Highly recommend this tour. Our tour guide was lovely. Even though the moon was very bright the night of our tour, our guide used a cover to show us the stunning glowing microorganisms. You have to experience it to know it.

    Could have been awesome

    Bibiane_K, Apr 2026
What could have been an awesome experience was honestly underwhelming. Our “guide” (and other staff) provided very little information and limited guidance. We were shuffled into the van, out of the van, into/out of kayaks and back into the van with minimal conversation. I could hear other tour groups and guides that were more interactive. We asked a few simple questions, and our guide wasn’t able to answer some of them- I don’t know if he understood. The little that he did speak included him criticizing my children who were very well behaved and repeatedly calling them “boy” and “girl.” After about 45 minutes he stopped and said- over there is where it is better but we’re not going there (with no further explanation). Overall, a weird experience that could and should have been much better for the cost and the awesome environment. I would recommend a similar experience, but not through this company and most definitely not our guide.

    The Darker the Better

This was absolutely fantastic! The experience was so so good!! Highly recommend. Also, we had a mostly full moon and you could still see it, but when a cloud almost entirely shut out the moon’s light it was vibrant! If you can, visit when there is not much moonlight. The darker the better!

    Beautiful but dissapointing experience.

We were looking forward to this trip and planned it months in advance to be there on a dark night. At the meet up point we were told the tour was overbooked. Because we booked months earlier and had our daughter with us, we didn't want to reschedule. They ended up putting the three of us (all nearly 6 feet tall) into one kayak that did not have a clear bottom. We were cramped and I felt like we could capsize at any time. The bay was cool, but there were so many boats and other groups that it was hard to know where to go. I'd love to go next time we are there but would book directly through a guide so we knew we'd have a clear boat and a boat that could fit us.

    Very enjoyable!

The later tours where the night has fallen ware better. The tour guide was very careful and protective. I loved it!

It was amazing! Anybody would feel like they are in the movie. You cannot believe it's true. The tour guide is so knowledgeable and friendly. Better than a completely clear kayak and we don't need to walk through the dirty mud! Totally enjoyed it. 100 out of 5.

The bay itself gave this experience 4 stars. Went on a full moon, and it was a spectacular sight to see! The guide was knowledgeable about the various fish and plants around, as well as the scientific reasons behind why the bay is bioluminescent. Kayaks are in pairs, and my kayak partner was not great at paddling nor a good sport, so it impacted my experience a little bit - just a heads up for solo travelers!

This was really cool! We did the 6:15 tour so we could make the last ferry back to PR. I was nervous that there would be too much light since it was earlier, but after the sun went down around 6:30-6:45 and we could really start to see the water light up. It was a new moon which helped! It was a windy night so the water was rougher, but that meant the mosquitoes weren’t out! This experience was awesome! We lined up Angel (+1 (787) 243-2564) for transportation to/from the ferry that day for $20/person. There might be a cheaper option, but I wanted to be sure we could get back in time for the ferry. We took the ferry over from PR that morning and spent the day exploring Vieques. Loved it. The communication with this company could be better. If Angel didn’t mention it was called Din Din (or something like that) I may not have found them at the Green Store. Also, we had 5 kids aged 7 through 14. They wanted one adult per boat which wasn’t going to happen. Each parent took the smaller 2 kids. Two of our middles (10 and 12) took another boat and our oldest partnered with another odd person out of another group. It was a little too much for the 10 and 12 year old in the rough waters, but the guide did a great job of making sure no one got left behind (which totally happened on another company’s tour that night).

    Fun time

please be aware that you will be stuff on a random island overnight or have to waste your money with no refund due to the lack of info. highly disappointed by the lack of clarity regarding how truly difficult it is to commute there and back.

The bioluminescence bay was amazing. Make sure to do it. However, the experience with the company could have been better. I booked the reservation 3.5 months in advance and 2 days before, I was told I had to move it to an earlier time in the evening. I chose a different day instead. When we arrived, we were not on their list, and luckily I had a text chain with the owner that confirmed our prior discussion, so we were allowed on the tour. There was little instruction, the guide seemed like he didn’t want to be there, but the van driver was nice. Bring mosquito repellant, because you may be waiting for the van.

