Overview

Enjoy a peaceful yet invigorating end to the day with a two-hour evening kayaking tour from Paquera. After a safety briefing, take to the water in your kayak and watch the sky turn orange and pink as the sun sets. Once it’s dark, paddle by the light of the moon or, if it’s cloudy, you may be able to see the magnificent bioluminescence in the water.

From the Paquera ferry landing continue 1,5km. You'll pass several small BAHIA RICA signs. Park along the road after the signs with our company name. Then walk the last 200 meters along a small trail, leading to the beach where we launch the kayaks.

Unique experience - “must do” when in the area

We were lucky to get a “private” tour with Jose as the two groups were split along “family” lines this evening. We had very calm waters and good weather without rain (at our locations), but were able to see a partial rainbow, lightning and thunder in the distance, fishing bats, stingrays, jumping fish, a pufferfish, howler monkeys and - most impressive - very strong bioluminescence with every paddle stroke and even around our feet when walking on the sand. Jose is a very calm and friendly guide and adapts the speed to your paddling skills. He answered many questions and gave further explanations about the past developments in this area. We would say such a night paddling tour is a “must do” if you have the time. We chose to not swim in the dark, but -according to Jose - other participants loved the experience of “glowing in the water”.

Kajaktocht

Door een fout bij Viator konden we deze tour helaas niet doen. Echter de dag vooraf contact gehad in de chat van Viator om de kajaktocht bij zonsondergang te boeken, deze tour werd 3x bevestigd en zo ook in onze mail. Bij aankomst bleek deze tour niet door te gaan omdat er geen volle maan was. We konden wel mee met de bioluminescence tour nadat we 1,5u gewacht hadden. Met andere verwachtingen de kajak ingestapt, de tour viel helaas tegen. Wel wat bioluminescence gezien in het wit. Door het kunstlicht dat vanaf het land het water opschijnt, is het slechter te zien. Vrij korte kajaktocht. Enthousiaste en vriendelijke gids!!

We are very sorry we could not offer you the tour that you wanted to do the night you where here - as we can only do those tours around full moon. We were happy that you did joined the other variation of night kayak tour that we did offer that night, but of course it is sad to read in the review here that it was not the kind of experience that you liked. It was very unfortunate with the errors in the booking and information through Viator. I just want let you know that we did get the problem in the booking application sorted out right away.
