Had a great time. Driver and tour guide were both bilingual and very personable. Driver made it a point to keep the van tidy - van itself was modern and in very good condition. Every stop had excellent service. I had forgotten my phone in the van after drop off and they returned it quickly. As the locals say, pura vida.

It’s an activity well worth the money with an outstanding guide like Hayro! Hayro’s vast knowledge of all locations visited was truly impressive. His pride in his country and being able to so eloquently share this with tourists make him a perfect travel guide. The volcanoes were shrouded in fog at the time of visit but the visit at Lancaster and the lunch at Lake Cachi more than made up for the weather situation around the volcanoes. We can highly recommend
this day trip.

This tour was very well organized overall and packed a lot into a single day. Transportation logistics ran smoothly, lunch had a beautiful view, and the guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and informative throughout the experience. Lankester Gardens was especially beautiful and ended up being my favorite stop of the day.
That said, there were a few things that made the experience feel less impressive than expected. I was the first passenger picked up, so the morning started extremely early and included a long period of collecting other travelers before the tour fully began.
The tour is marketed as a “4-in-1” experience, but one of the stops is simply the restaurant where lunch takes place, so in practice it felt more like three actual sightseeing destinations. The lunch location itself was beautiful and enjoyable, but I think the itinerary description could set expectations more clearly.
Visitors should also know that the Irazú volcano craters have been dry since 2019, despite some promotional photos giving the impression of blue crater lakes. Additionally, weather conditions meant there was almost no visibility at the volcano that day — not the guide’s fault, of course, but still something future travelers should consider.
Because of the long driving times, each stop felt relatively short. While the locations were nice, most did not feel especially unique compared to other mountain and nature destinations in Latin America, with Lankester being the exception for me.
Overall, it was a pleasant and efficient way to see several places in one day, but I think expectations should be set more accurately regarding timing, visibility, and the overall experience.

This tour is great if you want to see a variety of places in one day. The lunch was a highlight — probably the best meal I had during my 7-day stay in Costa Rica. I also appreciated that the guide added an extra stop at the Cartago ruins when I asked. Highly recommended.

Our guide and driver (Nancy and Marvin) were wonderful and attentive. The mountainside is breathtaking and we visited and learned a lot about Central Costa Rica.
One thing that I would like to advise, is that you need to add the travel time to the excursion time: this can take between 2-4 hours depending on traffic. It was quite worth it!

A great full day tour to some highlights outside of San Jose. We went to Irazu Volcano, but didn't spend much time due to the weather. We saw a few scenic vistas and then visited the Basilica which was beautiful. Then a delicious lunch and the Ruins of Ujarras!

The tour guide Fernando was great and took the time to explain. However, since it was so foggy, we could not see the volcano. I was informed that the best months to come to Costa Rica are February and March. They said even still May and June.

Regarding the weather at Irazú Volcano, you’re absolutely right. Visibility can be affected by fog, especially outside the peak dry months. February and March generally offer the clearest conditions, while May and June can still be good but are more variable due to changing weather patterns.

Our guide Yurleni was muy tuanes (super cool)! She drove really well, brought us to some cool spots in Cartago, Volcán Irazú (was clear, saw birds and a coyote), the Orosi valley (beautiful view and farms along the road), the Ujarrás ruins (super beautiful flowers, spider plant tree and parrots). Lunch at cafetal overlooking the lake was beautiful.

Highly recommend this tour. Better than expected. Was initially told we wouldn't be able to see the Ujarrás Ruins, but that wasn't the case. So glad we were able. Also, when we first got to the volcano, it was foggy. Tour guide allowed us to stay a little longer, after the skies cleared. Really appreciated our tour guide.

We had Hayro as our tour guide. We highly recommend him! He was extremely knowledgeable and an excellent driver. His van was very clean and well kept. We learned a lot about the culture of Costa Rica, along with its flora and fauna. We got lucky and got to see Irazu 's volcanic crater before the clouds came in and the restaurant overlooking a lake was absolutely incredible both in food quality and location.

Our tour guide Lenny was amazing! We were fortunate enough to have a private tour with her which made our experience that much better. She was very friendly, knowledgeable, and kind. There was never a dull moment she made sure to make us feel welcomed throughout the tour. During our lunch she let us have privacy to ensure my Wife and I had a romantic lunch at a very scenic location.
Highly recommend this tour to anybody who wants to see a lot of what Costa Rica has to offer.

Well organised excursion with a guide (Max) who was very knowledgeable about the area and flaura and fauna. Unfortunately we couldn’t not visit the ruins but they offered us entry to Lankester Botanical Gardens which was lovely.
Unfortunately the description on Viator shows that breakfast is included but the guide said that in 20 years he has never seen this offered, so come prepared and not hungry. The lunch spot had Great Lake views but food was very average.

We thought this was a great mix of things to see and do and Orosi was beautiful shame we didn't spend a little more time there. For me the trip could've started a little later as the lunch stop which was amazing food was at 11am.
