We went out on an early (6:15pm) tour. Our guide was early and waited patiently for us to get everything together to leave our meeting spot. We went out after some rain and a warning gibbous moon and still saw some bioluminescent activity. We were told it's usually much brighter, but it was still beautiful...like tiny stars in the water! The bottom window on the kayaks was ideal for viewing the organisms flying by. Our tour guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. He pointed out natural landmarks, constellations, and explained the history and natural science of the bay. Our guide also helped us book a taxi to get back by our 9:30pm ferry. We actually made it back in time for the 8:3pm departure! I highly recommend this tour if you have any prior experience with kayaking or watersports. I imagine beginners are well received as well. I will definitely book this tour again with the same guide and company! Awesome small local company! Great value! 5 stars! 🤩 Thank you!

I was extremely disappointed with Dindin’s Biobay Tours. The experience felt disorganized and unprofessional from the start.
We were transported to Mosquito Bay in an old Ford pickup, packed so tightly side by side that there were not enough seat belts available for everyone. That was my most serious concern.
When we arrived, the kayaks were covered in mud and dirt. The tour also looked nothing like the photos in the listing. Based on those photos, I expected a very different experience; the reality felt misleading.
I cannot recommend this tour. The transportation, condition of the kayaks, and gap between the advertised photos and what we experienced all need to be addressed.
Israel was very knowledgeable, kind, and helpful! It was a great experience, and would definitely recommend! This was one of the best memories from my trip to PR!
Our family had a wonderful time on our kayak tour. We met up in a parking lot and they drove us to the kayak location. Our guide explained everything and took us out to the middle of the bay where we were able to paddle around and see the magical glow. Highly recommend!
We were very excited about this tour, we have booked many experiences on Viator and always go by the reviews. Leading up to this experience, there wasn’t a lot of communication but we followed the directions on the ticket for the meetup location. Upon arrival, it was very unclear where to go to meet this tour- there were no signs, no lights, and we actually ended up standing with the wrong group. Finally a white van pulled up with a sign and then we were able to find our driver. The driver brought us to Mosquito Bay where we met our guide. Unfortunately throughout the whole hour and a half, the guide never introduced himself or stated his name (which will be referenced again later on) but that was the first red flag. We were given life jackets and then taken down to the dock. The guide was in a massive rush and we were not even allowed to take photos prior to getting into the kayaks as he was telling us to hurry and get loaded. We had a group of 10 people and we launched, the guide did not give us a run down of the tour or the path nor did he really explain anything at all at this point. So we begin paddling. This night it was incredibly windy so we were getting blown all around and it was hard to stay as a group. Multiple times various people drifted off and there was no guidance or oversite from the guide to help them so we and others were assisting them. After 40 minutes of straight paddling, people began asking if we were going to stop at any point to allow a moment for photos/to be explained how the bioluminescence occurs, etc. the guide finally stopped and tied us off to a buoy. He did explain but so quietly that the majority of the group could not hear. Additionally we had asked what phone settings would be best to capture the effect and he advised to just turn on the night mode but no further assistance. While I understand this wasn’t a camera class, we’ve been on many other tours where the guides assist with that so the participants get the best photos possible as that’s a memory/keepsake they can have forever. Finally on the paddle back, 1 of the kayaks got separated from our group. They were having trouble with the current. We called out to the guide who was so far ahead of us and asked him to stop or slow down and possibly help them and he said we had everyone and needed to keep going- we did not have everyone, so again, we stopped and helped these people out. We ended up towing them in off our kayak. As we were unloading, another member of the group who was also traveling with others realized 2 members of his group had not gotten out of their kayaks yet and again the guide argued with him. Then another guide helped them get out and back to our group.
All in all, the water and the experience itself was beautiful but this isn’t a tour group or company I’d book with again or ever recommend to anyone.
It was a nice experience we got to kayak for about an hour, got to see the beautiful water and the in general it was very nice
It was a big disappointment as it’s not the season for the Bio bay to light up. Din Din company guides couldn’t find any patches of bioluminescent but one other kayak company used a tarp to cover themselves so they can see some bioluminescent activity. Din Din kayak company should do the same as they didn’t have a tarp. Don’t waste your money. I should get a partial refund.
One of the most magical experiences I have had, it was a spectacular view, and it rained abit while we were kayaking, most beautiful night ever. That night will always be close to my heart. I have booked this trip very last minute, Dindin was super resourceful. He was very communicative and help with the transportation as well. As a Solo Traveler, I have never felt safer.
So much fun! Definitely try to plan for a dark night around or on the new moon for the best results! Once you get out into the bay the glow is beautiful and the tour guide really cares about the history and makes it a relaxing experience.
Martinez, Gabriel, and the shuttle drivers were great. Martinez was very knowledgeable and friendly. He offered to take pictures for the groups and made sure everyone stayed together. We went during the best moon phase and were happy with how well you could see the bioluminescence. Definitely a memorable experience. Gracias Martinez. Our son loved the glow in the dark rocks. I felt our experience with extremely amazing, and I was very pleased with the host. We had a great time and the host made sure that we saw the bioluminescent.
It was a nice night didn't see a lot of lite parts but we did see some. We never been on a family kayak putting so just that was a experience for us. Our tour guide was very nice he told us some history of the area. We learned a lot about the bloumineasce area. We would recommend this for the experience.
They were very genuine, I had a blast and the best birthday night of my life. The bay was so bright and they knew what they were talking about, we had time to see some fishes and play around in the water. Overall I would come back and do a tour with them.
We went on the 8:00pm tour and it was great! Our guide, Martinez was very knowledgeable and made it a great experience for the kids and adults!
