The Funk Zone (a business, arts, and culture district located just moments from the beach) is one of Santa Barbara’s hippest and most distinctive neighborhoods—and this small-group walking tour makes it easy to discover its highlights. We had a lovely stroll through the Funk Zone with Melissa informing us of Santa Barbara’s interesting history and highlighting the beautiful murals and quaint shops. The wonderful experience was topped off with wine and ice cream tasting!

Unexpected surprises in the Funk Zone

This tour really gave us a flavor of the Funk Zone. Melissa was so knowledgeable about the area and its history. We saw a lot of the area's art and even happened upon a local artist who shared some of his work and insights with us. He even agreed to a picture (and autograph!)! It was so unexpected and wonderful! The wineries she took us to were great--I didn't know how much I liked the wines from Santa Barbara. The people at the wineries were friendly and interesting to chat with and Melissa struck the perfect balance between checking in on us and letting us talk privately while we were enjoying our wine. It could have been the wine, but I wanted to hug her when we left!

Melissa was marvelous and the wineries the best. I would have liked to walk more through the Funk Zone seeing galleries from the outside and less time in the wine venues or a longer tour so we could do it all.

We really enjoyed the tour guide-Liz. She seemed really knowledgeable, personable, and was very interesting. We loved the first place that we stopped for wine and the choices given. Jorde was very informative about the different choices. The second stop had a wonderful view and the man was knowledgeable about the area. We didn't like the wines as much there. I would've like to see more of the area but I guess there is only so much you can do in that time frame.

This tour is a Santa Barbara must! Great way to learn about the rich history surrounding the Funk Zone while getting to taste the local wine and peek into the thriving local entrepreneur spirit. 10/10
