Very informative. Beautiful Hyde’s.
The guide is very knowledgeable.
Highly recommend this tour.
We were lucky to have beautiful weather.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Thank you for choosing Tino Pai Tours and we appreciate your great feedback! We’re delighted that your guide made the experience both informative and memorable. It sounds like the weather really showed off the area at its best too! We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back again someday 😊

No allocated time for lunch. Should have had a lunch stop before getting to cultural experience. Had enough time instead of stopping on side of road to look at a kiwi plant.
The tour was very good with the old geyser
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the tour and especially the visit to the geyser.
Regarding lunch, the driver did advise the group that there was an option to have lunch available at Te Puia. As the tour began at 11am, most guests indicated they did not wish to stop for lunch at that time, and no one in the group expressed a preference to include it in the itinerary.
We appreciate your comments and will continue to review how we communicate options during the tour to ensure all guests feel comfortable sharing their preferences.

We were very disappointed with this trip The driver was nice but had no interaction with the people on the trip.
Whilst driving he did not provide any information on the area or the attractions we were going to see. Our first stop was a roadside stop to see a Kiwi fruit ! Our second stop was for the foot bath at a local park.
The final stop at Te Pulia Rotorua was very good but not worth the money we had paid.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the experience did not meet your expectations.
We’re pleased to hear you found the driver to be nice and that you enjoyed the visit to Te Puia in Rotorua. Regarding commentary, our drivers do provide information throughout the journey; however, we understand that expectations can vary, and we’ll continue working with our team to ensure a more consistently engaging experience for all guests.
The short stops along the way, including the kiwi fruit and foot bath, are intended to showcase local points of interest. That said, we appreciate your comments and recognise that these may not have aligned with what you were hoping for, particularly in terms of overall value.
Thank you again for sharing your thoughts. Your feedback is important to us as we continue to improve our tours.

This was a great day. We were treated to the magnificent eruption of the geyser. Don’t miss this if you in town for the day. We were also treated to a kiwi bird viewing and a terrific Māori cultural show. The tour director was great and easy to find. Highly recommend!
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Kia ora Karen and thanks for choosing Tino Pai Tours. Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear you had such a great day and were able to experience the magnificent geyser eruption — it truly is something special to witness. It’s fantastic that you also enjoyed the kiwi bird viewing and the Māori cultural show. We’re proud to showcase these unique experiences, and it’s lovely to know they made your visit memorable. We’ll be sure to pass your kind words on to your tour director as well — they’ll really appreciate it.
Thank you for the recommendation, and we hope to welcome you back again someday!

We have never had to give a tour below a 5 stars before when traveling with Viator as they require only the best to be booked thru them. But we would have wanted to know about this tour company before booking it. While we did get to see Te Puia & the guide at the attraction was amazing, we did not get to see the following which is what was listed when we booked & we were brought back nearly 2 hours early so it could have been included.
Redwoods - 15 minute stop.
Government Gardens - 15 minute stop.
Sulphur Point - 15 minute stop.
Kuirau Park - 30 minute stop.
Plus we got hardly any commentary on the bus. Just dead air back & forth to Te Puia. So we missed a lot of info on Tauranga.
After complaining about it we got lots of excuses, including that they were told to bring us back 2 hrs early, but our ships identical tours came back right at the same time we were supposed to, so clearly that wasn't an issue.
They offered us 20% refund, but as we explained to the manager, it wasn't the money, it was that they brought us back early, missing sights, no commentary & Tauranga info, etc, and we live 8,000+ miles away in NC USA so there is very little chance we will make it back to Tauranga to finish the touring we should have had. So they should have told us in advance they were not going to go to the sites & were shortening the tour we had paid for, as we would have cancelled & went with another tour company to get a full tour.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback. We are truly sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations.
We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your visit to Te Puia and that the guide there provided a memorable experience. However, we regret that other aspects of the day left you disappointed.
While you were returned to the port earlier than anticipated, we would like to clarify that the tour did operate for the full six-hour duration. The timing adjustments on the day were influenced by the pace of the group, which moved more slowly than we would normally experience. To ensure all guests were comfortable and able to fully participate, additional time was required at certain points of the tour. As a result, some of the shorter scenic stops — including Redwoods Whakarewarewa Forest, Government Gardens, Sulphur Point, and Kuirau Park — were not able to be included as originally planned.
That said, we acknowledge that any meaningful itinerary adjustments should be clearly communicated, and we apologize if this was not explained thoroughly on the day. We also regret that the onboard commentary did not meet expectations. Providing informative and engaging narration about Tauranga and the surrounding region is an important part of the experience, and we appreciate you highlighting this concern.
We understand your perspective that this was about more than compensation. Traveling such a long distance makes every stop meaningful, and we genuinely regret that your time in Tauranga did not fully reflect what you had anticipated.
Your feedback has been shared with our team as part of our ongoing review process to help us improve communication and delivery in the future.