Dindin Bio-Bay Tours- misrepresented in Viator

    GraceV_M, Feb 2026
We came to Vieques Island, Puerto Rico to stay for the week with a much anticipated visit to Bioluminescent Bay. We chose a Viator tour because usually it is a very reputable with its tours. This particular tour just was labeled "Clear Bottom Kayak Tour" without the name of the tour operator until after the tickets were purchased. We signed up for the 8 pm tour because we wanted to make sure that it was very dark in order to see the dinoflagelates. They told us to be at the meeting place at 6:15 (which we thought was kind-of early for the 8 pm tour). When they arrived, we were told that they had called us to tell us that there were not enough people for the 8 pm tour so do we want to go with their 6:30 tour. They had NOT called us!!! I was not at all happy!!! We almost did not go but we were afraid that we would not be able to go at all and had paid so we agreed reluctantly to go earlier. There were NO safety instructions nor lights for us in our kayaks to shine on the bay; the guide was NOT at all experienced like advertised (it was his very 1st tour) and he did not speak very much English so the tour was in Spanish!!! (Tour was advertised English & Spanish) My daughter does not speak nor understand Spanish fluently so unless one of the Hispanic people with us translated, she missed the little information given(nice man but very unprofessional with his lack of information). The WORST thing was when we were led to the kayaks, they were NOT clear bottoms!!!! We were soooo disappointed but it was too late to do anything about it. Thank God we got to see the bioluminescence otherwise it would have been a complete waste of time & money!!! The pick-up vehicle was an old, broken-down truck that could not accommodate all guests so a man had to sit in the bed of the truck!!! Usually, we read reviews before booking because we had complete faith in Viator so we didn't.. After our poor experience, we read many reviews and realized that many others had bad experiences with this company!!! We are very surprised that Viator still utilizes this Bio-Bay tour!!!!!

    Lovely Experience

    Alli_S, Feb 2026
The other people in our group were 30 min late to the meeting point but our tour guide Freddy was very patient and waited until they arrived. He came off a bit dismissive at first but i think he’s just a quiet guy. Once we were in the water he showed us that he knew exactly what he was doing and at one point in our trip huddled the kayaks together to give us a little story time about Mosquito Bay and even some fun facts about the stars above us which i really appreciated. He also took us a group photo and offered to ride us back to our ferry on the other side of the island (for a small fee) to help make sure we got there on time, which was not necessary but very kind of him. The actual experience was AMAZING even though we went on a windy night and the bio bay was only about 70% visible i 10/10 recommend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The camera doesn’t grasp the lights in the water it is something u just have to remember and hold onto the memory, just keep that in mind when booking this experience. Make sure you wear something u don’t mind getting wet bc my pants were soaked after the kayaking!!!!

    AWFUL Operators

    Philip_N, Feb 2026
DO NOT BOOK WITH VIATOR/DINDIN BIO BAY TOURS. Driver was sketchy, tour operator didn’t give instructions and we paid for a clear bottom kayak and did not get that! Requested a refund and got denied! ABSOLUTE SCAM! Definitely Book with reliable independent tour operators on vieques island!

Kinda sorta ok, just read all the details and reviews before booking

    Daniel_G, Feb 2026
This was not what I payed for, but I still got through a pretty sad tour that was honestly kinda pathetic, very disorganized and a little short due to the late pick up, when I got there it changed from a solo clear kayak tour to a double clear kayak with a girl that had no experience and whom had also had bought a clear kayak experience, luckily after mentioning said clear kayak purchase, the only one they had was a two person kayak, so my stranger partner, which was pretty cute, made me work to keep us straight as possible with other tours and locals appearing very quick in the dark, it just made it hard to enjoy a really dark and beautiful, pretty much perfect weather and very dark astronomical night, and of course the bio bay glow was awesome, this particular tour company is not the best or fun, but family friendly, soo...

    Scam alert!

    Jonathan_G, Feb 2026
This company is a scam, they let you book this trip with fully being aware that the ferry to get there is booked out for months. When we asked for a refund they declined, even after they admitted to this. This company is nefarious, stay away!