Both of our operators were amazing. We were late and he called us to tell us he would wait. They made the experience fun and gave us information about the science and history of the bay. We stayed out on the bay longer than expected and since there was a chance that we'd miss the ferry, they called a taxi service and had them waiting so our entire group would make it on time. They went above and beyond my expectations. I would definitely do this again.
AMAZING, incredible experience!! Puerto Ricans care about this Guinness Book of World Records Bioluminescent resource and the micro-organisms that comprise it; they protect it and share it responsibly. It’s like nothing else you can ever experience. Worth the drive/ferry/drive to get there and back. Plan to spend as much time as possible on the beautiful island (Viaques) while there - plenty to eat/drink/see and do, including 5000 wild horses.
The coordination for the trip was very easy. They were right in time and took their time describing everything that was going on. Martinez knows where to go and how to make it the best experience. Definitely good price for what you get.
To book a time before the moon is out. Make sure you have transportation after your tour. It was a learning experience.
The conditions weren't very good, the winds were very strong, resulting in challenging kayaking. Make sure to check the weather conditions the day before!
It was basically more kayaking then anything. A small area did light up the water more than usual when splashed, but wouldn't last. It was nothing like the advertised photos showed. The blue luminous only appears on photos, otherwise it looks like moonlight reflection on splashed water. To see this you need your partner sitting behind you taking quick pictures or recording it.
I don't believe this was worth spending a whole day traveling to get to a ferry to Veiques.
The water looked beautiful. Not super bright but beautiful for sure. The tour guides are amazing people they made us feel comfortable and safe at all times.
Very disappointing and unsafe experience. We booked the 8 PM slot, but were asked to switch to 6:30 PM. The crew gave no proper kayak or safety instructions, and their behavior was horrible. Instead of helping or encouraging us in the dark and windy conditions, one instructor kept rushing us and saying, “Move guys, we are getting late.”
My husband’s kayak seat also came loose, and we were turned back before seeing the bioluminescent bay. I would not recommend this tour, especially for beginners. Better to take an electric boat tour instead.
It was great experiencing this activity at mosquito bay. Mesmerized for sure! and our guide was so awesome. Martinez was very knolwedgebale about the area and the process on how the lights are visible and was highly flexible and accomdating of our requests. Would highly recommend
What could have been an awesome experience was honestly underwhelming. Our “guide” (and other staff) provided very little information and limited guidance. We were shuffled into the van, out of the van, into/out of kayaks and back into the van with minimal conversation. I could hear other tour groups and guides that were more interactive. We asked a few simple questions, and our guide wasn’t able to answer some of them- I don’t know if he understood. The little that he did speak included him criticizing my children who were very well behaved and repeatedly calling them “boy” and “girl.” After about 45 minutes he stopped and said- over there is where it is better but we’re not going there (with no further explanation). Overall, a weird experience that could and should have been much better for the cost and the awesome environment. I would recommend a similar experience, but not through this company and most definitely not our guide.
This was absolutely fantastic! The experience was so so good!! Highly recommend. Also, we had a mostly full moon and you could still see it, but when a cloud almost entirely shut out the moon’s light it was vibrant! If you can, visit when there is not much moonlight. The darker the better!
Highly recommend this tour. Our tour guide was lovely. Even though the moon was very bright the night of our tour, our guide used a cover to show us the stunning glowing microorganisms. You have to experience it to know it.
We were looking forward to this trip and planned it months in advance to be there on a dark night. At the meet up point we were told the tour was overbooked. Because we booked months earlier and had our daughter with us, we didn't want to reschedule. They ended up putting the three of us (all nearly 6 feet tall) into one kayak that did not have a clear bottom. We were cramped and I felt like we could capsize at any time. The bay was cool, but there were so many boats and other groups that it was hard to know where to go. I'd love to go next time we are there but would book directly through a guide so we knew we'd have a clear boat and a boat that could fit us.
The later tours where the night has fallen ware better. The tour guide was very careful and protective. I loved it!
It was amazing! Anybody would feel like they are in the movie. You cannot believe it's true. The tour guide is so knowledgeable and friendly. Better than a completely clear kayak and we don't need to walk through the dirty mud! Totally enjoyed it. 100 out of 5.
The bay itself gave this experience 4 stars. Went on a full moon, and it was a spectacular sight to see! The guide was knowledgeable about the various fish and plants around, as well as the scientific reasons behind why the bay is bioluminescent. Kayaks are in pairs, and my kayak partner was not great at paddling nor a good sport, so it impacted my experience a little bit - just a heads up for solo travelers!
This was really cool! We did the 6:15 tour so we could make the last ferry back to PR. I was nervous that there would be too much light since it was earlier, but after the sun went down around 6:30-6:45 and we could really start to see the water light up. It was a new moon which helped! It was a windy night so the water was rougher, but that meant the mosquitoes weren’t out! This experience was awesome! We lined up Angel (+1 (787) 243-2564) for transportation to/from the ferry that day for $20/person. There might be a cheaper option, but I wanted to be sure we could get back in time for the ferry. We took the ferry over from PR that morning and spent the day exploring Vieques. Loved it. The communication with this company could be better. If Angel didn’t mention it was called Din Din (or something like that) I may not have found them at the Green Store. Also, we had 5 kids aged 7 through 14. They wanted one adult per boat which wasn’t going to happen. Each parent took the smaller 2 kids. Two of our middles (10 and 12) took another boat and our oldest partnered with another odd person out of another group. It was a little too much for the 10 and 12 year old in the rough waters, but the guide did a great job of making sure no one got left behind (which totally happened on another company’s tour that night).
