Overview

Participate in a quintessential Scandinavian pastime—and enjoy an active way to immerse yourself in Sweden's wintry landscapes—on this small-group ice-skating tour. In the morning, head out to a frozen-over lake or other body of water in the great outdoors. After a hands-on training session, have the chance to glide over natural ice in the open air before enjoying a lunch and drinks beside an open fire.

What To Expect

Begin your half-day skating adventure by meeting your guide and group in central Stockholm. Come dressed for a day on the ice.

Get fitted for all the necessary equipment. Your guide decides your destination based on where the best ice is for skating on that day. Travel is provided via public transportation or a private bus.

Upon arrival, get an orientation and a lesson, including skating tips. Your guide is there to ensure everyone's enjoyment and safety. Gather up your courage and glide out onto the pond, river or lake; skating on a natural pond is very different than on a groomed, indoor rink. Challenge yourself to do your best and enjoy the Scandinavian winter scenery.

Afterwards, relax with a traditional outdoor lunch in the glow of a bonfire. Then, hit the ice for some more exercise working on your skills.

Transfer back to the original departure point in central Stockholm at the conclusion of your skating excursion.

  • Minimum age: 15 years old.
  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • Maximum weight: 130 kg.
  • Please advise us which EU shoe size you need.
  • Please advise us of any dietary requirements you have.
  • When you book, you will receive a list of suggestions on how to dress for the day.
  • Near public transportation
  • CHECK IN time is 15 minutes prior to tour departure. Arriving at departure time or afterwards will likely result in you missing your tour.
  • The transport to the starting point will either be by private minivan or by public transport depending on the size of the group and the ice/weather conditions.
  • This tour operates in all weathers unless the guide deems it unsafe.
  • This tour requires a minimum of 2 participants to operate, should this minimum not be reached you will be offered an alternative date or a full refund.
  • Not recommended for travelers with back problems
  • Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level
  • This tour/activity will have a maximum of 8 travelers

Hands down- most fun experience! The guides were extremely helpful, very friendly, the scenery was BEAUTIFUL, the weather was less than cooperative but the guides made the best of it, including taking us on a side hike and teaching a little about the nature aspects of Sweden. 100/10 would absolutely do it again. I was nervous that I was too uncoordinated, too heavy, too out of shape, and the guides took every fear away!

Hands down- most fun experience! The guides were extremely helpful, very friendly, the scenery was BEAUTIFUL, the weather was less than cooperative but the guides made the best of it, including taking us on a side hike and teaching a little about the nature aspects of Sweden. 100/10 would absolutely do it again. I was nervous that I was too uncoordinated, too heavy, too out of shape, and the guides took every fear away!

Johan was an exceptional guide: Knowledgable; kind; and patient. It was challenging to gain comfort with Nordic skates, but the joy of sailing across a frozen lake was worth the effort. I fell in love with Sweden.

We had an awesome day trying lake skating for the first time. The whole trip was so easy from start to finish. It was relaxed and catered for all individuals in the group. Our guide Peter made sure we were all equipped with safety gear and knew how to use it but reassured us of the safety of the areas we were going to. Peter was fantastic and was very willing to help and teach aswell as answering lots of skating/ice related questions from the group. Lunch was also delicious! Highly recommend this trip to anyone wanting to try this for the first time.
