Perhaps one of the more underrated tours you can take, run by a local company out of Salta. A really personal experience. In the small group of 15 or fewer people, you really experience the landscape and culture as if you were driving yourself, listening to an audiobook. Our tour guide Eduardo was extremely knowledgeable and certainly had a good answer for any and all questions you have. His English was excellent, and gave the tour in both English and Spanish. Sometimes tour guides will slowly move towards one language during the tour but he treated the whole group equally the entire time.
Such a spectacular drive, gorgeous scenery, a real taste of the local culture. The wine tour and tasting was good, but what really made the tour special were all the little experiences we had along the way.

Unless you speak Spanish do not select this tour. Not all of the tour will be in something other than Spanish. Recommend using another app or service vice Viator.

It was a lovely day. The tour was rather lengthy, a total of 12 hours. We enjoyed the many scenic stops and viewpoints in the canyon. However, the wine tasting lacked an English-speaking guide, only offering Spanish, which was somewhat frustrating as we couldn't understand anything. It was a great value for the price. We would recommend it to friends and family.

Amazing experience! Best tour we had in Salta, highly recommended! Driver Alexandra and guide Cezar were the best! The winery had delicious wine, and although the tour in winery was in Spanish, Cezar immediately stepped in and translated everything. There were so many beautiful breathtaking stops on the way to Cafayate, honestly the long road because of that was not tiring at all and very enjoyable. So worth the money! Bus was comfortable, for max 15 people, with A/C

Very good experience. Punctual and accurate pick up. Good driver and tour guide! Highly recommended.

The trip to quebrada las conchas was great, nice spot.
Regarding the "wine" , it would be great if the tour propose an option with good quality wine for an additional price it would make the trip better

Fernando was an amazing guide with his knowledge of the physical geography of the rock formations in the gorge. Learnt so much from him! He was also a very safe driver.

Pros:
- Scenic drive through the valley
- Informative tour guide with good English translation
- 1️⃣ bathroom stop (same location both ways)
Cons:
- Wine experience was basic (only two mediocre wines) with rushed winery tour
- Driver exceeded speed limits, causing motion sickness for some passengers
- Limited time in Cafayate (2 hours) only enough for lunch, no town exploration
Important Note: Most wineries close for vacation from late December to early January.
Verdict: Not recommended. Consider staying in Cafayate instead of taking this day trip for a better experience.
Tip: If you do take this tour, be aware that restaurant service in Cafayate takes around 2 hours, which will use up all your free time in town.

The price Is very good but the tour can be dome better. Instrad of shopping almost 2 hours in Cafayate (too mucho) there are many great points on the road where we could have stopped for a break.
Plus the microphone wasn't working very well and some times It was hard to understand the guide.

Fantastic daytrip, I would highly recommend! Milagros was a fantastic guide! She was so knowledgeable, and gave us the info in such a fun way. Super friendly, and helpful with everyone, she made sure we had a great time! Walters was a great driver, I've had a few tours where I was hanging on for dear life, but Walter was a super driver.
The landscapes are unreal, such a beautiful road. It is a lot of time in the van, but Milly kept us entertained and the views were undoubtedly worth it!

Great scenery in the Lerma Valley. Staff were excellent, always making sure we were first to bathrooms and sights to assure a better experience. The group was fun. I was a little disappointed but not surprised when we went to a super touristy winery ( loaded with buses) and this was a English tour but the winery only spoke Spanish, so I wasn’t able to hear about their methods etc. I would enjoy a more personal not touristy winery, but that’s just a suggestion. Long day, but beautiful scenery.

It was a great day to see the beautiful valley and visit a small town. The wine tour was only in Spanish, and as I don’t understand Spanish it was not very interesting.

A good way to see a lot of scenery without having to do all the driving. Be warned, it’s ALOT of time in the road, but the views are amazing. We made lots of stops along the way to take pictures. The bus itself was very cramped. Very good value for money.

Very well organized experience (Tiamar Tour Agency), the minivan is comfortable and the guide (Fernando) seems to be very well prepared. He provided us very detailed information connected with a good storytelling, good humor and politeness. He tried to organized the tour avoiding the others big tour groups where in many stops we could visit less crowded places.
It’s a very long trip but with many stops where we could see how beautiful and amazing are the “Quebrada de las conchas” route.
The wine experience in Cafayate city it’s a skip in our opinion. The city is cute but don’t offer many things to see and do. And the visit at the Bodega isn’t that interesting. Maybe the time there can be reduced and visit other natural attractions in the zone instead.

FANTASTIC trip!! Our guide, Monica, was knowledgeable, friendly, funny, and had fantastic information about the region. Sergio, our driver, had a whole playlist to accompany the monuments we visited! Gorgeous scenery, and great winery. Highly recommended.

Our tour guide Maru(hope I write it right) was excellent. She spoke Spanish and English very well.
She clearly enjoys her job and she explained things very well.
The only thing that was not that great was the wine tour. They were cleaning stuff so certain parts of the winery were not open. Also, when we asked to try a different wine and we would pay extra, they declined. (It was not a top notch wine, just their Rose, which can be skipped)!
All in all the tour was great! Highly recommended it.

