Alexia and the captain, Marco, were friendly, informative, and made this trip so much fun! They took us straight to the Blue Grotto first thing to avoid the crowds that come later. Then, we were given 3 hours in Capri to do whatever one wanted to do without the pressure of a directed tour. Everyone on the boat did whatever they wanted to do. We decided to head to Anacapri by taxi to ride the chair lift (which was fantastic and had incredible views of the island), and then we took a taxi to Capri and had lunch and walked around some. Each ride was short. Overall, it was just enough time. After we met back at the dock, they took us around the back of the island and we circled the whole island before heading back. First, we stopped at a green grotto. We then stopped at a white grotto. We later stopped at a beautiful swimming spot and many of us jumped in and swam for a bit. Some on our boat didn’t know to bring bathing suits but we had worn ours. We then went past the houses and yachts on the luxurious back side of the island, and finally to the famous Faraglioni rock formations. It all was so beautiful. I can’t say enough about how nice Alexia and Marco were. A fantastic experience! Bring cash because you will want to tip them for sure!

Great captain and tour...

Alyssa_S, Sep 2026
Great captain and tour guide! The boat was very nice and spacious. Unfortunately the blue grotto was closed due to the tides, but they did a wonderful job of touring us around Capri on the boat and letting us off to swim. They even got off the boat with us to show everyone where public transportation was once we got to Capri. We would highly recommend the chairlift in Anacapri! The line was long, but the views from the lift and at the top were incredible! Then we had just enough time for a quick lunch in Capri and then headed back down to the marina. The boat ride back was beautiful!

Beware of constant cancellations and bait and switch!!

LeAnne_N, Sep 2026
We had to book this tour twice. The first time, we booked for Tuesday, and it was canceled due to lack of minimum participants. We rebooked for Thursday, and again it was canceled due to lack of participants. So they said they could reschedule us for Wednesday on an “upgraded” deluxe tour for small group, hydrofoil to Capri, private driver, 1.5 hr around the island. Though it wasn’t the same as what we were looking forward to, we said yes because it seemed like the only option that wouldn’t be canceled. We lost a lot of money on making changes for ferry rides and car rentals to be able to go last minute on this Wednesday. The group ended up being a total of 7, so without us they would have been short the minimum 6 and maybe would have canceled on the others too. So- logistics wise, this has been a terrible experience. But now let’s talk about the tour- the original experience was supposed to be “first to blue grotto” with time relaxing on a small semi private boat and seeing sites and swimming with prosecco and fruit and them 4 hours free time on land. They never mentioned the blue grotto was closed, by the way. It was all week and they knew it. What we got was what marketed as a “hydrofoil” but really was the public ferry with hundreds of other people, not even close to a semiprivate experience. Then you get on a small boat to go around the island (this part was finally nice, but 1.5 hours only). What they did not mention is that when we arrived in Capri we had to stand around and wait 40 minute foe the rest of the group to arrive, so wasting 40 minutes of our short day. Them instead of getting 4 hours of free time on land, we got a rushed 2 hours on Anacapri and 1 hour in Capri, before we had to get back in line for the ferry because you have to be back 45 minutes early to board the public ferry. (something I wouldn’t expect with a small private boat). Your “private driver” is basically a taxi bus- they tell you to take all your stuff every time bc you might get a different bus ride to next destination. We also had a guide, he escorted us from one place to the next, and gave some local information, and then let us go on free time. He was fine, but not necessary for getting us on the ferry or from one transport to another. Overall, I’m glad we didn’t pay full price for their deluxe version. I’m actually upset we paid Mondo anything at all and didn’t just cancel and self book. Don’t fall for their “upgrades” and ABSOLUTELY do not book this unless you can be ultra flexible and expect constant cancellations (even in high season).

