A lovely day in Rhodes!

Lorraine_S, Mar 2026
A really worthwhile tour. We booked the tour from the UK a few weeks before the cruise. The bus picked us up from the cruise port and from the moment the guide arrived it was a really good day. Very informative, time in Lindos to walk the village and have some refreshments or walk up to the Acropolis. A walking tour of the medieval town of Rhodes when we returned was again really interesting and easy.

Great guide and overall a positive experience

Alyssia_K, Nov 2025
Good experience with an entertaining guide. The official meet-up details (time, location, bus #, etc.) were confirmed the day before by email and WhatsApp, and we were told to book our Acropolis of Lindos tickets on the official online website. We were picked up right at the cruise port in a coach bus with all the other buses for the official cruise excursions. Our first stop was the pottery and olive oil demonstration, which was about halfway towards Lindos. Our guide explained the local history and culture along the way while also pointing out various places and answering all questions. The pottery/olive oil stop wasn't too long, provided a short shopping opportunity, and a bathroom break. The scenery towards Lindos was gorgeous. Once in Lindos, our guide brought us to the main square, gave directions and explained when and how to return to the bus at the specific time. We were unlucky because it started to downpour for 40 minutes as soon as we arrived; the narrow streets became like mini rivers and our guide strongly recommended against going up to the Acropolis in these conditions and then disappeared. I ended up going up on my own once the sun came out, but I didn't get the expected guided tour and was rushing to make it back to the bus on time. No one else on our tour went up, and I don't know if the operator refunded them for having pre-purchased tickets to the Acropolis. Guided or not, the visit up to the Acropolis of Lindos is a must, and the walk up was way easier than I expected. Rain couldn't have been predicted either, since it was literally only raining in Lindos while Rhodes was dry. We stopped for a short photo stop over Lindos and then continued back to Rhodes. We got a short, guided walking tour of Rhodes with earpieces and then were given the option to explore on our own or go to a wine tasting, and then grab the bus back at a dedicated time or walk back to the cruise ship on our own (only 10 minutes away). The guided walking tour was ok, but was mainly just a short walk towards the wine tasting location with a bit of commentary. Overall, 4.5 stars. Definitely a great way to get to Lindos in a short time with a good cultural lesson.

Rhodes, Lindos & Medieval City tour.

mbowen340, Oct 2025
This was a full day tour of Rhodes including Lindos & Medieval City. Our tour was on 10/08 /25 at 9:30 a.m. It was about a 2 hour drive to get to Lindos. There was a very large crowd of tourist this day. There was a castle on top of the mountain which was our objective to see. We did not know that there was about 900 steps to reach the top to see the castle. After we climbed the first 300 steps, we ran out of gas (ages 74 & 77). If you are young or in very good shape, you can make it to the top. If your our age, forget it. We all were supposed to meet in the town square but we never did see our tour group come down from the castle. We caught a shuttle bus back to the parking lot where our tour bus was waiting. I do not think the climb to the top was worth it. As for the Medieval City, it is located very near the port where the ships dock. Take your time exploring this fortress rather than taking the packaged tour. All in all, the tour was nice but again 900 steps is an obstacle if you are not in good shape. Michael & Phyllis.

Great tour!

Mary_K, Oct 2025
Fantastic tour. Guide was wonderful, very knowledgeable, entertaining and easy to understand. Even though it was a very large group, we moved quickly and by the time we got to the wine tasting, we were a small group which made the experience even better.

Not enough time in Lindos.

