possible. Go whenever there is no moon or a new moon.

      Response from Host, Mar 2026

Thank you so much for your amazing review! ✨💙 We’re thrilled to hear you had such an incredible experience at the bay. And you’re absolutely right—planning around the lunar cycle and weather makes a big difference. New moon or no moon nights truly allow the bioluminescence to shine at its brightest. 🌌 Thank you for sharing that great advice with future guests and for choosing Mosquito Biobay Tours. We hope to welcome you back again for another magical night on the water! 🛶✨

      Lovely experience seeing the Bay

      Melissa_O, Mar 2026
Very well organized.. wish we had more time to just paddle vs being all connected most of the time but also get that the winds were high and not everyone is an experienced kayaker. Bay was very neat! Stars spectacular! Timon (I think that was his name?) was an amazing guide! Great conversation and wonderful sense of humor.

      Response from Host, Mar 2026

Thank you so much for your lovely review, Melissa! 💙✨ We’re very happy to hear that you enjoyed the experience and found everything well organized. That’s something we truly take pride in. We also appreciate your feedback about wanting more time paddling independently. As you mentioned, on nights with stronger winds or varying experience levels in the group, we sometimes keep kayaks connected to ensure everyone’s safety and overall experience. We always try to balance safety with enjoyment as much as possible. We’re glad you still had a great time on the bay and enjoyed the spectacular stars—those moments really make the experience unforgettable. 🌌 Timon will be so happy to hear your kind words about his guidance, humor, and conversation. We’ll be sure to share this with him! Thank you again for choosing Mosquito Biobay Tours. We hope to welcome you back again for another magical night on the water! 🛶✨

Well organized, but didn’t learn much

      Brett_J, Mar 2026
Tour was well organized but guides were difficult to understand. Would have liked to learn more about the bioluminescence bay and its history. Overpriced for the quality of the tour

      Response from Host, Mar 2026

Thank you for your feedback. 💙 We’re glad to hear that you found the tour well organized, as that is something we work very hard to maintain. We’re sorry to hear that the explanations were difficult to understand and that you felt you didn’t get as much information as expected. Our guides are trained to share both the science and history of the bioluminescent bay, but we understand that clarity and communication are key, and we will take your comments into consideration to continue improving this aspect of the experience. Regarding pricing, we strive to provide a high-quality, safe, and professionally operated tour, including trained guides, transportation logistics, equipment, permits, and conservation practices that help protect this unique ecosystem. We truly appreciate your honest feedback, as it helps us grow and improve. Thank you for joining us and giving us the opportunity to host your experience. 🛶✨

      Attempted to get a refund...

      Brad_K, Mar 2026
Attempted to get a refund and couldn’t get in contact with anyone until the day of scheduled activity. Viator claimed that the tour refused to refund, the tour said Viator was lying and never spoke to them and Viator could issue a refund. Both parties blamed other party. Tour offered me a free excursion for the family if we ever returned to PR due to Viators actions however we live about 7-8 flight hours away so no chance that’ll get occur. Viator said they called the tour to get refund and your owner said they never did, Viator and the tour also didn’t disclose an important detail that a person would be stuck on an island an hour away with later tour. It was all a mess start to finish. We won’t use Viator ever again.

      Response from Host, Mar 2026

We’re truly sorry to hear about your experience and understand how frustrating this situation must have been. At Mosquito Bio Bay Tours, we take communication and customer satisfaction very seriously. After reviewing your case, we were never contacted by Viator regarding a refund request prior to the day of the tour, which unfortunately limited our ability to assist within the proper timeframe of our cancellation policy. We always do our best to be flexible when possible, and as mentioned, we offered a complimentary future tour as a gesture of goodwill. We understand that traveling back to Puerto Rico may not be feasible, and we genuinely regret that this solution may not work for you. Regarding transportation and ferry logistics, we do provide important travel guidance to help guests plan accordingly, including tour timing recommendations for same-day return. However, we understand that this part of your experience was not as clear as it should have been, and we will continue improving how we communicate these details. We truly appreciate your feedback, as it helps us improve both our communication and coordination with third-party platforms like Viator. If you would like, please feel free to contact us directly at 939-426-8561 or biobay@mosquitobiobaytours.com — we are always here to help. Wishing you all the best, and again, we’re sorry for the inconvenience you experienced. — Mosquito Bio Bay Tours