Monica was a great guide! She was very personable and kind and told us tons of very interesting information along the way. If anything, I think she may have talked a bit *too* much, haha. There were times during the day when most people wanted to sleep, and she continued talking although most guests were trying to sleep.
The pickup process seemed to be very orderly from what I saw - on group bus tours, I’ve often had this part of the day be a disaster. The bus for our excursion was quite small - it held 20 people (including the driver and the guide), and EVERY SINGLE SEAT was occupied, even though I went on this tour in the off season. The bus was more than tight, it was at times downright uncomfortable with no one having any room to spread out.
The tour was overall very good - the places you see on the tour (Garganta del Diablo, el Anfiteatro, etc.) are impressive and very much worth seeing. My favorites were the first stop at Quebrada de las Conchas and the stop at Mirador Tres Cruces - the scenery at that stop was breathtaking.
Cafayate is a nice town to visit; I enjoyed the ~2 hours of free time we had there. On my tour, Monica told us (very honestly) that the winery included in our tour was sort of meh, not terribly impressive, and that they only offer 2 wines for tasting. She ended up giving my group the option to go to a different winery that would cost us each around 1000 ARS, which the entire group eagerly accepted. That winery (Nanni) was fantastic - we got to taste 5 great wines for 1400 ARS (or they offered a lower cost option as well). In the past, I have not been a fan of torrontés wine, but I liked the one at Nanni so much that I bought a bottle, instead of purchasing a Malbec or another red that I usually prefer. During the free time, I also visited and did a tasting at a second winery, El Tránsito, which was also quite good (4 wines in the tasting for 1000 ARS). The restaurant Monica recommended for lunch was no frills but good and fast, and reasonably priced. I loved the fact that they stopped at all many places for us to take photos - that was fantastic. We probably made 8-9 stops during the day.
Aside from the bus, the only part of the day that really annoyed me is that we went way out of our way on the return trip to take 2 passengers to the Salta airport. This delayed our return to town by at least 30-40 minutes. I don’t know how these passengers arranged this airport drop off, but I found it unprofessional for a tour company to do this and inconvenience 18 other people.
Overall - the tour and guide were great, the bus was packed and uncomfortable. This tour is worth what they ask for it, but I would not pay any more than this, as you could otherwise rent a car and do the trip on your own much more comfortably, and on your own schedule.

I booked a tour in english but the entire tour around the vineyard was in spanish only.
The guide was lovely and spoke fine english. But kinda disappointed about the vineyard experience.
The bus was fine. The amount of breaks was fine as well.

Nice tour including both landscape-stops and village-stop(s). The guide was very friendly and explained everything in both Spanish and English.

Very good tour, well planned. We saw awesome mars like landscapes, stopped at a small bodega which was not as touristy as the others. Big thanks to awesome tour guide Ramiro!

I would recommend this tour, very informative tour which great sights to explore and see. The winery visit was also great!
Brian_F, Dec 2021
Very beautiful and interesting landscape and vistas. Very pleasant trip. Cafayate is a beautiful little town with colonial style buildings in the city center. The central park was undergoing repairs. A wide variety of artesinal works are available for purchase.
DONALD_Z, Dec 2019
The tour itinerary stated we would go to a tobacco farm, we did not.
The vineyard was a bit underwhelming.
We were the last to be picked up and I decided if I ended up having to sit with the wheel hub cramping my legs, I would just not go. The entire row of back seats were open so I decided to go. The back was a bit bumpy, but as luck would have it, some new passengers were put on the bus on the way back, and I ended up in the wheel well seat and the arm rest was also not functional.
I cancelled the trip the future trip that I had booked and instead rented a car and was much happier and more comfortable.

It was wonderful! the tourist guide was very pleasant and knowledgeable of the tour. We learned a lot !
we really enjoyed it.

We liked the tour and especially Carolina. She is very kind and knows a lot! Like other people mention, you do drive a lot so if sitting in a car for hours isn´t your cup of tea.. we wouldn´t recommend this tour. However the distance in Salta is big so there is not much you can do about it. The only thing we didn´t like was that we had to drive salta city voor 1h30 min to pick people up. We passed the square at our hotel 4 times.. we could have slept for an hour more. But the views are really amazing and you do get a lot for your money. ps. The wine tasting contains 1 glass of wine so it´s good to know that.

Great trip with professional guide who spoke very good English. He also had interesting stories regarding the places, landscapes, history etc. We only visited one winery in Cafayate and the visit was quite quick. I would have appreciated visiting one more winery. We did not even tasted the Torrontes wine. A lot of time spent sitting in the car. However, the trip was worth it. Landscapes were really impressive and we made several stops for photographing them.

The trip was good, but not breathtaking. It felt like we spent more time driving that anything else. The wine tasting was good, it was a highlight of the tour.

This is an excellent tour, where you get to see magnificent scenery.
The price is good as well. The guide was excellent and spoke excellent English.
The stops are excellent and you have plenty of free time at them. Cafayate was a lovely little town and you have enough time to look around at your leisure. the visit to the winery was a bonus as well. The wine was excellent!

My plan in heading north to the Salta region was to see some of the spectacular scenery there and this was a great way to do it. I was picked up at my hotel and we were treated to a bilingual tour of the Quebrada de Cafayate, to a beautiful winery and wine-tasting on the outskirts of Cafayate, and then to lunch and time to wander in Cafayate itself. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the geology and even treated us to an impromptu song in the appropriately named Anfiteatro formation. The wine tour and tasting were also great--both informative and useful in understanding how the Salta region gets its particular terroir. Cafayate itself is a lovely colonial town with a huge central square bordered by shops and restaurants. By day's end we were all quiet and tired and happy from the day's tour.