Matthew_H, Oct 2025
The tour guide was friendly and very knowledgeable. However, the bus ride from Rhodes to Lindos was quite long, and the stop in Lindos lasted only about an hour—far too short. At least two hours should be scheduled so visitors can have a proper meal and enjoy the surroundings. We managed to find a café on the beach, but had to rush through lunch because the steep, crowded walk back to the bus at the top of the hill took more time than expected. The Medieval City tour, on the other hand, was excellent. In hindsight, I would have taken a taxi to Lindos and back, and explored the Medieval City on my own instead of joining the guided tour.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Thank you for your kind words about our guide! The distance between Rhodes and Lindos is about an hour’s drive — and since we don’t use helicopters (yet!), we stick to the scenic road, which offers excellent views and gives our guides more time to share the amazing stories of this island. Those who visit the Acropolis (an optional activity) have about one hour left in Lindos, which isn’t quite enough for a relaxed sit-down lunch. Guests who skip the climb, however, enjoy about two hours of free time — perfect for a leisurely meal and some people-watching in the village. If you’d taken a taxi, you could have explored on your own — but you would’ve missed the guidance of a certified expert, skipped the wine tasting, and still paid about the same price just for the ride! The choice is always yours… but personally, I’d think twice. 😉 Safe travels!

Rhodes

Rodger_G, Oct 2025
I think it’s informative. Going to the pottery shop was ok. The wine tasting not so much. . Going to Lindos was ok but if you didn’t want to walk the steps of the Acropolis it was just more shopping time.

A Perfect Day Exploring Rhodes

Lexanne_L, Oct 2025
My husband and I did a full-day tour of Rhodes and loved it. Our guide was friendly and really knew the history of the island. We started at a local pottery workshop, saw some beautiful handmade pieces, and sampled olive oils and honey. Then we went to Lindos and toured Athena’s Temple.. It’s stunning and really brings Greek mythology to life! We finished in the medieval city with its castle walls and did a wine tasting there. A truly amazing day!

Great day in Lindos and Medieval city!

Island overview of the island and a lot of bus riding, this tour may be of interest to you.

Cheryl_E, Sep 2025
We enjoyed the Full Day Deluxe Tour of Rhodes Including Lindos and Medieval City. We were looking forward to seeing the Acropolis which is why we booked this tour! Marie was our guide. Along the way, we stopped for a few photo-ops. We also visited the Kalathis Pottery Shop where we got to see someone create a Greek pot. We went to Lindos which is quaint little city with a variety of boutiques, eateries and cottages for overnight stays. Lindos is the starting point to hike up to the Acropolis, The bus parked at the top of the hill and everyone had to walk down a steep hill to go into Lindos and to start the ascent to the Acropolis. After walking down the steep hill and only having a hour to walk up to the Acropolis and back, we decided to just walk around Lindos as the climb to the Acropolis is strenuous traversing a steep, uneven cobblestones and 250-300 steps. We felt that an hour did not give us enough time. We thought we would have at least two hours. Plus, there was a medical emergency on the path which required an ambulance to transport a person who was seriously injured on the path to a hospital. If you have difficulty walking, be mindful that this stop in Lindos and the Acropolis, may be challenging for you to navigate. While in Lindos, we enjoyed some gelato. We spent the hour walking around the town and venturing on alleys outside of the busyness of Lindos. The views of the water were breathtaking. Instead of hiking up the steep path from Lindos to the parking lot to get on the bus, we took a bus up the hill for €.50 per person. On the way back to the cruise ship, we stopped at the Medieval City which had quaint boutiques, restaurants, taverns, and street musicians. We felt like did a lot of riding in the bus. If you are visiting Rhodes and looking for an overview of the island and a lot of bus riding, this tour may be of interest to you.

Response from Host, Sep 2025

Thank you for your feedback and kind words about our island. Please note that a visit to the Acropolis is not a standard part of this tour. As you mentioned, it requires good physical condition to climb approximately 300 ancient steps up and down, without elevators or railings. Guests who feel comfortable making the climb are escorted by our guide, while others are welcome to enjoy their free time in Lindos. We provide 1.5 to 2 hours in Lindos overall, which is generally sufficient to enjoy a meal and explore either the village or the Acropolis. The distance between the port and Lindos is about 1 hour 15 minutes each way, which cannot be shortened, as we do not use helicopters. The Medieval City is indeed a cozy and charming place, where we include about one hour of free time after the guided portion of the tour. We truly appreciate your comments and wish you safe and enjoyable travels!

Loved Rhodes but tour felt rushed.