      Bioluminescence trip

      MONIL_P, Feb 2026
Bioluminescence tour excellent trip to see. Place to visit during moonless night is the best time to plan. Clear sky and star viewing is fun too

      Response from Host, Feb 2026

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! ✨💙 We’re so happy to hear that you had an excellent bioluminescence experience with us. You’re absolutely right — moonless nights create the darkest skies, making the glow even more spectacular. And when the sky is clear, the stargazing adds another magical layer to the adventure. 🌌 Thank you for recommending the experience and for choosing Mosquito Biobay Tours. We hope to welcome you back again for another glowing night on the water! 🛶✨

      Disappointing staff

      Carla_M, Jan 2026
This company was by far our least favorite of the tours we have taken. The guide spoke extremely poor English. We are bilingual Spanish and English speakers and we couldn't understand our guide. Also he used very bright lights and it made it hard for our eyes to adjust to the bioluminescence

      Response from Host, Jan 2026

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We take all comments seriously and would like to clarify a few important points for accuracy. Our tours are conducted exclusively in English and Spanish, and all of our guides are fully bilingual. Given that you mentioned being bilingual in both languages, it is unusual and concerning to hear that the explanations were not understood in either language, as the tour is consistently delivered in both to ensure clear communication for all guests. Regarding lighting, the lights used during the tour are regulated safety lights, required to maintain visibility and ensure guest safety while navigating the bay. These lights are used responsibly and in compliance with environmental and safety guidelines. Guides are trained to minimize light use specifically to protect night vision and allow proper adaptation to the bioluminescence. While we respect that experiences can be subjective, we stand behind the professionalism of our staff, the bilingual nature of our tours, and the safety procedures we follow during every excursion. — Angel Mosquito Biobay Tours LLC

      Partial refund rejected

      Saravana_K, Dec 2025
I understand that we were not able to reach 24 hours prior to the event, but it was last minutes kids fell sick. I called them and they offered to talk to the owner to consider at least partial refund because we were a large group and we paid almost $650 for all of us. This is a courtesy request because of the huge amount involved.

      Response from Host, Dec 2025

Thank you for your review, and we’re truly sorry to hear your children got sick — we hope they’re feeling better. Although the cancellation was made within 24 hours of the tour (which is normally not eligible for a refund under our cancellation policy), we did issue a partial refund as an act of goodwill because we understand unexpected situations can happen, especially with kids. We always try to be fair while also respecting the costs we already have committed for guides, equipment, and transportation. If you have any questions about the amount refunded, please reach out to us through the booking message center so we can review the details with you.

      Somewhat Forgettable

      Gloria_T, Dec 2025
If you are coming back on the ferry, no later than a 6:30 tour to make it to the 9:00 ferry. Get your cab ready for pick up at the ferry and for pick up after the tour at the green store. It’s cold on the ferry on the way back since you will be wet so change clothes or bring a blanket. The actual tour was relaxing once you got on the water, but chaotic up until that point. The clarity of the stars, the moon, and the sound of the water brought serenity. Yes, there is some glow, but don’t expect it to be lit up. When you move your oars is when you see the bioluminescence. If I come back to PR, I would likely skip it or try for the tours from Fajardo.🤷🏻‍♀️

      Response from Host, Dec 2025

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’d like to clarify a few points to ensure accuracy for future travelers. Our tour logistics, including recommended tour times for guests returning on the ferry, are clearly communicated in advance, and many guests successfully make the 9:00–9:30 PM ferry by booking the appropriate tour time, as you noted. Transportation and ferry schedules, however, are managed by third-party providers and are outside our control. What you describe as “chaotic” prior to entering the water includes check-in, transportation to the bay, mandatory safety briefing, and kayak preparation—all essential steps to ensure guest safety in a protected natural reserve. These procedures are standard, structured, and intentionally paced for safety. Bioluminescence is a natural phenomenon, not artificial lighting. As correctly mentioned in your review, the glow is visible with movement (such as paddling), which is exactly how dinoflagellates respond in nature. This variability is clearly disclosed in our tour description and is the same across all bioluminescent bays. Comparisons to tours from other locations do not reflect differences in natural conditions, access logistics, or conservation rules, and should not be interpreted as a failure of the experience offered in Mosquito Bay—widely recognized as one of the most unique bioluminescent environments in the world. While we respect that every experience is subjective, we stand behind the organization, safety, and transparency of our tours as advertised. — Angel Mosquito Biobay Tours LLC