Response from Host, Sep 2026

Dear LeAnne, Thank you for sharing your experience. We are sorry that you came away disappointed. However, because “bait and switch” is a serious characterization and does not reflect what occurred, we believe future travelers deserve a clear explanation. You booked our Capri First to Blue Grotto Semi-Private Boat Tour for €140 per person. As clearly disclosed, this shared experience requires a minimum of 6 participants. When that minimum was not reached, we could have cancelled and fully refunded your booking. Instead, we chose to save your day in Capri. We offered you our Capri Deluxe experience, normally sold on Viator for €250 per person, at no additional charge—a complimentary upgrade worth €220 for the two of you. You accepted this alternative. The difference between the experiences is important. The original €140 tour is primarily a sea experience, followed by approximately four hours of independent free time ashore, with island transportation and personal expenses specifically excluded. Capri Deluxe is designed to experience Capri by sea AND by land. In addition to the boat experience around Capri’s spectacular coastline, grottos and Faraglioni, you received an English-speaking guide throughout the day and organized transportation around the island, allowing you to discover Capri, Anacapri and many of the island’s highlights. Regarding the Blue Grotto, its opening is outside Mondo Guide’s control and depends on sea and operating conditions, which is precisely why access is stated as weather/conditions permitting. Most importantly, had your original tour operated that day, the Blue Grotto would still have been closed. You would have experienced Capri by boat and then explored the island independently, arranging and paying for your own transportation ashore. With Capri Deluxe, you instead received the additional land experience, professional guide and organized transportation without paying a single euro more. Regarding the comment that the advertised “hydrofoil” was actually a “public ferry,” a hydrofoil is a high-speed passenger ferry. Our listing includes round-trip transportation by hydrofoil; it never advertises a private or semi-private hydrofoil. The boat experience around Capri is a separate component. We completely respect that you may personally have preferred the format of your original tour. But personal preference and “bait and switch” are two very different things. There was no cheaper substitution and no request for additional payment. Quite the opposite: we provided a substantially higher-priced alternative at our own expense so that you could still experience Capri. And perhaps that is the most important message for future travelers: Cancelling would have been easy. Finding a solution was harder. We chose the harder option because taking care of our guests matters to us. We cannot control the sea, the Blue Grotto or every circumstance of travel. What we can control is how we respond when circumstances change. We are sorry our effort was not perceived in that spirit, but we would make exactly the same effort for our next guest tomorrow. That is our idea of hospitality. Warm regards, Mondo Guide www.mondoguide.com +39 331 708 0962

It was a great day on the water and on the island of Capri. Damiano and Marco were perfect guides! I would definitely recommend this tour with this crew!

The Perfect Boat Day to Capri with Friendly Competent Captain and Guide on a very nice boat.

Mary_H, Jun 2026
We had such a great day! Alexis and Capt. Frankie were absolutely fabulous. The boat was so clean and beautiful. We were to blue grotto early and beat the crowds so we got right in. The guide who took us until the grotto was also great and had a wonderful singing voice. Haha. We had plenty of time to explore capri/anacapri on our own but were given plenty of direction on how to see and do the things we wanted to by Alexis and Capt Frankie. They even put us in the taxi and got us headed in the right direction. We wanted to do the chairlift to the top of the mountain. After our time on capri, we stopped for a swim in the sea and just enjoy the surroundings. It really was a perfect day. Highly highly recommend this tour.

Fantastic Francesco & Alessia

Sean, May 2026
Francesco and Alessia were fantastic. Two good characters with great knowledge of Capri and the surrounding coastline. It was a smooth ride their and back with plenty of time to explore Capri with a 4 hour stop there. I can't fault the trip, I got a tiny bit wet 🤏🏼sitting in the splash zone seat at the back of the boat but it was a part of the experience and you are on a boat in the ocean , you have to expect to get a little wet. 10/10 trip . The captain and crew completely to thank for that! 🛥️

Roberto was our captain and made it a great day! The small group was nice and we got a lot of time on Capri as well as on the water surrounding it. It was such a relaxing and beautiful day.

The boat captain Damien was a very good boat driver and very nice. Told us good things to do in Capri and Ana Capri. The chair lift was our highlight. We waited an hour and a half to go through Blue Grotto which was a five min paddle boat ride. All in all a good tour