MaryBeth_B, Sep 2025
We loved Rhodes & all the stops on tour but it was too rushed! Not enough free time to enjoy where we were.

Response from Host, Sep 2025

Thank you for your feedback and kind words about Rhodes. We are sorry that your experience felt rushed. Usually, the 6.5–7 hours of this tour is enough to see all the highlights without feeling hurried. Please note that we specialize in shore excursions for cruise passengers, whose time on the island is limited by their ship’s schedule. For this reason, we are not able to provide more flexibility, even though a few participants may be staying in hotels. Safe travels!

Too much time in a pottery shop; too little time left for the palace.

Steve_S, Sep 2025
Our guide had us stop FIRST and gave more time to the pottery demo and the option to buy pottery and taste honey (to encourage the buying of honey) than to the Lindos palace. Stopping first at the honey/pottery shop meant putting the Lindos palace later, into the hotter part of the day. Then, once we got to the Lindos palace we were 'hurried' to get thru (and back on the bus). The title of this tour hilites the Lindos palace NOT a pottery shop. I don't actually remember anything about a pottery shop being in the initial description of the tour...but perhaps i just overlooked it.

Response from Host, Sep 2025

Thank you for sharing your feedback. Let me address the concerns you raised: 1. On the way to Lindos, we stopped at a pottery workshop for about 15 minutes, exactly as described in the tour itinerary. The purpose of this visit was to see how pottery has been made in Greece for thousands of years—a part of our culture. There was no obligation or encouragement to purchase anything. 2. Lindos does not have a palace but rather the Acropolis. The 2 hours provided in Lindos offer ample time to explore the site and even enjoy a sit-down lunch without feeling rushed. For future bookings through Viator, we highly recommend basing expectations on the official tour description and itinerary rather than personal assumptions. Wishing you safe and happy travels ahead.

A perfect day in Rhodes — history, culture, food, and fun!

Gillian_V, Aug 2025
We had an amazing experience on the Full Day Deluxe Tour of Rhodes Including Lindos and the Medieval City! Our guide, Eirini, was outstanding — patient, incredibly knowledgeable, and attentive to everyone throughout the day. There’s so much to learn and explore, and having a guide like Eirini made all the difference. We began with a fascinating pottery-making demonstration, then made our way to Lindos where we climbed to the breathtaking ruins (tip: buy your admission tickets in advance to skip the lines!). Afterward, we wandered the charming shops and enjoyed a delicious, authentic gyros lunch. The afternoon took us through the stunning medieval city where we had a wine tasting and sampled more mouthwatering local food. The whisper devices were fantastic — you can explore a bit on your own and still catch every word from the guide. This tour was the perfect way to see the highlights of Rhodes with insight and ease. Highly recommended!

Thomas_A, Aug 2025
The vehicle was too cramped. Insufficient leg room made some passengers very uncomfortable and unruly. The driver and tour guide were very good. The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly.

Response from Host, Aug 2025

Thank you for your kind words about our guide and driver — we’re glad to hear you appreciated their service. Regarding transportation, please note that Mercedes-Benz vans are widely regarded as the most popular and comfortable choice for small group tours across Europe, from Germany to Greece. In fact, the latest model was used for your tour. That said, if you have specific feedback on the vehicle’s design or comfort, you’re welcome to share it directly with Mercedes-Benz, as they may consider it for future improvements. Wishing you safe and pleasant travels ahead.

Rhodes experience

It was very informative and very beautiful! This was a very great experience snd would love to come back. The Tour operator was very well versed in her knowledge of Rhodes.

Beautiful towns

Aurora_G, Jul 2025
Had a wonderful time with my partner joining this trip to get o know Rhodes and Lindos, the tour guided Dimitra snd the driver were very nice, the tour guide is one of the best i Havebever had, her knowledge is perfect and the sreas she took everyone were great, the only thing was we wished we could have a bit ot more time to spend in Lindos as wasnt enough for us, but in general we enjoyed a lot.

Not for those with knee issues.