      Defiantly NOT worth the Money

      hmpw6fx6ck, Dec 2025
It was very unorganized! First - in the description it tells you really nothing to expect or what to bring or not to bring, what to wear or not to wear Secondly - for people (such as myself and my family) that had never kayak prior, they didn’t seem to care and just took off and left us behind. Then, the ‘assistant’ was more worried about being on his phone than actually helping anyone. My husband ended up having to go back prior to the end and he did what was told of him; tell someone, don’t just go back. Yet the assistant just said go that way and that way and you will get there and made him go back alone….why, because he was more worried about being on his phone! No one helps you in or out of the kayaks and with them being soaked, you slip so I twisted my ankle getting in but why would they care?! And getting out I almost fell into the water but I was taking too much time so I was being yelled at by the assistant. The bus ride was the icing on the cake - 10 mins of driving down a dirt road with legit pot holes the width of the road / people going both directions and praying you don’t get stuck in said watery pot hole since you are so far in the woods so you don’t collide with the person coming head on in your direction •••• SCARY! It was neat seeing the Bio Luminescent Bay but defiantly not worth $240 / seeing it was the New Moon, I defiantly expected more of a ‘WOW’ factor but it was neat.

      Response from Host, Dec 2025

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We would like to clarify a few important points for future travelers reading this review. Our tour description on Viator and our confirmation emails clearly outline what to expect, what to bring, and how to prepare, including clothing recommendations and physical requirements. We also always encourage guests with no prior kayaking experience to let us know at check-in so we can provide additional guidance. Our tours are guided at a controlled pace, and our crew is trained to monitor all participants throughout the experience. At no point are guests intentionally left behind. Regarding the situation you described, our internal review with the staff indicates that assistance and instructions were provided, and safety protocols were followed as required. For safety reasons, guests who choose to return early are instructed on the correct and safest route back, which is standard procedure and is done to avoid disrupting the group in low-light conditions. Our crew remains attentive throughout the tour, and phone use is strictly limited to operational and safety purposes. Assistance getting in and out of kayaks is provided when needed; however, kayaking is an outdoor activity that involves water and uneven surfaces, and participants should expect wet conditions. Proper footwear is strongly recommended for this reason. Regarding transportation, access to Mosquito Bay is via a designated dirt road managed by local authorities. While it can feel rustic, this is the only authorized access route and is used by all tour operators. Our drivers are experienced and prioritize safety at all times. Bioluminescence is a natural phenomenon and varies in intensity depending on environmental conditions. While new moon phases generally provide excellent visibility, the brightness of the organisms themselves can never be guaranteed, which is clearly stated in our tour information. We truly value all feedback and continuously work to improve our operations. We regret that this experience did not align with your expectations, but we stand behind our safety standards, our staff, and the quality of our tours. — Angel Mosquito Biobay Tours LLC

Very disorganized, would not recommend this group.

      James_R, Dec 2025
We had a disappointing experience. The location was very hard to find, with no clear signage—just a piece of paper with our names on it, unlike other nearby companies. Transportation was in an old school bus, and the ride was extremely bumpy and, at times, scary. The tour itself felt disorganized. The guide was very soft-spoken and hard to hear, and with seven kayaks, the experience felt rushed and impersonal. While the activity was okay, other groups nearby were far more organized with better guides. Overall, I would not recommend this tour.

      Response from Host, Dec 2025

fter carefully reviewing our records and operations, we can confirm that this reviewer did not participate in a tour with our company and appears to be confusing us with a different operator. Our meeting location is clearly communicated by email after booking, and we do not place customer names on paper at the site. Additionally, we do not use school buses for transportation, and our operation includes up to 21 kayaks, not seven as mentioned. For these reasons, this review does not accurately reflect our services and does not belong to our company. We respectfully request that this review be reviewed, as it appears to be posted under the wrong operator.

Was definitely an awesome experience. The most important part of planning and executing our trip was the customer service experience. Do not book

      Asia_D, Oct 2025
We arrived at ferry 5 hours early and were told we could not go to island, and could not get a refund. Absolutely do not book and would not recommend.

