Overview

See St. Kitts as you’ve never before during this one-of-a-kind train trek. Journey in air-conditioned comfort from downtown Basseterre to Wingfield Estate, where you’ll explore the old Estate ruins. From there, travel to LA Vallee, where the St. Kitts Scenic Railway departs. Continue along Newton Ground to the town of Cayon, while sipping on unlimited drinks. I booked this specific tour on Viator instead of booking directly with the train company so I could make a stop at Wingfield estate and we did not stop there... instead we went to a very uninteresting, recently-built church where we stayed 12 minutes, but everybody came back on the bus even quicker. On top of that, there was quite a lot of waiting involved, in Port Zante, on the bus, and at the train station. The train ride was fun, the views were great and the complimentary drinks helped everybody onboard enjoy even more!

Location: Exit the port area and walk straight ahead - look for a red V&J tour sign - these are the people you want :). Lots of back and forth for us until we located the proper location to meet the tour group. Driver Dujan knew the area well, sharing landmarks and conversation during the drive. We also saw the Caribbean/Atlantic plates - beautiful~! Train ride was lots of jiggling - double decker car with lots of movement. If you want to hear discussion & landmarks, sit near a speaker as while train is in motion very difficult to hear. Drinks served were delicious.

St. Kitts Scenic Train Experience - VERY BAD ,Falsely advertised

I would like to request a full refund for this tour. Tour was booked and clearly stated in English language . When we arrived at the train station we were told that the tour is in German, which we don't understand. Then they suggested to give us one of those headphones . We had no choice but to take it. After changing 2-3 pairs of headphones we gave up and just looked at the scenery .Headphone never worked. German language was on loudspeaker. Your attention to this matter and immediate refund as well as some credit as well as compensation for inconvenience and waste of time this false advertisement . We had completely wasted a day of our vacation. In addition person responsible for distribution of headphones was rude and totally not interested to listen to what I had to say. To make situation worse when we arrived to the change from train to bus nobody knew what to do with us and we had to change 3 buses until finally one driver figured that we are not from a cruise ship and said that he will take us to Marriot back at $15 . We had no choice then to agree to that too. I would appreciate your immediate response and actions. Thank you

It was fun to see the island from a train and hear about the history while enjoying local beverages. The company owner was very accommodating and helpful. Be sure to confirm a hotel pick up after booking if you are not arriving with a cruise ship. I would book other tours with this operator.

Wacky Train Ride / But Fun

It's quite the ride ! Think Train & Disney Ride had a baby. Our Dujan who drove us to & from Train was AWESOME! Very informative and helped my handicap husband. The Train ride was beautiful and some of the best Pins Colodas ever. The ladies on the Train so warm and inviting. Glad we booked thru Viator. They never disappoint !!

The train ride was exciting be prepared to jerked around a bit especially if you are in the last car. Very scenic route with beautiful mountains near and far. Very good commentary also. Fun trip. Particular thanks for Dujon our bus driver who was so attentive and helpful. Was-worth the trip.

Not that exciting unless you just want unlimited drinks. Countryside is mostly very poor. This train ride just takes advantage of existing tracks. Ride to nowhere

Interesting but crammed train

The guide we had was very good but the train itself was slightly disappointing as it was too full with people crammed together on benches which meant you could not turn around to see the sights as the seats face inwards. The hostesses on the train were excellent and you could drink as much as you wanted so we ended up having a good time anyway.

It wasn't the best experience,we got picked up by our tour guide, who was very informative but the actual train ride wasn't the best way to see St Kitts. The train doesn't stop to view anything so over an hour sitting with not much to see. Friends went on the bus tours which seemed better to see St kitts. The train in my opinion was over priced and not the best value for money.

Wonderful time with the train (.endless free drinks.) and tour guide. The ship was late getting in and he reconfigured the tour and gave us options including a refund and made the experience great. We saw the whole island it see.ed and the Amazing Grace Church. We had time fir downtown shopping too.

The tour and the tour operator was on time, experienced, friendly and very knowledgeable. On the train part of the tour Seeing the beautiful island of St. Kitts and learning their heritage and interesting facts will make you fall in love with this incredible island.

Great little jaunt around the island, very nice way to see the scenery and history with a much better view than from a vehicle. Nice touch with the bar but i'll have to deduct one star due to the lack of a beer being offered. Speakers on the train were extremely clear and the dictation of the guide made it a pleasure to listen.

OK train trek; bad transport

This tour was fulfilled by VJ Private Tours. The van picking everyone up was dirty and did not have strong enough air conditioning for the nine people being transported. The people in the very back were roasting. Also, not all seats had seat belts. The train was OK. There were complimentary drinks provided the whole time, which was great. There were some good views of the mountains, ocean, etc. However, if you weren't on the upper level of the train car, a lot of the views were obscured by the tall brush growing by the train tracks. Overall this activity is best suited to older travelers who want a snoozy train ride.

Great train ride

The train is the most unusual one this train buff has ever traveled on. It is two stories but unlike two story commuter trains the upper deck is open— it is covered but open on the sides for sightseeing. Also rum punches are served from the bar on the top deck. A great experience!!

Fun train ride

Great fun seeing the coast of St Kitts. Party lime atmosphere, music, dancers and unlimited frozen drinks, water and anything rum. Everyone so friendly. You train one way and come back in air conditioned shuttles and hear more about the island.
