Great Day Out

We really enjoyed our day out. There was only myself and my husband, so we had a private tour. Our driver and guide were early and patiently waiting for us in the lobby of the hotel. We went to all the sites in the itinerary and as promised all entrance fees were paid for us. In addition, they were happy for us to do extra if we wanted at no extra cost to ourselves, such as climbing the rice field terraces. Our guides were lovely, patient and very keen to make sure we had a good time. Top marks!

We really liked seeing a temple and hearing about the purpose and how it is used. The monkey forest was our favorite and we could have spent the whole day watching monkeys playing and also looking at the beautiful forest and scenery. The rice terraces were okay. Very muddy on our trip so make sure to wear casual clothes and good shoes- I saw some women in dresses and nice sandals and I felt bad for them. We liked all the photo opportunities on the walk around the terraces. The waterfall was awesome but beware of the stairs going down and that you have to climb them to get back up! Because of recent rain the waterfall was brown and moving fast so there was no swimming. But we walked out into the middle of the stream and waded around. Again, you should be careful what you wear! The mist from the falls will get you wet even if you don’t get in the water. The scenery in the valley was really nice. The absolute best part was our guide, Dharma. He was so friendly and of course knew everything about the places we visited and any other questions we had. His English was very good. We talked about his family home and temple, traditions, his children and the educational system here, and even his pets. Our 11 year old son loved him and Dharma was great with him.
