A guided tour with no guide.

This is a long drive to visit some of Bali’s most iconic temples and rice terraces. We expected a “guided” tour, but were simply driven to each attraction and left to explore on our own, meeting the driver at a preset time and place. The vehicle was clean and comfortable and the driver safe and cheerful. The buffet lunch was tasty and generous, the sites visited were memorable and the day enjoyable. However we missed any insights into the history and culture of Bali which have been so lavishly praised in other reviews.

Dewa (with Rio Bali Tours) was a fabulous guide. Smiling, he began by picking me up on time in a clean and air-conditioned vehicle. As planned, we visited the temples and the rice terrace. My favorite temple was Luhur Batukaru -- high up the mountain and not crowded. Dewa guided me to all the best spots and gave me time when I wanted to linger; he also added an extra stop to feed one of my particular interests. He was friendly, a good photographer, informative and also ok to have a bit of silence (which I appreciated). Along the drive, Dewa stopped so I could see locals in action (e.g., harvesting rice) and take pictures. The lunch was a nice buffet with a good view. Overall, it was 10/10 and I highly recommend this tour.

Approaching this tour, we were a bit unsure what to expect, especially considering the "high" cost. However, any apprehension we had quickly vanished. The day unfolded beautifully, with visits to all the must-see temples and the absolute highlight being our exceptional guide, Ketut. His kindness and calm demeanor were truly disarming, creating a welcoming atmosphere where we felt comfortable asking anything about Balinese culture. Ketut went beyond the typical tour guide script, engaging in open and genuine conversation that enriched our experience tenfold. Can highly recommend and I hope you get Ketut Arsana as your guide. (i'm not sure if you can request this upon booking, but you can try :) Once again thank you Ketut Arsana for hosting this beautiful tour for us!!

A Memorable Day

Red Dog picked us up a little before our planned time and discussed our itinerary. Really appreciate their flexibility in prioritizing the things and places that were important to us. Wayan, our driver, was excellent; and Red Dog, our guide, provided great commentary on our drive. It was a long day with lots of driving, but we expected that. And we were able to see some beautiful places in the western area of Bali including 2 Hindu temples (which were spectacular) and the UNESCO rice terraces.

It was a great tour. You’ve to know, that it is a very long tour (about 10 hours from Benoa beach) but it’s worth it. The best part for us was the Jatiluwih rice terrace. So we spoke to our driver (was a very nice guy), that we want to skip the last temple, to have more time to for the terrace. It was okay and so we’ve been there for over two hours what was very good!

Discover West-Bali!

We had a great trip with our guide Ketut! We drove to the west of Bali and discovered 3 nice temples, one of them deep into the tropical Forest and there were no tourists at all! It was quiet and peaceful! We also had a nice stroll into the ricefields. We saw farmers and cows working on the field and we bought some local rice. Our guide Ketut told us a lot about this region and drove very well! It was quit a long distance but we had water and airco in the car and a great lunch in a local restaurant. Thanks for a great trip!