      Response from Host, Oct 2025

We’re sorry to hear about your experience, but we’d like to clarify that all of our tours take place on the island of Vieques, which is separate from the main island of Puerto Rico and requires travel by ferry. This information is clearly stated on our website and booking pages before checkout. Our cancellation and no-show policy—which every guest agrees to at the time of booking—states that refunds cannot be issued for guests who do not arrive to Vieques in time for the tour or who miss their ferry. However, whenever possible, we always offer rebooking to a later tour time at no additional cost to help accommodate guests affected by ferry delays or missed departures. Please note that the ferry service is operated independently by Puerto Rico Ferry, and we unfortunately have no control over its schedules or boarding procedures. We always encourage our guests to plan extra travel time or stay overnight in Vieques to avoid these issues. We understand your frustration and truly wish circumstances had allowed you to join us, as we pride ourselves on providing a safe and memorable experience for all of our visitors. Warm regards, Mosquito BioBay Tours

      Beautiful but Chatty

      Alice_J, Oct 2025
Don’t miss the bioluminescent bay, it is spectacular. Really enjoyed the nighttime kayak, hearing the frogs, the ocean waves and learned a lot. Only wish, we could have had 5 minutes of silence or so to just drink it all in, perhaps reflect internally. I’d suggest the guides work a quiet moment into the information sharing for those that need silence as well.

      Response from Host, Oct 2025

Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful feedback! 🌟 We’re delighted that you enjoyed the beauty of the Bioluminescent Bay and the peaceful sounds of nature during your kayak tour. We truly appreciate your thoughtful suggestion about including a quiet reflection moment — that’s a great idea, and we’ll be sure to share it with our guides to enhance the experience for future guests. We hope to welcome you back for another magical night under the stars! — Mosquito Biobay Tours Team

      Not for English speaking visitors

      Kachai_C, Oct 2025
The biobay is definitely worth visiting. Do pick a new moon (no moon) period so the biofluorescence will be much more visible and glowing! For this tour, I appreciate the two guides ensured our safety. However, while I chose an "English guide" when I paid, the two guides spoke Spanish (to the rest of the group) for 95% of the time. Me and another English speaking girl were left unattended for around 1 hour in the bay. The guides were not aware of the time that I needed to ask what time we were returning. We ended up returning to the pick up spot 20 minutes late. Overall, after this tour, I still know minimal about the biofluorescent bay which I am very disappointed about. I will not recommend this tour to visitors who don't speak Spanish.

      Response from Host, Oct 2025

Dear Guest, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear that you felt the experience did not fully meet your expectations regarding the English guidance. On that specific day, there were a large number of Spanish-speaking guests in the group who were asking many questions during the tour. This may have made it seem that the tour was mostly conducted in Spanish. However, our guides are always more than happy to answer any questions in English and ensure all guests understand and enjoy the experience equally. We truly appreciate your understanding and your visit to Mosquito Biobay Tours. Your comments help us continue improving and providing the best possible experience for all our visitors. Warm regards, Mosquito Biobay Tours LLC

      Ok, but not the best

      Rance_W, Oct 2025
It was OK. Not as bright as we had hoped, but there was a half moon. Would be great if you've never seen it before, but we've seen brighter.

      Response from Host, Oct 2025

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Bioluminescence does vary depending on natural conditions such as the moon phase, tides, and weather. On nights with a brighter moon, the glow can appear less intense. We’re glad you were still able to enjoy the tour, and we’d love to host you again on a darker night so you can see the bay at its brightest! 🌙✨

      Great experience with great coordination

      Sunyoung_L, Aug 2025
The experience was amazing. My 12 year old boy was completely mesmerized by the bioluminescence. The tour guides appropriately guided us to take an earlier ferry and get there early to get tickets, and gave us a taxi driver’s number who lives right in front of the pick up and drop off spot. We got to Ceiba at 12:00pm, were able to on 1pm ferry, went to the Esperanza beach, enjoyed meals and snorkeling, and then went to 7pm tour pick up location on foot. After the tour ended at 8:30, our taxi driver came out from his house right in front of the drop off spot and took us back to Ferry dock. A smooth day with an amazing experience all along all thanks to the guidance provided by this team. Gracias!

At night everything was ok, until the employees star to speak using curse words in front of kids. The owner of this tours agency most re-evaluate his employees.

      Response from Host, Oct 2025

Thank you for sharing your feedback. After conducting a full investigation, we confirmed that on the date in question there were several tour companies operating in the same small area of the bay. The employee you mentioned who was allegedly using inappropriate language was not part of our company. We always strive to maintain a respectful and family-friendly environment, and we take these matters very seriously.