Had a great day. Messina was very knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble for her. We visited everything promised on the tour including a couple of extras like the rapids and waterfall but of course Te Puia was the highlight
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Kia ora Bob and thank you for choosing Tino Pai Tours. Te Puia certainly is a place to remember, so much to see and experience. Yes Messina is a great host who always goes the extra mile for our visitors. Very pleasing to hear you had a great tour with us. Maybe we will see you again in our beautiful country.

Overall the tour was nice. The Maori Cultural Center was really cool. Our guide within the center was awesome. I was expecting more commentary from our driver. Our driver was super nice and answered all our questions. I realize that when booking it was mentioned that additional stops were based on time allotment. Most of us were from the Carnival ship that wasn't leaving port until 7pm, however our tour also included people from the Princess ship that was also in port, but they were slated to leave 2 hours before us. This forced us back early. It was stated we would have a lunch stops in Rotorua and that never happened. Also it was mentioned we would be provided a towel for a foot spa? Never saw or heard anything about a foot spa. I will say that after we returned to our ship we realized we left an item on the tour bus. I contacted the tour operator and they found the item and they said they would send it to us. I provided my address, but have not heard back about this.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Kia ora Christine. Thank you for your feedback. I apologise for the inconvenience caused. We always try to give you the best experience while here in Tauranga. On the morning of the tour, all operators were given a briefing by tourism board at the port to advise that due to the Ali Campbell (UB40) concert at Mount Maunganui last night that it was highly recommended we try to be back on the port before the two main roads to the port became congested due to concert goers. I did forward on to our drivers to be back 4pm to play it safe with the anticipated traffic and I waited at the port to ensure all our groups got back safely. However, I am pleased you enjoyed Te Puia. I have sent the binoculars so they will be there when you get home. Many thanks.
Ellen_M, Feb 2026
Tom our driver/guide was excellent. He is an excellent driver on the mountain road and made the journey enjoyable throughout the day.
The art school and learning the history of the Maoir people was very interesting.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Kia ora Ellen and thank you for choosing Tino Pai Tours. Wonderful to hear you enjoyed your day at Te Puia. Tom likes to ensure his passengers enjoy their day so he will be pleased to hear your review. We hope to see you again in NZ. Enjoy the rest of your cruise
Andres_R, Jan 2026
I wish we would have more time. The geyser boiling peak was not on the time we were there, but the place is super cool and the history is very rich. I recommend this tour. The only downside is the tour bus doesn't have loud speakers and it was difficult hear the vehicle operator at some points. Everything else was A+
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Kia ora and thank you for choosing Tino Pai Tours. Te Puia is an absolute beauty of a tour so much to see and do and all the culture to take in. Very happy to hear you enjoyed your day. Thank you for the feedback about the speakers we will follow that up. Please return to our beautiful country.
Alex_L, Jan 2026
My family was sad to miss the Maori dance as the local operator did not check the schedule time for the show properly. The driver was given the wrong time. Otherwise the driver took us to the other places on time and was very friendly.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Kia ora Alex, many thanks for choosing Tino Pai Tours. Yes it appears there was a communication error and we are undertaking a review to improve this issue. Glad you enjoyed the other sights you saw, hope you enjoyed NZ and what it has to offer.
Mi_Y, Dec 2025
The highlights of the tour in the description give you high expectations. In the actual tour not every featured activity was fully fulfilled. The Kuirau Park and the Māori performance were the highlights. But we didn’t get to see redwoods. It’s disappointing that we didn’t make any stop at the scenic sulphur point.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Kia ora, thank you for choosing Tino Pai Tours. We are sorry to hear you were disappointed and we will review the tour structure to make changes to avoid this happening again.
