Itinerary
Meet your guide prior to your chosen tour time at 8 a.m., 11 a.m., or 2:30 p.m. (tour provider will confirm). Opt for hotel pickup for an additional cost, or make your own way to Hotel Riu Guanacaste or Riu Palace for complimentary pickups (see “Important Details” tab).
Upon reaching your starting point, climb aboard a premium ATV and make your way through the Costa Rican rain forest, looking out for howler monkeys, tropical birds, and iguanas as you go. Reach areas inaccessible to other vehicles as you continue past fences, over shallow rivers, and alongside livestock on your way to the beach.
Please note: This activity involves some risk appropriate for intermediate and advanced ATV drivers and operates regardless of weather. A minimum of two people per booking is required.

- After the activity, due the conditions of the tour, you will be wet, sweaty and muddy so we we recommend a second set of clothing to change into

- Minimum age is 17 year up to drive the ATV
- Not recommended for pregnant travelers

We did an ATV excursion about 15 minutes away from our Riu Guanacaste hotel and overall had a good experience. Our tour guide, Jason, was very kind and friendly, and he made sure everyone was comfortable on the ATVs.
That said, there were a few things that took away from the experience. Jason seemed to be distracted by his phone quite often — even while driving — which was concerning at times. We were also hoping for a more authentic, off-road ATV adventure, but the tour leaned toward a safer approach. While we understand prioritizing safety, it felt a bit tame for what we were expecting.
The ride itself was still fun, and they did take us to a cool waterfall. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to go to the beach as planned because there were apparently too many cars in the area at that time.
Overall, it was an enjoyable outing.

What a great experience! Our guide was super friendly and helpful. We got to see parts of Costa Rica I wouldn’t have seen otherwise. Even despite some pouring rain, it was so fun to ATV through the water and mud. Loved this experience and highly recommend!

It was just me and my Sister riding which was a great time. He took us thru alot of roads, water and mud. We loved it. Would've gave 5 stars if he Would've went real fast like we wanted. I told him don't treat us like girls lol. Jason was amazing❤️

ATVs were so much fun!! We had pick-up and drop off included, which made the entire experience very convenient. Our guide, Carlos, was very nice and let us all take our own pace when we needed to. Would definitely recommend, 10/10!!!

We got to see the back roads of the village. We came across a few loose cows and dogs(harmless). You will see the homes of the locals. The guide stopped so we could see the monkeys in the trees. The transportation back and forth was fun. He showed us the pecan tree, the high school, and told us where to go for shopping

The tour was good, would have been great if the guide wasn't distracted by his cell phone repeatedly throughout the time. He was very nice and we enjoyed him he was just distracted by his phone often as teens tend to do. We still had a great time and would do it again. All the staff was super nice and very accommodating. I appreciated their last minute adjustment for us.

It was a little strange when he came to the hotel in his private car which wasn’t very clean then we pulled up to his house and was greeted by his family. But the trails were great the ride was great and the guide was very polite.

The tour was awesome and our guide was great. The other people on the tour with us had many problems and caused our tour to be shorter than usual and lots of waiting around. I suggest if going on a tour to go on a private tour or only with people you know.

Went with three friends none of us had ever driven ATVs before but the ATVs were semi-automatic and pretty easy to operate. It was really fun and we stopped at two beaches to take pictures, stretch our legs, use the bathroom etc. I would recommend bringing goggles or something it had rained the night before so the dust wasn't that bad, but my sunglasses still weren't enough to stop some dirt from getting into my eyes.

Had a GREAT time!! We got to see two different types of monkeys and the beach was breathtaking. Our guide was patient and knowledgeable. I got scared riding my own ATV and he called his company to pick it up allowing me to ride with my fiancé. It was a wonderful day!!

My family and I had an excellent tour. We had stops along the way to see the different beaches grab some waters and saw many monkeys along the way. It was an extremely fast two hour tour filled with so much fun. Our guide was outstanding from picking us up at our resort, the tour, and the ride back! Highly recommend for anyone looking to see Costa Rica in a different way!

This tour was awesome. It says it is for intermediate to experienced drivers, but our tour was made up of only our group members and no one in our group had much experience with ATVs. The machines were easy to drive and get the hang of and our guide took the time to teach us how to properly operate them. The guide probably geared our tour to our experience level, but it felt easy enough for beginners with just enough rougher roads to keep it interesting and exciting. We were taken to two private beaches both with amazing tide pools full of fun water life. We were then taken to another beach with a cool restaurant where we were able to get some food and drinks. The whole thing was a lot of fun and one of my favorite things I did while in Costa Rica.

The tour was awesome, got a great mixture of off roading and pretty chill roads. Carlos was an amazing tour guide. He stopped to show us monkeys, and enjoyed covering with us. He spoke English wonderfully and always was helpful when someone was struggling. One of the best excursions I have been on.

The person leading the activity was very friendly, very informative and spoke very good English. They pick up and drop off at the hotel. With the ATVs we went to the towns, dirt roads, rivers, mud, you get to enjoy the local fruits....FUN ALL THE WAY!!!

Our tour guide Johnny, was very helpful. It was our first time using the ATVs, but he explained the equipment operation and hand-signal use thoroughly that it became very easy to use. We originally booked the beach tour, but Johnny was able to accommodate our last minute request to change to the country side/waterfall tour, when it was recommended to us by another hotel guest. Riding the ATVs up and down the mountain hills, crossing multiple creeks to get to the waterfall was amazing! The waterfall was a bit of a let down only because we saw a substantially bigger one the day before. Also, there is a swimming area just below the waterfall so don't forget your swim wear. There were a few locals that were swimming and jumping from the top of the waterfall when we got there. After the waterfall, Johnny also took us to a local farm where we chatted with the farm owners and tasted fresh coffee, lemonade, and ate fried plantains. The owners didn't charge for the refreshments, but they did have a donation box. They also gave us a tour of their farm and explained the different crops they planted. Overall, I thought this tour was great and well worth it! Thank you for a great time!

We had so much fun! We got picked up right from our hotel and luckily it was just the 2 of us on the tour. Our guide showed us how to use the ATVs and gave us the option of beach or town tour. We chose town and met a local farmer along the way who told us about his farm and gave us fresh veggies. A+

Great tour! You go into a local town where you meet your guide at his house. There, he teaches you how to use the ATV and gives you all the appropriate safety equipment. We rode through the rain forest and eventually made our way to 2 beaches. The tour guide stayed within our comfort speed and terrain. Then, he was nice enough to go with us to a local supermarker right across the street to get some coffee and snacks.