KennethA_D, Jul 2025
Let me start by stating the bus was waiting right outside the ship as promised. However the seats were cramped and there was no legroom, we were in the bus about 3 hours total. This activity isn’t for those with back and knee problems. The walkways are cobblestone, very uneven and there are very steep inclines and declines. I had to pass on the climb to the Acropolis of Lindos As there were 300 steps up and down with no hand rail. Instead I ate a quick bite and shopped, I also do not drink and passed on the wine tasting, I found myself doing more stuff in my own rather than with the group, the pottery demonstration was a waste of an hour,

Awesome experience!

Amanda_C, Apr 2025
The tour guide is extremely knowledgeable and we learned so much about the history and culture of the island. It’s 100% worth it to understand the place you’re visiting. Lindos is beautiful and a really amazing experience, and you’re given time to shop and eat in town. The tour does get a little long. The Medieval city is a very cool place to see and hear about the history, but we were pretty tired after Lindos and I would recommend those being two separate tours. I could see why this is an awesome tour for cruises. Either way, I’d recommend this tour highly as long as you’re ready for a full day!

An unforgettable day in Rhodes with our amazing guide - Joanna!

Nancy_w, Apr 2025
This tour was hands down one of the highlights of our entire cruise! Honestly, Rhodes wowed us even more than Athens. Lindos was absolutely breathtaking, and the old town was full of medieval charm, packed with layers of architecture and history. In Lindos, don’t be scared off by the stairs up to the Acropolis—it’s optional, but totally worth it! We’re in our late 70s and managed just fine. It was way easier than some of the hiking trails we’ve done back home in CA. Our guide Ioanna was a total rock star—warm, knowledgeable, her English was excellent. But what really stood out was her sense of humor and the way she shared personal stories that made everything feel more meaningful and each member of our group of 19 cruisers happy. She truly made the day special for all of us. Even our grandkids were captivated!!! 4 generations on one tour, and everyone had a blast. Wow! That’s a rare kind of talent! Joanna was the real gem of Rhodes. Bravo, Ioanna—and karisto polee (hope I spelled that right!). We can’t recommend this tour—and this guide—highly enough!

This tour was excellent and our guide Stephanie was very knowledgeable. Rhodes is filled with beautiful views and history. Just an fyi - The walk up to the Acropolis of Lindos is a pretty steep walk but well worth the effort.

Just book this tour!

Snezhka_R, Oct 2024
The history and sights were incredible! Lindos is a super charming town, and the view from the Acropolis is absolutely breathtaking. Don’t worry about the climb; it’s easier than it looks—my 80-year-old mom made it up just fine! If you’re not up for the hike, there’s plenty of shopping and eating to enjoy instead. Old Town is another gem, just a 5-minute walk from the ship. We hung around after the tour for some delicious Greek food—Joanna had spot-on recommendations! Don’t even think twice, just book this tour; you won’t regret it. Take it from us, experienced (and picky!) cruisers 😊

Climbing Steps with Stephanie

James_M, Oct 2024
We had a terrific day with Stephanie! She was so pleasant, professional and provided tons of info about the places we visited. The red Mercedes van was also a great piece to a perfect day, the driver was awesome…..Visiting Lindos and the Old Town was the highlight of the day…..will definitely recommend this tour to our friends!

Two Fascinating Cities

Norrie_B, Oct 2024
The pick up was convenient and on time. Our guide was knowledgeable and interesting. I would definitely recommend climbing to the Acropolis in Lindos. The views were incredible and the archealogical site was amazing. We were fascinated by the Medeival town of Rhodes. The walls and turrets were still intact and functioning in the modern city. We enjoyed the free time walking around the city and shopping. We could have skipped the pottery and agricultural stop.

