Great Experience!

Jason_H, Mar 2026
There were a myriad of exhibits at the Aquarium. Although all of the fish exhibits were nice, I enjoyed the rescue exhibits the most. The sea lions, the seals and the otters were my favorite. The arctic ice display posters were very informative too!

Awesome experience

The overall experience of visiting the Vancouver aquarium was great. Consider 3-4hrs of family time with kids or friends, the cafe is great. Do try the Blue Rasberry slush with ice cream, it's super yummy. If you are a local resident with a family size of 4, it's advisable to take an annual membership as it's more cost-beneficial and you can plan 3-4 trips in a year as summer has lots of funfilled activities and programs for kids. In addition, lots of volunteering opportunities for High school and Univesity students who enjoy marine life.

excellent

kids love this place. A lot of things to see and play. They also have a 4 D theatre. You can spend a few hours there.

Lovely day out

I visited out of peak season on a weekday so it wasn’t packed, which was really nice! Really great attractions & demonstrations. Definitely worth a visit while you’re here especially with little ones.

Great family experience

Our visit to the aquarium was great! Lots to see. Parking was difficult to find, it was a busy day. The penguins were a big hit!

Wonderful day

Christopher_T, Nov 2019
We had such a great day as a family learning about sea life and seeing the creatures we share this planet with. I was a little sad that the dolphin was alone....I hope they correct that! Overall, great place to make memories

Lots of fun!!

Many wonderful things to see there. Best thing about this place is they rescue!! The seals, dolphins and otters there were all rescued for one reason or another, they aren’t being held captive!! While there we aquadopted an otter that was rescued. Would love to go again!!

Something for Everyone!

The aquarium was phenomenal! My kiddos enjoyed it and we stayed well over 3 hours. Although the movie and exhibit on ocean trash was sad, they learned from it and we all purchased reusable straws that we used the entire vacation. The otters were amazing!

Eh.

We had a long layover in Vancouver and decided to head to a few places around the city, starting with the aquarium. As tourists, we trusted the reviews and the word of mouth reputation that preceded our choice to visit. Regrettably, were a bit let down by the lack of things to do. The aquarium is much smaller than we anticipated. The otters were the highlight of the trip and fun to watch at feeding time. There are a few small sections with fishes, and a small rainforest (surprisingly, as soon as we stepped inside of the Butterfly exhibit, one of the pink flamingoes ate the very beautiful blue butterfly flying by the entrance). The dominant theme throughout the aquarium was plastic pollution, only to be offset by hundreds of plastic trinkets in the gift shop. Overall, it was a pricey detour (understandably, it's very very costly to feed and care for the animals) and not long lived - we spent approx 60-90 minutes here, incl the 4d movie, and visiting the Otters three times). I give it two stars for the work they are doing with animals that cannot be released to the wild, but the program and facilities seem tired and in need of a overhaul.

Wonderful animals

This is a small aquarium in a spectacular piece of Vancouver. Lots of outdoor exhibits so it is not a rainy day activity. Certainly not the most impressive aquarium we have seen but it was fun and you got close to the animals in their habitats. Nice food court with healthy food options.

This is a no-brainer! If you're planning on going to the Vancouver Aquarium I highly recommend using the Viator ticket option. It saves you money and goes directly to your email. The aquarium was an easy to manage size and we were able to see everything we wanted in an afternoon. A lovely place to start or end a day in Stanley Park!

A great way to start our Vancouver stay. Parking was easy when we arrived at opening time, and we enjoyed the many exhibits and displays. Lots of varieties of jellyfish on exhibit - more than other aquariums have.

Really enjoyed the Aquarium. Lots of marine life to see and live shows. It was raining the day I came, but that's normal in the northwest. The layout of the Aquarium made it easy to see everything easily.

Was surprised at how small it actually was. Thought we'd be able to spend a whole day there, but it only took a couple of hours to get through. Snack and drink prices were very high, and the crowds were crazy.

Very cool aquarium. We spent about a half day there seeing all the exhibits, as well as the 4D movie experience. Well worth it! Only downside was the number of people attending while we were there--it was crowded.
