Such a beautiful experience, I wish it would’ve been longer!! We went on a very dark night so the bay was extra bright. I recommend going during the new moon phase that way it’s extra dark to see the bioluminescence better. Staff was very nice and the vibes were amazing. Very educational as well! 1000% recommend!

Both our tour guide and driver Emma were awesome! Definitely recommend it. No bugs or musquitos, take your phones with you as they provide life jackets with pockets. Wear a light footware as they don't allow any footware in the clear kayaks.

Unless you have a really great camera you wont get the amazing pictures, keep in mind. However for the memories and experience, it was super worth it and id do it again. Our guide shared the knowledge of the microbes and the bay itself and she even threw some astronomy in there. Would 100% recommend!

Israel was excellent from beginning to end. He took lots of time to tell us about the history of the island and was extremely friendly

      Great experience!

Alesio was our guide and he was great, explaining some of the science in easy terms but also letting us have our own time to paddle around and explore. The clear bottom kayaks were very cool — with the dinoflagellates zooming by like stars in space. Even on a night with moonlight, we saw a lot, but know that some areas have brighter pockets of the little organisms, so move around and explore!

Don’t worry about having water shoes. Flip flops are a good option. You will need shoes to walk towards the water, but will be asked to remove them before loading into the clear kayaks. Any bug spray with Deet is a no, no because it hurts the environment. Walking into the water was mushy, so just a warning for those that are sensitive to that sort of thing. The kayaks are 2 person. When we finally got going, looking down at the glass bottom was fantastic. It glowed like glitter as we paddled out to the bay. We had our main guide in the front and another tailing the group. They were both super friendly and helpful. Our tail guide watched to make sure we didn’t float away. The tour was so educational. The guide spoke about the history and science of the bay, but also the stars in the sky. Absolutely beautiful experience! I highly recommend the tour for those that know how to use a kayak or it might be challenging to enjoy. Last note, you will get a bit wet when paddling out and back.

Great experience, even for old folks like me. I learned a lot and there’s something magical about being out on the bay at night.

An amazing experience! We kayaked at night and watched the water glow bright blue with every paddle. It was so cool to see!

This was a fantastic experience! We didn’t know what to expect with the bioluminescence and being able to see it, but it was magical and a must see if in the area. Your guides were fun and informative. Would highly recommend

      Pure magic at your fingertips!

      Jessie_L, Jun 2026
Absolutely incredible experience that we can’t recommend highly enough! Highlights: -Super easy to book on Viator. -Great communication from the company beforehand. -Meeting spot is quick and easy to get to—we stayed in Esperanza, and it was literally 3 minutes away from our rental. -Guides and crew are super efficient and knowledgeable. We learned a lot and had a great time! -The clear kayaks are the only way I’d want to do this—they made the experience even better. It was like sailing through stars. -Yes, the road there was super bumpy, but honestly? You’re going on an amazing adventure, and it was worth it several times over. -We loved that this supported conservation of the Bay—it’s an absolute treasure and a conservation success story. In our opinion, this is an absolute do-not-miss, and this company is the best one to go with!

      Absolutely Amazing!

      Maggie_R, Jun 2026
My whole family loved the biobay tour. The clear kayaks make you feel like you are zooming through space with all of the light coming through the bottom. It was truly an out of this world experience. I was in constant awe of just how amazing it was. My husband and I split up with the kids, 10 & 12 yrs old and were fine to paddle through the tour. Our tour guide was very helpful if you needed anything, as well as sharing some really awesome information about the bio bay. Plus he was very funny! Make sure you book when the moon is right so you are able to see better, it does make a difference. Absolutely worth going over to Vieques to do this! Thanks for the great experience!

      What a great experience!...

      Anna_H, Jun 2026
What a great experience! It was easy and fun from start to finish. Meetup was clearly explained and was a breeze. They drove us into the actual site and everything was handled by their staff, as far as setup and getting started. Our guide was very informative and knew so much about the bay and the science behind the bioluminescence. The bioluminescent experience itself is indescribable. The millions of flickering lights flying under your kayak, the glowing tracks of fish and your hand tracing glowing tracks in the water...everything about it was incredible and bucket-list worthy.

      Most beautiful experience!

Absolutely top-notch. DEFINITELY do the glass-bottomed kayaks! We saw so much color under our kayak and would have missed all of this in a standard boat. Our guide was fantastic!

      Too much moonlight

      Kim_W, May 2026
Don't go when the moon is out! We saw no bio luminous effects. It was fun kayaking at night.. go when new moon or cloudy! The moonlight kills the trip.

      Response from Host, May 2026

That is why we recommend coming not right before a full moon. If you read anything about bioluminesence you would know thats worst time to come . Obviously we don't control the moon light and how much bioluminesence each individual person sees, the biobay is different every night and everyone sees it differently. We are glad you had a good time kayaking with us and hope you come again closer to the new moon for better visibility:)