Disappointed in Rhodes

Nancie_V, Oct 2024
We were looking forward to this tour, however we were very disappointed. We could have done this tour on our own, as the Medieval City wasn't far from the Cruise dock. The tour bus was nice and comfortable, but that is all I can say positive about the money we spent on this. The wine tasting was okay at the Medieval City and we purchased a bottle to take home, along with some honey. The tour guide gave a lot of talk information, however when we arrived at the Acropolis area, the bus unloaded, the guide never told us where the restrooms were. She just started walking the whole group down the steep hill after the long ride. We found the rest room on our own while the group walked down the long hill in order to make their way (optional) up the steep trek to the Acropolis there. We didn't go as it was too warm, and too steep to make it, and we weren't feeling very well at that point. We went and had a lunch instead and walked a little around the town for that 2 hour gap. The Tour guide, never got the group together or waited for anyone, she just kept walking, and talking. She didn't have a flag or anything so we could even find her 75% of the time. A big disappointment and waste of money that we could have done pretty much done on our own except the bus ride.

Response from Host, Oct 2024

We regret to hear about your disappointment and would like to address the points you raised: 1. The guide didn’t simply gave a lot of talk information, but shared interesting and relevant facts about the island’s history and culture, which many guests find valuable 2. There were many restroom options available had you been able to follow the group from the parking area to Lindos village, however, your limited walking ability made it difficult to keep pace with the group for 75% of the tour. 3. We do not use flags for groups of 16 people, as it is generally unnecessary. But even if the guide had carried two flags in both hands, it’s likely you still would have struggled to keep up with the group due to your limitations. 4. The tour description clearly states that it is not accessible for wheelchair or scooter users, or for those with limited mobility. Despite this, we made an exception in accepting your booking. Going forward, we will reconsider such exceptions more carefully. To avoid future disappointment and considering the limited time ashore for other participants, we highly recommend booking a private tour instead of a shared one. Alternatively, as you mentioned, you may prefer exploring independently. Safe travels!

Eleanor the guide from boredom.

Kathryn_B, Oct 2024
This excursion had such potential as we visited both Lindos and Rhodes (historic old town). However, Eleanor the guide made this tour drudgery by droning on and on about insignificant aspects of these marvelous places. Her interpretation lacked inspiration, creativity and relevance. Her chief contribution was to extol Italian occupation of the island from 1912 to 1943 again and again - unsurprisingly she is Italian. This excursion had 3 hours of bus travel that could have been so much better through interesting narration, better organization and lively exchange - instead, I felt like a prisoner. Eleanor needs to retire and grow some olives.

Response from Host, Oct 2024

We’re sorry to hear that our tour didn’t meet your expectations, though it seems the confusion may have started with your belief that you had booked a private tour upon meeting your guide at the cruise terminal. Let’s clear things up and address all the concerned: 1. Private tours are generally easy to spot— most of them have the word “PRIVATE” in the title, and they typically cost quite a bit more than €90. 2. For future bookings, we highly recommend giving the tour description, additional info section and price a closer look. If anything’s unclear, the Viator Customer Care team is always ready to assist. 3. While tastes vary, this is the first time we’ve ever received such feedback about Eleonora—who, by the way, is the proud owner of one of the island’s largest collections of glowing reviews. 4. During your 6-hour tour, she covered everything from Rhodes’ pre-ancient history to modern times, including the Italian occupation. Do you, by chance, have something personal against that part? 5. As for your recommendation about retirement, in her 50s, Eleonora prefers to keep guiding travelers. However, if olive farming is your dream, we’ll be happy to welcome you back to Greece when you retire—in some 40 years or so. Wishing you safe travels!

Convenient Way to learn About Rhodes

Tisa_B, Oct 2024
The write-up for this tour did not make it clear that it was a BUS TOUR. I had been on private tours in different ports, so was surprised by the bus. That said, the tour was comprehensive as far as information on Lindos and the Medieval City and the bus does pick you up right outside the ship. The guide was personable and knowledgeable.

Response from Host, Oct 2024

Thank you for your kind words about our tour and guide. We apologize for any misunderstanding—this is a shared tour with an average group size of 16 participants. Private tours can always be identified by the word PRIVATE in the tour title, as well as by the price, which is typically at least three times higher than the cost of this tour. Safe travels!
