Action packed day, visiting Reef Island, Blue Lagoon where we enjoyed a fresh local meal and wine from Rangiroa. Our guide was an awesome storyteller of the history of the island, he also gave a demonstration on how to make a purse from palm leaves. Final stop was the coral gardens for a snorkel stop.

This tour was the worst tour I have ever been on because of the boating conditions - 3+ hours of severe pounding on the waves to get to and between our stops. I incurred over $600.00 in medical expenses to have my back x-rayed and anti-inflammation shots as well as pain shots and prescriptions. The crew should have put the oldest tourists in the back of the boat and slowed down, once we expressed our terror and discomfort! Do not take this tour if the weather conditions are the least bit rough - there were white caps! Should have been cancelled.
Like a Tower of Terror amusement ride that never ended!

1) Poor communication on pick up time and location. When we returned, we were dropped at a dock far from our resort, and told that we'd have to pay a taxi to return. Once we protested, the cost was covered.
2) Food. One of our party was vegan--we were told that was "no problem" and their lunch consisted of some shredded carrots and lettuce, pieces of cocoanut, and cocoanut bread. Meanwhile the other guests had multiple substantive courses.
3) Drop off. I had an appointment, and was assured in advance that we'd be back by a certain time--we were almost 50 minutes late. I assume these things operate on "island time," but the assurances rang hollow.
4) The seas were extremely rough--we were in a pounding boat for probably four hours of travel, and four hours on land. The places we visited weren't really worth the journey given the circumstances. Conditions are beyond the control of the tour operator, but I'm not sure it was actually safe to go out. Some other guests in the boat were very nervous.

First : Due to the weather and the time of your appointment our crew decided to take you back to the marina of Avatoru and to bring you back to your hotel by car as it is faster than by boat.
BUT : "told that we'd have to pay a taxi to return" -> It's impossible and wrong to say that as it is our CAR, we do not use a taxi, and we provide the free pick up with OUR car for all our tours.
Second : You told us you're wife was vegan and we tried to give some food that she can eat .. there was some rice too. And we are sorry but we do not have lot of vegetables in Tuamotu island. We cannot provide lot of vegan meals.
Third : You told us you had an appointment at 5:00pm you were on time.
Fourth : We certainly knows better when it is safe to go out than you as we live here and are fully aware of the danger of the seas. If needed we cancel our tour. This day was ok.
It takes normally 1 Hour to go the blue lagoon and this day it took 1.5 hours. So you didn't had 4 hours of boat.

The tour is worth it. Food was good and the stops are worth seeing. The guides are nice and accommodating. The boat goes very fast. Not recommended for people with back problems or seasickness.