    Not suitable for young children

    David_C, Feb 2026
The tour guide was fine but two other couples brought 4 children under the age of 4 and they screamed, cried and carried on the entire time and absolutely ruined what would have otherwise been a tranquil experience. I do blame the operator a little for allowing it. It was unsafe and a total sh*t show.

    Unforgettable experience

    Katie_M, Feb 2026
Martinez from DinDin kayak is a wonderful guide, very knowledgeable of the bay and ecosystem. Clear. Bottom kayaks are amazing to see the bioluminescence as you paddle. 100% would recommend.

    Magical!

    Beth_B, Feb 2026
Super bright bioluminescence and Martinez was a great guide. Having a clear bottom kayak makes it even more fun. Highly recommend.

    The tour guide and staff...

    David_F, Feb 2026
The tour guide and staff were excellent. We had mistakenly thought there would be a new moon on the day we scheduled, as is recommended for the best experience . Since this was not the case, there was a little less ‘wow’ factor once we arrived at the bioluminescent waters. You could only see the blue color when the water was disturbed . Overall we have an enjoyable experience.

    Martinez- Bioluminescence Tour with Dindin.

    Jessica_W, Jan 2026
Martinez Floor was our tour guide. We did not stay overnight on the island so we booked the early tour. Martinez was aware of this and had made sure we time to get on the ferry back to Ceiba. We lucked out and were the only ones on his tour for the 6:15 trip (it’s best to see when it’s later) but he had tricks to help us see the micro organisms! He was very informative, kind and I would definitely book another tour with him.

We saw a lot of bioluminescence on the bay. The wind was a bit strong for paddling. But really nice guide and driver.

PICKUP TIME is 30 min earlier

    Grace_P, Jan 2026
I booked a 830 tour months in advance. I get the reminder email and the ticket an all and it says 830 trip, meet at Green store. So I go at 830, and no one is there. I read back through the tickets and nothing about 8pm meeting time but I saw it in the trip listing detail page. Apparently I’m the only one of the group who missed it, so maybe I’m the odd one out but i think making it better visible/obvious would be good Luckily, the company came to pick me up late! Turns out the car left 10 min before I got there at 830 on the dot. The ride to the bay is a bit bumpy. I realize now that this is because I was late (at the time I had no idea and thought I was the only one on the trip), but the guides said nothing the whole ride, then took me to a boat. They told me to sit in one canoe and asked if I know how to paddle. I said yes and they pushed the canoe off. Thankfully, a guide in a separate canoe came with! Tragically, the winds were particularly strong and you canoe actually quite a distance. Canoeing solo is not only tiring and difficult (I had a blister by the end) but it makes attempting to record (I had brought a special camera) much more difficult- I wasn’t sure why the guide didn’t just come in the same canoe as me. Whe I asked they didn’t give a great answer - I think the didn’t know how bad the wind was, and that I’d be set on wanting to record. You will get wet - even if you don’t leak from your paddle someone else next to you might. It was a bit chilly in Jan and I wore jeans and a denim jacket and I’m glad I did.

What a magical experience! Martinez was very professional and informative on our magical canoe trip. He pointed out many star constellations and took us to the mangrove to see oysters and various tiny fish as well as indigenous plant species. This experience was so truly thrilling and unique. The bioluminescent waters took our breath away. Don’t miss it while in Puerto Rico!

    Night show

    Andreas_S, Jan 2026
Great excursion to see the bioluminescent planktons. There is paddling in the clear bottom kayaks to reach the best sites to see the bioluminescence. One needs to be able to get in and out of a kayak which is made easier as the landing area is shallow. It is important to do the excursion when there is very little moonlight. Best to enjoy the experience and not try taking pictures. The guide explained about the plankton and added information about the stars, the mangroves, and the ecology. Very interesting and informative. A unique experience. The clear bottom kayaks are highly recommended.

It is not worth it to go...

    Madison_S, Jan 2026
It is not worth it to go if the moon is not a new moon. We went during the full moon knowing it wouldn't be at it's peak, but we ended up seeing just a usual lake. The tour guides did not show up for our scheduled time, and after I texted them they were still almost an hour late.
